What a wonderful place... beautiful European design- modern and clean, comfortable, lovely gardens, gracious owners (ask about the wine and steaks!) and staff! I took my two teens to the Lake as a rest stop (from 3 weeks of travel) before heading back to the States I cant image a better place for a family... safe, tranquil, modern kitchen and bath, comfortable beds, lovely views....! We could have stayed for ever... a great value... highly recommended.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 4/4

I have stayed here for 7 and 8 months for the past 2 years and I return again soon. The place is amazing. The views are breathtaking, staff very helpful and the owner is so very gracious. If you love fresh water lake swimming, kayaking and hiking then this ticks all the boxes. If you love swinging in a hammock and reading a book then again it ticks all the boxes. The premises has road and lake access and each apartment has a dedicated rancho with power and barbecue outside so you can enjoy some outdoor catering. Use the sauna in the evening and then dive into the lake to cool off. Add to all of that a great surrounding area with terrific places to eat and you have it all. Just be prepared to endure the pain of leaving! This review may sound over the top but really just go to Pasajcap and see for yourself.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, tourists without a car, pet owners, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

I could go on all day about how great this place is. The owner has only the best staff on hand which makes your stay here so awesome. The value goes without saying because you can't beat the prices. I stayed here for a month last year and although I was sad to leave i really came home energized from such a relaxing stay. I can't wait to get back!Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers, girls getaway, tourists without a car, pet owners, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

Aldous Huxley called Lake Atitlan the most beautiful lake in the world, but in those first few days for us, it was only so in our rain-soaked imaginations! However, even in the torrential rain, Pasaj-Cap was a joy! We delighted in the textured rain-rhythms on the bamboo skylight of our spacious, well-equipped apartment, and we easily made exciting jaunts during short dry spells, thanks to the help of Pierre and his accommodating staff. The true wonder came when we awoke one morning to a clear, spectacular view from our window. Breathtaking! The second half of our time at Pasaj-Cap was filled with sun-soaked joys. We visited small Maya villages, interacted with the quiet, friendly folk, delighted in the sights and sounds, smells, touch and tastes. All of our transportation was by lancha or tuk-tuk, always easily summoned, and always accommodated by someone from Pierre’s friendly staff. When we want quality time in a gorgeous setting with ample accommodation, we will most certainly return to Pasaj-Cap!Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, tourists without a car, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

We stayed a month in Feb.2011. To wake up to the view across the lake to volcano San Pedro is like heaven. The temprature (important to Canadians in Feb.) was near perfect. Warm, sunny days and cool nights. Pierre and the staff are first class, helpful, very friendly and patient. The place is slightly isolated from the nearest town, San Marcos, but we found that to be no problem. It's a 15 minute walk to town. The town is small, friendly and with a couple of decent restaurants and simple grocery stores. We hope to be back next winterRecommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, families with young children, romantic getaway.

When booking this property, I kept thinking the pictures were to good to be true--and I found that this apartment was better than imagined. My husband and I stayed for 1 week and would like to return as soon as we can for a longer stay. The staff, owner and fellow guests all made us feel very welcomed. We felt and appreciated that the property is special. There is a short walk into San Marcos where we took Spanish lessons in the morning and convenient launches to visit the other villages around Lake Atitlan. We enjoyed going into San Pedro for their markets and restaurants and Hiking from San Juan to The Nose.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, tourists without a car, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

My husband and I spent one week of our honeymoon at Pasaj Cap, and loved it. The apartment was was well kept and well stocked, and the setting was gorgeous. We both enjoyed lounging in the hammock in our apartment as well as those around the property. The staff were friendly, attentive and very patient with our limited Spanish skills. We took the local water taxis to Panachel nearly every day - a quick, and always entertaining process. Pierre was very thorough in the booking process, responding to my every query. We have plans to return to Lake Atitlan and Pasaj Cap one day - hopefully with friends and the intention to study Spanish.Recommended for: Age 55+, girls getaway, tourists without a car, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

we saw many other rentals while vacationing there for a month and always we felt that we had luckily picked the best. Pierre and his staff are very friendly and helpful.Pierre goes out of his way to make sure all is good. The views are some of the best, the swimming great, not the case everywhere around the lake. Not the musty humid smell in summer that is in San Marcos or Santa Cruz. The grounds were so well kept and always being improved. The location near San Marcos was really nice, as it was probably our favorite of all the towns for a relaxed atmosphere,... alternative, interesting travellers and green jungle scenery. It took us a few days to realize that it is bigger than you first think. There's a good choice of restaurants, vegetarian too.It is a 15 minute walk or a 5 minute boat ride.To me it is more tranquil to be a little removed from the towns. We went with our 15 and 10 year olds. They loved it ! there is some open lawn space to run around and areas to explore.Swam alot in the mornings. loved the rain in late afternoons... We loved that there was no tv to zone out on!!!! Pasaj-cap feels and is extreemly safe and they wandered alone on the grounds. The rentals are beautiful. simple, very clean, organic. Also, there is much privacy. You might run into another renter at the boat dock, every few days. Some bugs, not too much but next time will bring a few yards of mosquito netting to attach in front of large windows so that we can leave them open all the time. Also will bring my own pillow. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND PASAJ-CAP. I REALLY THINK IT'S THE BEST ON THE LAKE FOR THE PRICE!!!!Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, tourists without a car, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

This is an amazing location, suitable for romance, adventure, relaxation, and much more. For us it was truly a remarkable escape from the modern world and into the most unique nature experience we’ve ever found—without sacrificing any of the comforts of modern life (except TV & phone which we were eager to give up). We found romance everywhere we went… nature, breathtaking panoramic views, relaxation, you too will find it everywhere, indoors and out. The owner has thought of every detail to make your stay an unforgettable one… from private hammocks indoors and out… to unobstructed views of the two amazing volcanoes and the beautiful Lake Atitlan. Privately tucked deep within the mountain, finding the house was an adventure full of treacherous curves that we will never forget. However, when we finally stepped foot on the beautifully manicured grounds with wonderful trees, and flowers, overlooking the lake and volcanoes, with a private dock where all the boat taxi/shuttles stop, we knew we had found a little piece of heaven on earth. Equally pleasing as the location is the architecture and warmth of the suite. At sunrise you will awake to the amazing low lying clouds that will tempt you to want to reach for them. The villagers are kind and welcoming; spending time in any of the surrounding villages is an excellent way to connect with an ever so tranquil and serene way of life. The owner and his staff are very attentive and friendly. They go out of their way to make sure that you are please and enjoying your stay. The hardest thing about our stay at Pierre’s place was leaving. This miraculous place is as ideal for a romantic getaway as it is for a large group of friends looking for adventure (hiking, kayaking, etc.) or for a family reunion, or even a small wedding ceremony. It was just the two of us this time around, but we look forward to bringing our three daughters on our next trip.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, tourists without a car, romantic getaway.

My wife and I spent a month in one of the apts this year ... the entire stay was memorable and worth repeating. The apts are clean, fresh, and each one has spectacular views of the lake and volcanoes. Each one is outfitted with everything you need to make it home. Swimming off the dock in the crystal clear lake is refreshing. Choose these accommodations if you want peace and rural tranquility, not nightlife. The apartments are about a 15 min walk to San Marcos village over a dirt road. There is easy and frequent access to other lakeside towns by boat -- just flag them down as they meander along the coast. Best of all: the owner Pierre is a gracious and warm host.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, romantic getaway.

My husband and I spent a week here November 2008 and are now considering retiring on Lake Atitlan. Pierre was responsive in booking and even had to come guide us to the gate. If you drive plan on arriving by daylight as the roads are rough and hard to negotiate. The apartments are new with the scent of the local mesquite from the furnishings and cabinets. Each has enormous picture windows that you can slide open to hear the lapping of the Lake not far below. The view is breathtaking. We used the well equipped kitchen for breakfast and many dinners and enjoyed the view from the dining room table. Pierre advised us on our trips around the Lake and to both Antigua and Chichi. Though we did rent a car, you can get around by launcha/boat to places on the Lake and can take a bus, or pirvate car, to Guatemala City from Panajachel.Recommended for: Age 55+, tourists without a car, romantic getaway, sightseeing.
