5* Luxury Heart of Edinburgh! Exclusive Views Edinburgh Castle

Year Purchased: 2001

Why the Owner Chose Edinburgh

I'm interested in all things literary and so when this apartment came on the market in 2001, I was excited by the fact that it sits just across the road from Sir Walter Scot's Edinburgh townhouse and on the other side of the street from the birth place of "Wind in the Willow's" author, Kenneth Grahame. of course, that's not forgetting that the apartment has unprecedented, stunning views of Edinburgh Castle and is in an excellent, central location for shopping, restaurants and culture - especially during The International Edinburgh Festival!

The Unique Benefits at this Apartment

Central location for great shopping and superb restaurants and bars
great views
luxury decor and furnishings
Access to lovely private gardens in the centre of town only 2 mins walk from the building.
On street metered parking or 7x24 only 10 mins walk away. Great value for long term parking at rcp parking on Brunswick Road, EH7 5PD - £30.00 per week.

A
The Apartment with best views of Edinburgh Castle in town

Now booking for Edinburgh Festival / Xmas and Hogmannay 2012-2013.A rare opportunity to experience a Scottish new year - Hogmannay - in the heart of Scotland's capital!

B
Views of Spectacular fireworks party from Edinburgh Castle!

The Fireworks Concert is the grand finale to the Edinburgh International Festival and a fitting climax to 3-4 weeks of cultural hedonism that is "The Edinburgh Festival". The apartment is still currently available for this spectacular event, providing probably the best "private views" of the fire works spectacle in Edinburgh: The Edinburgh Festival literally goes out with a bang! Beneath Edinburgh Castle in Prices Street Gardsens, the world-renowed Scottish Chamber Orchestra plays while a fireworks team based in the castle provides synchronised visual accompaniment. You can hear it live from the bedroom and then boost the sound via live radio. Truly breathtaking experience! You need a ticket to hear the SCO playing at the Ross Band%2

C
An oasis surrounded by gardens!

Just because your in the heart of the city, surrounded by the best restaurants, bars and shopping, doesn't mean that you can't escape from it all! These gardens whether private or public are just 3 minutes in either direction of the front door. Slightly further afield - approx 15-20 mins walk down hill are the Royal Botanical Gardens or Princes Street gardens just across the road in front of the apartment.

Owner's Map of Edinburgh

I worked as an actor for many years and as a radio broadcaster on the BBC, presenting arts programmes. I'm also very interested in cultural tourism projects and in 1996 created The Edinburgh Literary Pub Tour, an award winning tour performed by professional actors. It runs throughout the year and Rick Steves, presenter of travel programmes USA wide, is quoted as saying in a recent review, "for an entertaining insight into the greats of Scottish literature, served up with new friends, good beer, and lots of laughs, The Edinburgh Literary Pub Tour is my vote for the best way to spend an Edinburgh Evening!" so can't be bad!! Let me know if your interested in going on the tour at check-in and I can reserve you a slot.

Great Place in Edinburgh

Guest: Mike (Chester, VA)
Date of Stay: 11/28/11 Review Submitted: 12/08/11

The apartment was wonderful and very clean. Morris greeted us at the residence and showed us the ins and outs of the property and recommended local eateries. Morris even had purchased milk, bread, and butter since we arrived late in the evening. The apartment was very clean and comfortable for 3 adults and 2 kids. All of the attractions, restaurants, and pubs are within easy walking distance. I highly recommend this property, Morris was very pleasant and trustworthy to work with.

Great Place! Great Location!

This apartment was perfect. We have used this VRBP.com on several occassions and although we have never been disappointed with anything we have rented, this was by far the BEST property we have stayed at. It was clean and comfortable. There are no words to describe the shower experience - you just have to try it for yourselves - AMAZING! As for location, this apartment is perfect. You can walk to everything. We spent our first couple of days walking the city - there is SO much to see. Then we decided to venture out and see some of the countryside. We walked to a car rental place (Enterprise) rented a car for a few days. It was so easy. We could actually drive back to the car rental place at the end of each day, park the car for the night, and then walk back in the morning and take off again. It was perfect. Everything about this trip was perfect - thank you so much Morris for allowing us to stay in your apartment. (by the way, Morris was fantastic to work with, made everything very easy)

The Only Place to Stay in Edinburgh!

Guest: DonandArlene (Sierra Vista, Arizona, United States)
Date of Stay: 06/25/11 Review Submitted: 10/24/11

My husband and I had the distinct pleasure of renting this HUGE apartment, in the very heart of downtown Edinburgh, for a month beginning end June 2011. Talk about well equipped and comfortable, this place has it all with so many more pluses that words can describe. This apartment is truly the size of most condos the in US. The bedrooms had beautiful furniture touches, and the beds were soooo comfy with luxurious sheets, pillow cases, throw pillows and spreads. The bathroom was large with a state-of-the-art shower and gigantic tub. The combined living/dining room was next to heaven with sofas made to sink in, as well as a wide-screen HD TV with a large selection of channels. Next I have to cover my abfabfav room: the gourmet kitchen. And, believe me, it has everything and anything you could possibly want in the way of cooking, baking, and serving. I consider myself a novice gourmet cook, and this kitchen had it all! Katrina the housekeeper was a true gem. A very sweet, kind, and considerate individual who never failed to miss the weekly apartment cleaning. Near the end of our stay, we finally had the pleasure of meeting Morris the owner. Whatta guy! A true world traveler and entreprenur who knows how to make people feel welcomed and comfortable in his abode. Location, Location, Location truly describes this apartment. Close to everything and walking distance to about 95% of downtown Edinburgh. Restaurants, pubs, salons, drug and grocery stores, open air markets, bus station, train station, and department stores no more than 30 seconds to 10 minutes walking distance. Not to mention about 5 bus lines that stop one-half block from the apartment. From the bedroom window you can see the famous castle. The views from all the other windows (including the bathroom!) are also great. We have recommended this place to countless friends. Needless to say, WE'LL BE BACK!

Beautiful apartment and Great location

Guest: Patty (Santa Ana. California)
Date of Stay: 09/08/11 Review Submitted: 10/04/11

Morris was nothing short of gracious when we arrived. The apartment was beautiful and well appointed even with a computer for personal use which I found quite helpful. There were four of us traveling together and had our dinner in house one out of the two nights we stayed. The location was perfect with the ability to walk to all of our main sightseeing points of interest. Thank you Morris! Patty

wonderful base for all the sights

Guest: Wendy (Surrey, UK)
Date of Stay: 08/27/11 Review Submitted: 10/04/11

This apartment was a beautiful, comfortable and an incredibly convenient base for me and my two teenage children. The view from the bedroom of the castle meant we could watch the Tattoo fireworks from the comfort of an armchair. It was a short walk to Princes St where we could book fringe events at the Festival and enjoy all the shops. Even closer on Rose St was a wonderful Mexican restaurant Miros Cantina. We got orientated to the city on an open top bus tour and used our 24 hour ticket to go back to the Grassmarket and walk up to the National Museum of Scotland which was amazing. We thoroughly enjoyed using the well-equipped kitchen, the marble dining table for celebration meals and then chilling out in the comfy sofas in the sitting room. My teenagers really appreciated the reliable wi-fi and other techy stuff, and it made it easier to get to grips with the festival programmes. It was also good to discover we could park outside for free from Saturday night to Monday morning which made unpacking our car a bit easier. My son came up on the train to Waverley station, a short walk away. All in all very convenient and a great holiday base in a great city.

Amazing... and I travel a LOT

Guest: Chicago Traveler (Chicago, IL)
Date of Stay: 04/01/11 Review Submitted: 04/05/11

Every time I book a property on VRBO, I go through that little "uh oh" moment of worry... because you never know exactly what you're going to get, or how responsive the owner/caretaker will be. It's not like you're dealing with a hotel chain, where at least you have a corporate office to call with any complaints. Any nervousness I had before arriving at this flat simply evaporated when I walked in the door. The owner has maintained a beautiful 2 BR/1 BA apartment that feels like home. The shower is amazing... steam, with great water pressure. Big bath tub. Modern kitchen. Comfortable sofa and sitting area. And the location is right at the corner of George Street, so you're in the center of everything, with views of the castle. The property description on VRBO doesn't do this flat any justice. I was in love, and I can't wait to book this property again the next time I go to Edinburgh.

Edinburgh getaway

Guest: claudia (millersburg, ohio)
Date of Stay: 12/11/10 Review Submitted: 01/05/11

We had the pleasure of staying at Morris' flat for three days. We could not have felt more at home than if it was our own. The atmosphere is more comfortably elegant than depicted in the pictures. The little thoughtful accents were wonderful - heated towel bar and heated bathroom floor - especially in December. I felt guilty eating out when the kitchen was so well appointed. Anything you could need to prepare meals was there. I appreciated some basics being left in the cupboards. Just around the corner is the Living Room with a vegetarian friendly menu that was very nice as well as convenient shops (Morris gave some helpful guidance to newer shops) and Starbucks across the street. It was pleasant just to sit and regroup after marching around the hills of Edinburgh. I am planning a return visit with my daughter who has not been to Edinburgh and cannot wait to share this most pleasant experience with her..

We sayed in this lovely Flat in the middle of August of 2010. This is a great location. You can walk everywhere. If you like to cook, you will be right at home. Rarely do you find such great equipment in a rental. Fabulous bathroom, and a huge livingroom. You will delight in all of the good travel books, I studied them quite a bit, finding good travel tips for the forward journey. This is a grand flat, you are in the middle of the best action.
