COZY CUSTOM BIG BEAR LOG HOME WITH FABULOUS LAKEVIEW!!!

Walking distance to the Village, lake and marinas!

For the genuine Big Bear experience, Alpine Lodge delivers both beautiful lake vistas as well as a location within a few blocks of the lake and the quaint and charming Village of Big Bear.

The cabin is located in prestigious Ironwoods Estates known for its luxury cabins and views. Take a stroll to Starbucks for your morning latte, or, if you prefer, have your coffee on the deck looking at the beautiful lake as you plan your day, whether it be an activity or just lounging around.

The custom built log cabin is truly special. It was built in 1998 by the local Gilligan family and holds the distinguished "Gilligan" name known for a motif that is all Big Bear from the log beds to most all the furniture, lighting fixtures and lamps to the bedding and accessories. I have decorated it in such a way for you to get the true feeling of Big Bear when you are here, with a warm, cozy, mountain feel that includes all the amenities. Even the curtain rods are made out of tree branches from the area. It has a wonderful ambience of a mountain cabin with knotty pine walls and windows that let in just the right amount of light. Afghans, throw pillows, down comforters, river rock fireplaces and cushy furniture add to the coziness.

Alpine Lodge’s stereo system was installed in 2004 and includes surround sound and a DVD/CD player for your enjoyment. On Demand is available on the major movie channels for this TV. Cable is provided for all the TV’s.

The great room has a high vaulted pine ceiling with log beams, a floor to ceiling river rock fireplace with gas jet, a gourmet kitchen that is open to the great room separated by a tiled kitchen island bar area that seats 5 for comfortable entertaining.

The dining table has a wonderful lake view. It is made of knotty pine and there are 8 log carved chairs. The river rock fireplace can be seen from the entire great room area as well as the deck for a warm ambience for entertaining.

The kitchen has a filtered cold water spigot on the refrigerator and an ice maker. It comes with a Belgian Waffle maker, 6 slice toaster, pancake griddle and enough pots and pans to serve a Thanksgiving dinner. It is a cook’s kitchen made for entertaining or family fun with plenty of room for everyone. The floor is slate and the counters are tiled.

There is a game drawer in the TV/stereo armoire that has board games, cards, poker chips, DVD’s and jig saw puzzles for your use.

WIFI internet access is throughout the cabin.

VIEW OF THE LAKE

Two slider doors lead out to the lake view from the redwood deck which includes a new Hot Springs spa, covered by a gazebo enhancing your privacy. The view can also be seen from the great room that includes the gourmet kitchen, dining area and living room. You are always aware you are at the lake!

The master bedroom is best described by viewing the attached pictures. It is a wonderful room with log and pine furniture including two armoires, one that houses a newer TV with DVD player and remote the other for your clothing. The attached bathroom has two sinks, tiled countertops and a wonderful over sized tiled shower and separate tub. A slider leads to a deck with lake views.

Why the Owner Chose Ironwood Estates

I preferred being near the Village and the Lake so I could walk my dog to the areas myself yet I wanted a view of the Lake rather than the ski hills. So I chose Ironwood Estates. I can be close to what's happening but still in my private space. It's the best to be sitting in the spa on the deck and watching the eagles and then take a short stroll to the Village later. Can leave the car in the garage.

The Unique Benefits at this Cabin

The living area centers around the decks and the view of the lake. It has two large sliders leading from the great room to the decks with the spa, gas bbq and cushy deck furniture. Year round you can use the river rock fireplaces to cast a warm feeling throughout the great room that can be seen from the spa on the deck. There's nothing like it. It's truly a place to unwind and relax while breathing in the freshest of air. I have a dog so I have set the cabin up for her safety in fencing in the backyard to include the deck so that she can explore the grounds and still be safe while I'm relaxing on the deck or in the spa. Motion detectors go on as she passes by so that you know where she is even at night as she goes down the stairs to the yard. I have WIFI throughout the cabin as well as cable for internet hookup. Good stereo system with surround sound. Comfortable beds, pillows and blankets. You won't be disappointed.

Owner's Map of Ironwood Estates

I've rented other cabins in various areas for years and I fell in love with Big Bear the first time I went there. It had it all from the lake, to the ski hills and the quaint Village of Big Bear. I furnished the cabin with the coziness and ambience that I wanted for myself with my visits. It truly is my mountain retreat.

Alpine delight

I was a little perplexed when my girlfriend surprised me by renting this cabin for a few days of relaxation in Big Bear. I am more of an ocean kind of guy but the moment I set foot on the porch I fell in love with the place. This log cabin was a perfect setting for a romantic stay. The decor is very tasteful and the place was very clean. Love the wooden bear that greets you at the front door. Had fun watching our black lab bark at it every time we walked by. The various items on the walls (antiques skis, canoes, antlers.......), the fishing pole lamps and the way the rooms were decorated give the cabin a special charm. A lot of thought must have been put into it. Most places we rent are usually "very cutesy" but this one was special and felt more like a home than a rental. We eat out a lot when renting because the kitchens are often below par but this one had all the amenities. My girl friend liked it so much that she still wanted to cook after coming back from our hikes. The views from the deck were beautiful. I loved looking at the lake every morning at breakfast. It was so quiet and peaceful. The fireplace makes a very nice and cozy fire and creates just the right mood.. The master bedroom is spacious and makes you want to stay in bed all morning. This is such a cool romantic place that even the raccoons were having "fun" on the deck. There were a lot of wildlife in the area, all visible from the various outdoor areas, all sorts of birds, hawks, eagles, owls, raccoons, squirrels and a small deer, even the dog enjoyed being on the hunt during our stay. What we really liked also was the proximity to everything. Some of the trails are literally just around the corner. The village and the lake are so close that one could get by with just a bike. I would recommend this location to runners also, this is a great place to train for 5Ks and half marathons. Needless to say all the lake activities were very close to the cabin. This was also a fun place for lounging around all day, for reading or watching TV (the remote could be more user friendly) and to let oneself be lazy and fall asleep on the couch.... We had a great time, it's a great place for a romantic get away and it makes you want to come back.

A cabin for all seasons

Guest: Joanne (Santa Barbara)
Date of Stay: 05/13/11 Review Submitted: 07/01/11

I've stayed at this cabin three times now in different seasons. The first was last fall when my husband & I went to take in the fall colrs & do some hiking. I was impressed then. It was perfect for us. The cabin was newer (we had been used to older ones with quirks) yet it had a real mountain feel to it. The log beams in the high ceilings in the great room made you feel as though it was your own private Montana lodge. Small enough to be intimate yet large enough to not feel crowded. We both like to cook and found it to be not only well laid out for cooking but well outfitted for it. We used the outdoor area all the time for barbequing, sitting in the spa and just lounging. We liked it so much we decided to try it for a ski trip with friends. Again, it worked out great. Close to the ski hills yet away from the crowds. The view of the lake with the snow in the trees reminded me of places in Montana. We skiied in the day and came back and cooked, played pool and listened to music at night. We all had our own room and our friends could bring their dog...what's not to like! Last, was a girls trip last month. We needed to get away and just have fun. We had a blast and when we left we all felt as though we had truly gotten away. Big Bear has that ability and this cabin made it special!

Perfect Big Bear Cabin!

Guest: Paul (Palos Verdes, California)
Date of Stay: 04/21/11 Review Submitted: 06/16/11

I stayed at this cabin with friends for several days and had an amazing time! Next time we will book for longer. The cabin was furnished with all quality mountain furnishings, right out of Ralph Lauren magazine. All the comforts but with a wonderful cabin feel. It was great having the spa on the deck so we could look up at the stars at night while soaking. The "great room" felt like we were in Telluride with the vaulted ceilings and log beams. The pictures don't really do it justice. Also, the location was perfect for our needs. We wanted to be close enough to walk to the Village as well as the Lake but still be above it all and have a view. The fenced yard was perfect for our dog because it was fenced around the deck she could roam around and still be near us if she wanted to. The view of the lake really added to our vacation in that we always felt like we were someplace special. We new we could just lounge around and be lazy or get up and go for a hike or a walk. It was all great... We've stayed at other places in Big Bear, but this was the best! We'll go back again.

Fabulous Place!

My husband and I have stayed at this beautifully furnished cabin with our family and also just the two of us. It was a spacious, fun place for the family (including our dog), but also a romantic, cozy spot when just my husband and I visited. The location is perfect, the cabin is spotless, and we will definitely go back!
