My husband and I just got back from a 6 night stay in Kathy's studio condo. Princeville is a nice quiet area so you shouldn't expect a lot of distractions, but the market and other necessities are conveniently close. The views from the condo are lovely and it is within easy walking distance to beautiful secluded beaches. The furnishings and linens provide for a clean, comfortable environment. The refrigerator, microwave, blender and plates/silverware were all we needed for breakfast, sandwiches and snacks. Don't expect to do any heavy duty cooking but if you plan on cutting up fruit (pineapples, etc.) bring a sharp knife since the ones provided are more suited for light use. The walls with the adjacent unit are a little thin but all the neighbors were respectful and quiet during typical sleeping hours. Overall, this is a great value for a beautiful location.

The location couldn't have been better. Our lanai felt like a tree house in the rain forest. Right out our front door were incredible photo ops for the Bali Hai sunsets, whale watching, and more. Princeville itself was a beautiful community to walk around in (as in the movie "The Descendants"). It was a bit of a disappointment not having a full kitchen. However, a 5-minute drive to the Princeville Foodland store got us all of the local foods and prepared dishes we needed to enjoy wine and food on our beautiful lanai. We even received Club Card holders' discount prices there, just by using our home phone number. When we chose to eat out, there was a nice selection of quality restaurants within a 10-minute drive, between Princeville, Hanalei, and Kilauea. It was a short, peaceful ride to North Shore destinations, as the Kilauea Lighthouse Wildlife Refuge, Limahuli Botanical Preserve, Ke'e and Tunnel's beaches, etc, It was a longer, but very enjoyable ride to South Shore locations, as the historical museum at Lihue, the beaches of Po'ipu, Waimea Canyon, catamaran cruises of the Na'apali Coast, & old town Hanapepe. A very nice (and affordable) place to stay!

Previous reviews are giving a pretty adequate descriptions of the condo: excellent view, pretty good condo, etc. Somebody already noted that it may not be the best choice for a light sleeper since the condo is by a road. Although it's not a major road, and traffic noise didn't bother us, but we are not light sleepers. The only thing we didn't like that nobody wrote before is that there were cockroaches in the unit.
Owner response:Cockroaches are a common problem in any tropical area and we have the condo sprayed on a regular basis. I can assure you that this issue has been taken care of and will be monitered more closely.

Just returned from a short visit to Kauai and my fifth time renting Kathy's Hale Moi unit. I have rented both sides as well as just the studio side. One can not find a better place for the price and the overall 'awesomeness' of a rental property. The greenbelt behind the unit houses so many birds which provide a wonderful symphony of sounds each morning. And during the summer you have an awesome view of the sunset straight from the front landing - as evidenced in my photo Kathy uses on this page!

If you are looking for a clean, cute unit, perfect for two, with a breathtaking view of the Napali coast, then this is your place. The unit is within walking distance of a secluded beach (bring good shoes for the hike down to the sand). A 20 minute drive west of the condo takes you to Tunnels beach for great snorkeling, and driving another 5 minutes further brings you to Ke'e beach and the trailhead of a great hike along the Napali. The condo offers simple dining/kitchen ammenities - mini fridge, microwave, dishes, silverware, blender, etc - but be sure to pack your own beach towels. A quick drive will get you to restaurants and shops in Princville and Hanalei.

For the price of the condo this place is hard to beat... you have beach access, where the snorkling is fantastic, within walking distance and the princeville area was amazing! This place just made us want to stay on the island forever!

My fiance and I just returned from a week in Kauai and stayed at this condo for half of our trip and the South Shore for the rest. Although, as soon as we got to the South Shore condo, we kept wishing we had never left this condo in Princeville! The condo was very clean, convenient, well priced, had amazing views, and was very cozy and private. It was truly the perfect getaway! The property owner was also very nice and responsive. The best beaches are about a 5-10 minute walk or drive and are absolutely beautiful. The property is pretty much exactly as described on the website, which was quite refreshing. Remember to bring your own beach towels and that there is only a kitchenette, as described on the website, with a microwave, toaster, mini-fridge and coffee maker. As another reviewer pointed out, dishes have to be done in the bathroom sink, which wasn't a problem for us as we ended up eating out for most meals or just making sandwiches for our picnic lunches on the beach. We will definitely be staying here again and have already recommended it to our friends. Mahalo!

Its a great little studio for 2 people. Very nice balcony (you wake up to chirping birds), clean, neat set up. Very convenient location (right down the road from the Regis if you want to walk over for drinks and dinner) and opposite a great overlook; convenient parking. It was perfect for our 3 day getaway. A couple of things to keep in mind: 1.This is right on the road, so there is a fair amount of noise from the traffic, especially at night. If you are a light sleeper, this may be an issue 2. There is a 'dry' kitchennette (i.e. a refrigerator, a microwave, coffe maker, dishes and glasses). But no sink to even rinse the dishes (there is a sink in the bathroom) All in all, good value for the price.

We loved staying at this condo. It was the perfect space to celebrate our honeymoon. The weather was fantastic and it was only a ten minute drive to the town on hanelai which had great breakfast and beaches. The North Shore was breath taking and had great hikes and views from everywhere we went especially across the street and from the lanai. Kauai is now our favorite place and we are hoping to come back every year and make this condo our special place. Thanks so much for having us! TC

A very cozy, peaceful, clean studio with an incredible view of Hanalei bay. For this location in Princeville, you will not find a better price. There is a wonderful pathway right across the street with spectacular views of the protected coast. Also very close to a grocery store, a gas station, and great restaurants to choose from. Kathy was very professional and on top of her stuff. There is a coffee maker, toaster and microwave, but no stove or sink. Also a few plates, bowls and silverware. The pictures on the listing are perfectly indicative of what is there. It's a great studio. We had a wonderful three night stay and would return in a heartbeat.

Good place to stay at a reasonable price. This studio style condo unit was clean and homey. Remember to bring your own shampoo and soap as the condo unit only comes with generic hand soap. Also, bring your own hair dryer if you need one. Back lanai balcony is shared with condo unit next door so make sure you close your curtains and keep your lanai door locked for privacy.
Owner response:Yes, please bring your own toiletries. Remember this is not a hotel but my condo, or second home and I don't think you would want to share my soap.. I don't use a hairdryer on the Island as it dry quickly naturally. Sorry. Kathy

Pros: The suite had everything promised, was very clean, and even included a coffee maker. The second morning we were there we watched a rainbow flashing in and out of existence over the bay. There were nice beaches and snorkeling near by (although we didn't try the latter). There is also a Foodland (grocery store) about a five minute drive away if you find you need snacks, just past the turn in for the resort. Kathy (the owner) was very prompt in replying to our questions. We had all the information we needed to get in, get settled and finally to check out, and though we didn't need it, we also had the caretaker's contact info. Our security deposit was returned in full in about one week as agreed. Cons: The driving directions we got were somewhat vague, which we only learned after we arrived and were trying to follow them. I would recommend looking at it all on Google maps first so you have a good idea where the place is. Also, the 30 minutes from the airport depending on traffic seems unobtainable - I would budget 45 minutes for the best conditions. The lanai was shared with a gate that could be closed to seperate it, and the other side probably has the better view, although this wasn't a big issue. Stepping into the room, it was very hot, but it did cool down to a comfortable sleeping temperature. Other: Although by no means a problem with the rental unit, be aware that Princeville is a ways away from some of the major attractions (Waimea Canyon, Napali Coast sailing tours, some of the restaurants we went to). After 4 days/3 nights, we had put over 410 miles on our rental car. That being said, the drive and the scenery are amazing, so you don't feel like you're losing time from your vacation. Coffee maker but no coffee included :( Overall, I would recommend this to someone who will be traveling to Kauai but wants to stay on a budget or a couple on a romantic getaway who isn't interested in the most touristy areas.

My husband and I had such a wonderful time in Kauai and a big thanks to the property owners for providing such wonderful accommodations. The honeymoon unit was perfect for our 1-year wedding anniversary. It was a good size for two people and the interior was nicely furnished and decorated...and super clean!! All the linens were fresh and smelled wonderful! The location was exactly where we wanted to be, with great views and a short walk to the St. Regis. Each morning we woke up to the birds singing and opened up the sliding door to the lanai which had a full view of the jungle, mountains and waterfall. When you look to the right you can see Hanalei Bay sparkling in the distance. This property is one of the closest to the St. Regis which means you are very close to the beach. It's about a 5 minute walk to the resort and from there you can go to the beach level and access their pool, bar and beachfront area. There are lots of places to eat in nearby Hanalei (Gourmet Cafe, Bubba's and Neide's) and not too far off Kapaa (Olympic Cafe was our favorite and has a great happy hour). Our favorite beach is Ke'ee beach in Haena State Park (the last beach before the Napali Coast starts). Our favorite tours (I've been to Kauai 5 times now) was with www.kauaiatv.com and www.holoholokauaiboattours.com. These are stellar tour providers! (And I'm seriously picky!) I hope you love this place as much as we did and thank you to Kathy for letting us stay in her super charming condo in Princeville! We can't wait to come back! - Happy couple from Southern California

A very peaceful condo, very well decorated. It comes with everything you need. The view is gorgeous, and across the street you can sit at a nice bench that overlooks the water and Bali Hai (a great place for sunset!) I would recommend staying here to any couple or person traveling alone to stay here, esp. for the very reasonable price. Mahalo!

This condo is super close to both the famous Queen's Bath and one of my favorite snorkeling beaches! This place is very small and cozy, it's perfect for a couple. Though it's close to the street, it's not too noisy and there's a lovely balcony with a table for two that has a great view of Hanalei Bay. There's only a microwave and a small fridge, so dishes have to be done in the bathroom sink. This isn't a problem if you're eating out a lot, but if you are, I'd be prepared.

This guest condo was a very nice place to stay - it had all the amenities of a hotel, and a great location! The Ultimate Kauai guide flagged the condos for being cheaply constructed and having loud road traffic. This condo was decorated with very nice furnishings, and although you could hear some street traffic, it really was not noisy enough to bother us one bit.

Aloha, Beautifully decorated, nice furnishings, comfortable bed, great location. All I needed was a bedside lamp. I was very careful washing any dishes in the bathroom sink, don't know how you could plumb in an extra sink. I really appreciated having a microwave, refrigerator, and coffee maker, since going out to eat all the time is boring and expensive. Traffic was constant but not heavy after 10pm. We had a blackout one night for a while which got everybody outside checking out the full moon. It was a very enjoyable vacation. Mahalo Linaka

Welcome to our new condo. We are very proud to have you stay here. We have tried to decorate and furnish this our second home with a very luxurious Island feel. We love the Princeville location in general and Hale Moi's location in particular. It is just across the street from several trails down to the best snorkeling beaches. It also has great views of the Ocean in the front and Hanalei Bay in the back as well as the incredible Mountain view with waterfalls. Being located on the rainforest, allows you to enjoy the sounds and sights of the most beautiful birds in the world. Truly Heaven on Earth! We are also located near the walking paths of Princeville and have easy access to all the exciting things on the North shore of Kauai. Please enjoy our home and leave your own comments please. We are interested to hear your experiences.
