We had a very nice stay. The cottage was very clean when we arrived and the weather for our week's stay was perfect. Randy and Jackie were very nice and made us feel very much at home. We enjoyed the fire pit almost every night, roasting and toasting our marshmallows for s'mores, hot dogs, and such. Our 8 yr. old black lab loved the water and we even got her to jump off the dock! A great time was had by all.Recommended for: Girls getaway, families with young children, pet owners, families with teenagers.

Plenty of room for 4 adults, 2 grandchildren and one small dog. More of a home then a cottege. Perfect for little ones to go swimming. Nice yard and neighbors. Weekends are more noisy then during the week, but not more than expected. Cottege is shaded, plenty of windows and fans which helps with no air conditioning. Care takers are very nice. Boat rental is high from a separate location on lake. I woulndn't walk to restaurant but I would recommend it.Recommended for: Families with young children, pet owners.

This was our first time with the whole family to Clear Lake (and this cottage). We really enjoyed our stay and the property managers are very friendly and accommodating. The place was clean and nicely set up when we arrived. There's even a grill up there for renters to use. The cottage itself has a good deal of charm (sort of how you picture an "up north" cottage). The view from the rear deck is amazing and the deck itself is quite large... we spent alot of time out there. The cottage is a little dated and could use a little updating, but that's part of the charm. We loved the location. The cottage is right on the water and has a nice yard for the kids to play in (and it's fun roasting marshmallows in the fire pit). Overall, we had a great stay and will likely be returning next year.Recommended for: Families with young children, romantic getaway.

My husband, myself and some of our children spent the week at Clear Lake. We loved the house....it was furnished with everything we needed and then some! The weather and lake were beautiful and the setting was perfect. Definitely want to go back! Thanks Randy and Jackie!Recommended for: Girls getaway, families with young children, pet owners, romantic getaway, age 55+, families with teenagers.

House is a bit dated but the location more than makes up for it. Property managers live very close and are wonderful people. Pre-trip communication was great. The house itself is very well-equipped. Ony had two complaints. One was that the hot water seemed to be hit or miss. The other was that there is no Internet, wifi, or cell service. However, these were minor inconveniences. We loved sitting around the fire pit and roasting marshmallows. Also, the deck is great in the morning. Beautiful place to have your morning coffee. Overall, we loved our stay.Recommended for: Girls getaway, families with young children.

Our third visit to this rental and it keeps getting better and better. We noticed many updates on this visit. New managers are doing a super job, cottage and property have never looked better in our experience. Their hospitality and attentiveness is exceptional. The lake is very nice, not too busy, clean and clear. Perfect for kayaking, water skiing, fishing, or just hanging out on the sand bars. Definitely visit the local tavern for excellent food and friendly service. A scoop of Black Bear ice cream at the store is highly recommended. Only drawback to some may be a lack of Internet access, which would be nice for a rainy day. But we didn't care, it gave us more quiet time.Recommended for: Girls getaway, families with young children, pet owners, age 55+, families with teenagers.

We had a wonderful week at Clear Lake. We had hot weather and a relaxing time. Jackie and Randy were very friendly and helpful and let my son and his friend borrow their kayaks. Cottage was comfortable and roomy!!! Jackie gave clear specific directions to find this cottage which would have been tricky without it!! Everybody on lake was friendly even though we were only "renters"!! Would love to go back next year!!!! We rented a boat(from a resort owner on the lake) and he was not pleasant(and warned us that he may take back the boat."if his customers needed it"). Randy and Jackie were disappointed to hear of this and promised to look into it. Luckily, it all went fine and we were able to keep our slow, but serviceable pontoon boat.Recommended for: Families with young children, families with teenagers.

Beautiful home with a balcony overlooking the gorgeous lake. Everything you could want is there, except WI-FI service, which you need to go into the local bar or West Branch to access. Very comforable beds; spacious, fully equipped kitchen, large fridge, great bathrooms and oh the view of the lake!!! The bonus for us was being able to take our 2 small dogs with us and they were very happy too. Great steps to access the water and a very nice dock. The property managers were very friendly and helpful. The home is very clean and well maintained. I know you should call it a "cottage" but it felt like a "home". Hope we can come back again. Maybe next year it will have Wi-Fi :)Recommended for: Pet owners, romantic getaway, age 55+.

We stayed here in late September, after the "high season". It was a beautiful cabin and setting. Since we were late in the season, the managers made special arrangements for us, like leaving the dock in and even offering a cruise around the lake before they closed up their own cabin 2 cabins away! We celebrated a multi-family reunion for approximately 20 people over 2 days. Everyone said it was perfect, though most just came for the day. It is a very nice cabin (3 very nice bedrooms, great kitchen with everything you need, great living room with a beautiful view of a beautiful lake. This is a definite 10; great house, great location, great managers!Recommended for: Families with young children, pet owners, romantic getaway, age 55+, families with teenagers.

This was our first, family rental experience. We greatly enjoyed our week with our daughter's family including grandchildren 6, 3, 5 mo. Our two son's paid visits and there was plenty room for all in this clean, well-equipped home. Two bathrooms were important for us although we wished for a second shower rather than a Jacuzzi. The couple who summer two doors over manage this rental and are most accommodating. The lack of a beach or perfectly sandy bottom didn't spoil our swimming fun. The four steps and railing into the water enabled the kids to easily get in and out of the lake. They wore "floaties" and had a blast. We rented a pontoon boat nearby for the week and used the cottage dock. Trips to a nearby sandbar off a small island were a treat. The lake is perfect for kayaking. We caught fish off the dock including a nice-sized Bass. We watched the Loons and the Bald Eagle also fish the lake. The kids and adults alike loved feeding the deer at the preserve only minutes away while others played golf in West Branch. We ate our meals on the deck overlooking the beautiful lake and made Smores using the fire pit. The nearby general store has yummy ice cream and the "downtown" bar & grill serves very good fish and pizza. You really feel like you are up north as you leave the state road and drive a mile through the woods to the house. At the same time, we were only a couple hours from home and the neighbors were very nice.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 4/4

Owner info
About the owner: I grew up in Bay City, Michigan and spent my summers at the lake swimming, fishing, waterskiing and well, living the good life. My father eventually moved to the cottage on Clear Lake and it became our family home for many years. Now it is a vacation home and still one of my favorite places on earth. I live in Los Angeles where I work as a director in film and television, but each year I find time to return to my idyllic cottage on Clear Lake. I hope you enjoy it, too.
