Lovely, Quiet Flat in London

Guest: Rebecca (Chanhassen, MN)
Date of Stay: 04/01/12 Review Submitted: 04/19/12

Our stay was short, but oh so sweet! My husband, 2 daughters, and myself all had a wonderful time in London. The apartment was a perfect fit for us ... much better than a hotel. Catherine was a wonderful host! Not only did she help us with all our questions, set up a taxi for us, and explain how to use "the tube" ... she had fresh-cut flowers, a huge bowl of fruit, cheese and crackers, cereal, milk, juice ... and much more waiting for us upon our arrival. Compared to our other travels this is the best "pesonal touch" I have experienced. Thank you Catherine! The place was stocked with everything one would need. After a busy day in the city ... we loved coming back to the quiet neighborhood to relax on the over-sized pillows with a good book or watch one of the dvd's provided. It was a perfect vacation: busy with hustle-bustle, yet quiet and relaxing. Not to mention educational. During a tour one of my daughters said, "Mom, I'm learning more here than at school". Can't beat that! And a must for us: the tube, grocery store, and Tavern were all within a 5 minute walk from the apartment. I highly recommend this place, and hope to come back soon.

Charming flat with all of the comforts of home

Guest: Fish (Salem, OR)
Date of Stay: 03/26/12 Review Submitted: 04/03/12

My husband, teenaged son, and I loved staying in this wonderful flat for almost a week in March 2012. The flat is clean, comfortable, nicely decorated, and was equipped with everything you would expect in a vacation rental. The kitchen is small, but very well-stocked. Catherine, the owner, is very friendly and easy to work with, and she provided us with information about the area and help in arranging for a cab transport to the airport for departure. The neighborhood in which the flat is located is a quiet residential area. There is a nice pub around the corner from the flat, the Tufnell Park Tavern. There are several small grocery stores in the area. The flat is located very close (approximately 4 blocks) from the Tufnell Park underground station, so it is easy to get into Central London (or elsewhere). It is a very easy 5-minute walk from the flat to the station. Hampstead Heath, with its beautiful trails and views of the City, is within easy walking distance (approximately 10-15 minutes away). We would not hesitate to stay here again or to recommend it to friends.

London Home

Guest: Helen29 (Hudson, MA)
Date of Stay: 03/10/12 Review Submitted: 03/18/12

My adult daughter and I have just returned from a week in Catherine's charming flat. Everything was as described, or better than promised. I have now had several VRBO experiences, all positive, with this being the best. Catherine added many thoughtful and unexpected touches, such as welcome wine, bread, cheese, crackers, fruit, milk, eggs, and a large bouquet of absolutely stunning cut lilies. There were extra towels readily available, all very high quality linens. Everything was clean and in working order. The flat is a five minute walk to the nearest tube, and less to the nearest bus stop. At night the place was absolutely quiet. Wonderful! If ever I am lucky enough to return to London, I will hope that Catherine and her lovely flat are there to welcome us again.

At Home in London

Guest: California Dreaming (Southern California)
Date of Stay: 12/08/11 Review Submitted: 01/06/12

Thanks again Catherine for our wonderful 2 1/2 week stay in the lovely garden flat. Everything was perfect, from your warm welcome (the muffins, cheese, biscuits, and wine were much appreciated) to all the amenities. The apartment is well situated and is a tranquil place to relax at the end of the day. We felt instantly at home. We were quite comfortable and already have plans to return next time we’re headed to London.

Just like Home -- Only Better!

Guest: Ken & MJ (Tallahassee, Florida)
Date of Stay: 11/19/11 Review Submitted: 12/06/11

What a gem of a place in North London! In a quiet, lovely residential area only five minutes' walk to the Tube, this flat is a cosy and comfortable base to explore all of London. Catherine met us at the flat at 11:30 am (much nicer than waiting for a late-afternoon check-in at a hotel), and it was immediately apparent that she has given the apartment much care and attention: bookcase chock-full of tourist information and general reading, well-stocked kitchen and bathroom, warm & cosy bedroom, and lovely garden. We picked up steaks and vegetables at foodie-fantastic Borough Market (Southbank near London Bridge), hopped on the Tube, and within 20 minutes were back at the flat cooking Thanksgiving dinner! Other days, after museums, we stopped at the Junction Tavern (five minutes' walk from the tube, just past the Sainsbury's), where Johnny welcomed these two Americans as if we were long-long friends with a couple of pints of excellent real ale (microbrews). Atmospheric Highgate Cemetery is within walking distance (although we took the long way around through beautiful Hampstead Heath). Otherwise, all the museums, parks, and other well-known tourist sites are easily accessible from the Tufnell Park Tube station. What a fantastic place to pretend you are not just a tourist, but a Londoner. Thank you, Catherine!

Amazing flat in cute neighborhood

Guest: Cathy S. (San Carlos, CA)
Date of Stay: 10/21/11 Review Submitted: 11/10/11

We couldn't ask for more in a place to stay near London! We fell in love with the Tufnell Park neighborhood instantly. The flat is on a very quiet street, close to the tube, restaurants, grocery and a wonderful playground for our 15 month old daughter. The place is well equipped with wifi, washer and a great modern heater (which was needed from time to time during our stay in late October). The nearby Tufnell Tavern has great food and beer and is very kid-friendly. Best of all, Catherine was so incredibly helpful and friendly throughout the whole process. She made us feel so welcomed and it was apparent that she took great pride in her property. We are sure to be back!

Great time in London

Guest: Sandy (Virginia Beach, Virginia)
Date of Stay: 07/23/11 Review Submitted: 09/05/11

We absolutely loved the Apartment it was only 4 blocks from the Tube so we got everywhere we wanted to very easily. The pictures are ture to what the apartment looked like. We loved the Tavern around the corner and went three different times the week we stayed. The first time we went for a drink and light food, the pizza's were great. The second time we went late after we arrived back from a long day and had tea and desert. The last time was on Wed. night which was buy one entry get the second free and the entries were wonderful. We also liked the small grocery store which was across the street from the tavern. We purchased breakfest items and made our own breakfest which we enjoy on the back pattio. One afternoon my husband got sick and it was so nice to have a great place to return to he could sleep inthe bedroom while my daughter and I visited and watched a movie in the living room. I can't say enough nice things about the apratment it was everything we needed and more. We will be visiting London again I am sure and will stay here again.

Guest: Caryn (Houston, TX)
Date of Stay: 05/27/11 Review Submitted: 07/01/11

My husband and I stayed here for a week and this was probably the best VRBO home that we have stayed for the price. And we have rented a lot of homes from VRBO! It has everything you need and is quite roomy. It's very comfortable with cute decor, lots of books, a nice patio out back. We preferred the quiet, more remote neighborhood and with the tube stop just a couple of blocks away, it was very convenient.

My husband and I stayed here for 6 nights in May and really loved the accomodation. It was clean, comfortable and had everything we needed for our stay. I was pleased with how much space we had, and I loved the large sized tub in the bathroom. The neighborhood is quiet and within walking distance to grocery stores, restaurants and the Tube station. I would recommend this place to others.

Great place to come home to while visiting London

Guest: Rich (Los Angeles, CA)
Date of Stay: 05/11/11 Review Submitted: 07/17/11

Cozy apartment. Very clean and well maintained. Owner was very good about maintaining correspondence before arriving and then making sure that I got in OK once I arrived. Great for having your own place to come home to at night while visiting London. Convenient to central London and most tourist attractions via the Tube. Short walk to Hampstead Heath, which is a great place to go to for a nice walk and to enjoy London in a different kind of way than the typical tourist experience. Bull and Last is a nice gastropub (if you like gastropubs) near Hampstead Heath and only a short 5-10 minute walk away.

Wonderful stay in a lovely neighborhood! Excellent host!

Guest: Karen (Grand Rapids, Michigan USA)
Date of Stay: 05/06/11 Review Submitted: 05/21/11

A friend and I spent 2 nights in London during a recent European adventure. We had a busy itinerary - 2 nights in London, 3 nights in Paris, and then off to Austria and Switzerland. Our 2 nights in London at this flat were perfect!! The owner, Catherine, is a wonderful host. She met us at the apartment and gave us tips about the tube, dining options, banking, etc. She recommended the Tufnell Park Tavern and our food/service was excellent! The flat is only a few blocks from the Tufnell Park tube line - very convenient without any transfers when you head south towards the sites of London. When we left the flat, we were taking the Eurostar train to Paris and it was very easy - only a couple of stops to the St Pancras station. The apartment was very clean, in a wonderful neighborhood, and we loved coming home to a quiet place after our "busy" days in the city. Would definitely recommend this to family & friends who are visiting London. Thank you again, Catherine, for a most comfortable stay.

My daughter, friend and I stayed at this lovely apartment for a week. It was well-stocked with everything we needed, including food upon our arrival. It is conveniently located near shops and the underground with just a short walk. Beautiful flowers from Catherine were awaiting us, and the garden out the front window was blooming as well. We had a wonderful time, and would recommend this location highly. We miss it already, and hope some day to return. Thank you Catherine!

Very comfortable flat, excellent location

Guest: Linda and family (Vancouver Canada)
Date of Stay: 04/04/11 Review Submitted: 04/14/11

We recently stayed here for 4 nights with our 12 and 15 year old daughters. Catherine is a very welcoming, friendly, gracious host who took the time to explain all of the details, and point out where the local supermarkets and recommended restaurants were located. The flat is exactly as it appears in the photos. It was very comfortable for our family of 4- bright, cheerful, quiet, and pure bliss to return home to at the end of an active day in London. The large soaker bathtub with excellent shower can be a bonus for weary travelers, as well as a washing machine for laundrey, and access to the garden. There is also a large collection of videos/DVD's, as well as London travel books on the bookshelf. The tube station is a quick 5 minute walk away, and the Northern line whisks you directly to where the action is quickly. We stayed here at the end of a 4 week European trip, and we could not have been happier to stay in such a comfortable flat in a great neighbourhood. Now we look forward to returning someday for a longer stay! :)

Great apartment, Great neighborhood, Great transportation access

Guest: Raoul (Springfield MO USA)
Date of Stay: 03/12/11 Review Submitted: 03/29/11

Wonderful apartment in a real neighborhood, not just a bland hotel room. Cut flowers and snacks in the fridge when we got there made it an easy and pleasant arrival. The flat had literally everything we needed, including a library of movies to watch. A truly international neighborhood. There were apx. 20 restaurants, groceries, pubs, pharmacies, within walking distance. Tufnell Park Kebabs have fish and chips that have to be experienced. Our final night we ate at an Ethiopian restaurant, great experience. We found the Tube (on the corner) could get us pretty much anywhere in London direct or with only one switch, and in less than 30 minutes. The London residents were helpful and courteous. All in all, a great experience. Note: Bring your walking shoes! We walked 5-10 miles per day. "And on the 6th day, we rested".

The listing description is exactly as it is, very clean and extremely comfortable. A great place in a great city. Its in a really handy location, close to shops, restaurants, pubs and both buses and trains, and access to a washing machine was a bonus! Catherine was the best. She was wonderfully welcoming and the food in the pantry and the cut flowers were special touches. Catherine had gone out of her way to find out what was happening in the local area for new years eve and was very willing to share her informative local knowledge. We have already told our friends about this great place. We can't wait to go back!

This property is clean, well maintained and a great place to stay. Catherine was very welcoming and friendly and we were able to stay additional nights. There is a great pub around the corner. We stayed when it snowed in London. The apartment stayed warm and cosy. The only issue - if paying by PayPal you do have to pay the owner's PayPal costs. When we stayed this was not included in the accommodation price.

Staying here was a great experience all around. Catherine was a fantastic host. When I arrived she led my friend and I on a mini-tour of the neighborhood, pointing out the good pubs along the way. The flat itself is clean and very quiet. And the garden is a nice place to kick back in the morning. Besides being close to the tube--easy access to central London via the Northern Line--it's also a 15 minute walk to the Heath. I really enjoyed my visit and will definitely stay here again the next time I'm in London.

This was a perfect spot for for 3 adults (1 couple, 1 single). It's close to the Tufnell Park tube station; good ethnic restaurants are within walking distance (we tried the Ethiopian and Turkish restaurants), and St. Johns Tavern on Junction Road was a great find. Catherine met us at the flat with fresh cut flowers throughout-- a really nice touch! The flat is well equipped with TV, wifi, plenty of linens and towels, and nice garden. We felt safe walking from the tube to the flat late at night. Thank you Catherine!

And after a long day of touring or walking around central London it was nice to come back to a nice quiet cozy apartment. This was a wonderful apartment and home base for exploring London. It was easily spacious enough for a family of two adults and two teenagers. Catherine met us at the door, even though we were a bit delayed. I loved having the garden space and would sit out in the morning with my tea. There were lots of shops nearby, we could get our groceries every few days and not have to eat out all the time. After a long day trekking through london and exploring, it was so nice to have a "home" to come back to. We would certainly recommend this to friends.

I have two young boys (5 and 8) and along with my husband spent a very comfortable week in this immaculate flat, which is actually a bit bigger than it looks in the photos. The boys took the bedroom and my husband and I slept on the very comfortable futon in the main living space. All of the rooms are small but compact with everything you need including a washer/dryer, a dishwasher, and Internet (which worked great). The yard is very pleasant and we loved sitting out there in the evening. There is a great gastro-pub around the corner and the Tube stop is very convenient, so it made a great home base for our London stay.

We had the pleasure of staying in Catherine's flat for 2 weeks and enjoyed every minute. The flat was exactly as advertised and Catherine had fresh spring tulips in the living room and snacks to nibble on so that we wouldn't starve to death by morning! It is just a short walk to the tube and we were very grateful for that after spending the day out sightseeing. The neighborhood was quiet and we felt very safe there. We were happy to have the telly so we wouldn't miss any Eastenders! If you are looking for a wonderful place to eat, check out Tufnell Park Tavern on a Wednesday night. They have a 2 course meal for 11 pounds and if you order 2 glasses of wine you get the rest of the bottle for free. The food is excellent. We will surely recommend Catherine's flat and can't wait to come back. Maybe after the Olympics...:)

Owner was very helpful and acccomodating. Apartment is a small ground floor unit. Garden is open and clean with just onbe rose bush. Living room furniture is nice and couch is convertable to a bed - Location is OK - quiet and underground is a 3 block walk. I suggest that grocery shopping is best done at Kentish Town - 1 stop before Tufnel Park -easy off & on with 3 grocery stores. Tufnel Park does not have a decent PUB within walking distance of apartment. Laundrymat to dry clothes -best one is on main street in town. My wife and I stayed for 1 month so became familiar with area.

I stayed in this lovely flat in March it looks exactly like the photos and is extremely cosy and comfortable . Getting in to central london could not be easier and it was lovely to come back to after hectic days doing the sights of london. Very peaceful neighborhood.I will be back roisin & tom

This location is just a short walk to the Tufnell Park Tube Station. The “Basement Flat” is clean, inviting and very comfortable. It is in a real live neighborhood that is very quiet and well kept. Close by are several small neighborhood “Markets” and just a short walk away (5-10 min walk max) are multiple grocery stores and restaurants. It is just close enough to Central London by Tube that it takes only minutes. At the same time it is just outside the “City” enough to make you feel like you are at home. We will definitely be back to “1BR/1BA Central Leafy London Location Tufnell Park”.

This was a very comfortable place to stay in a very convenient location near the London underground. Very pleasant and very clean. Would definitely stay there again.
