Our beautiful home is nestled in the beautiful national forests surrounding St. Mary’s Glacier in the St. Mary’s/Winterland neighborhood. The natural setting allows for all sorts of outdoor activities. In the winter you can enjoy backcountry skiing, snowboarding, snowshoeing, snowmobiling, or if you’re brave, you can give winter camping a try. When the snow melts in May, opportunities for hiking, mountain biking, 4x4 off-roading, backpacking and camping abound. There are also two lakes in the neighborhood that can be fished for an extra fee (catch and release only).
The nearby quaint town of Idaho Springs boasts unique shopping and is rich in frontier and mining history. Try your luck at panning for gold after taking in a tour at one of the local mines. Run the rapids of Clear Creek with one of the several rafting companies right in Idaho Springs. Afterwards, soak in the hot springs and baths of Indian Springs. Or you can just spend the day shopping and visiting some of the several museums around town that are interesting for the entire family. There are several restaurants in Idaho Springs as well. BeauJo’s world famous pizza is an excellent choice or you can try one (or two) of the microbrews at Tommyknocker’s.
After a long day of invigorating activity, shopping, or exploring, relax in our spacious two bedroom – two bath newly remodeled home. The living room has all of the comforts of home including a flat screen television with DirecTV and DVD player. If you’ve come to get away from the television, feel free to push the flat screen against the wall and forget it’s there. You can play some music, stretch out on the couches and enjoy the warmth of the wood-burning fireplace while reading your favorite book. The larger couch also folds out into a queen size bed. The beautifully updated kitchen has everything you’ll need to cook your favorite meals. Also downstairs is a full bathroom equipped with an amazingly relaxing rainforest shower head. Follow the aspen log staircase upstairs to the second bathroom and two bedrooms. The second bedroom sleeps two on a comfortable queen size bed and the master has a larger king size aspen log bed. From the master bedroom or the main entrance downstairs the large front deck can be accessed. Soak all your troubles away and enjoy the amazing scenery in the luxury oversized hot tub situated on the deck.
So get away for a while and stay in our wonderful home. It won’t be a vacation you’ll soon forget.

My family and I stayed at this cabin for a wonderful week long vacation. The cabin was everything we were expecting and more. We had a slight problem with the door lock but that was very quickly taken care of. The location and view at this cabin is fantastic. The interior is very nicely decorated and has everything you will need for your stay. The nearby town of Idaho Springs is great to walk around for shopping and to grab a bite to eat. This cabin is very centrally located to a lot of the fun things to do in Colorado. The hot tub was a very nice added bonus. I would have loved to stay for another week! I would stay again in a heartbeat!! This cabin was wonderful!Recommended for: Sightseeing, girls getaway, families with young children, pet owners, adventure seekers, romantic getaway, age 55+, families with teenagers.

The cabin was everything promised and more! We had a wonderful time! We enjoyed the wood burning stove, fully furnished kitchen (and grill) and the ideal hot tub in this cabin. We had a fabulous experience and certainly plan to book this place again. The owners were very responsive and helpful during booking. They have thought of everything to make your stay fabulous! While at the cabin, we knew they were just a phone call away if needed (we never needed them because everything we needed was there). They really have thought of everything! There is so much fun to be had all around the area too! Our family had such a superb time! The trail head to St. Mary’s Glacier (the most spectacular heavenly view) is only ¼ mile from the cabin. It is a must do while you are visiting this cabin!Recommended for: Sightseeing, girls getaway, families with young children, pet owners, adventure seekers, romantic getaway, age 55+, families with teenagers.

Our family of 4 had a great time in this cabin! We panned for gold in Idaho Springs (ARGO mine), hiked up to St. Mary's Glacier (parking for the hike is just outside of the cabin neighborhood, very close!) and went rafting in Idaho Springs as well! The cabin had all of the things we needed to make a couple of meals, as well as was comfortable and relaxing! The town of Idaho Springs had a great little grocery store, resturants as well as activites to do for the whole family (we brought our 7 and 4 year old and they were able to pan for gold, raft and hike!) I would stay here again!Recommended for: Families with young children, adventure seekers, families with teenagers.

Cabin was great! We loved the area as well. Winter weather was a little disruptive, but that is to be expected. Owners were as helpful as possible, no fault of theirs. Wood burning stove was a big plus!Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

This is a lovely place - comfortable, very well-kept, clean, stocked (they even have a collection of games!), and attractive inside and out. We loved the log staircase and both give two 30-something thumbs-up for the decor - yay for clean-and-simple with NO "mountain kitsch!" The kitchen (with all the dishes/implements you'd need for concocting food and drink) is great for home-made meals, the wood stove is hot and awesome to sip wine in front of, the hot tub is private and great (we had fun playing with the "disco" lights - but really enjoyed being out in the dark soaking under the full moon in the falling snow). The nearest neighbor isn't too far away, but we didn't see or hear another person the whole weekend. Just down the road from the trailhead for St. Mary's Glacier, lake, and beyond (we didn't do James Peak this time around, but highly recommend it if you're looking for a more ambitious adventure!), and there's also terrific hiking right out the door (just a short walk through the woods to some truly panoramic Rocky Mountain vistas). The owners are super-nice and easy to contact. Dog-friendly was the icing on the cake - our old hound loved playing in the snow and snoozing in front of the fire. Would love to come back with another couple or a fun group for another quick vacation!Recommended for: Girls getaway, pet owners, adventure seekers, romantic getaway.

We had a wonderful week at the cabin. So quiet and peaceful. There was a LOT of snow, even though it was late May. A winter storm had come through the day before we arrived. But there were shovels handy, so we had no problem clearing the steps and a path to the hot tub. We had a fire every night. Beds were comfortable and the bathrooms nice. The kitchen was great and well-stocked with equipment. A few staple foods were there, and we added to the stock by leaving more things when we left. The directions were perfect; we had no trouble getting up to the cabin. Hint - IGNORE your GPS and do not go up Mine Road! Follow the instructions given by the owners - much easier. We went down to Idaho Springs nearly every day to buy groceries for supper and go to Starbucks to use the Internet, so the fact that there is no internet at the cabin was not a problem. David was so kind to allow us to arrive early on the first day. We really appreciated that. The only negative thing had nothing to do with the cabin itself. Living at 10,300 ft. altitude for a week is hard on us Southerners! If you go, be sure to drink LOTS of water and take it easy. Wonderful place; I'm glad we stayed there.Recommended for: Sightseeing, romantic getaway, families with teenagers.

We stayed in this wonderful cabin for Christmas 2010. It far exceeded our expectations! The location is perfect and the area is just beautiful. The inside is extremely comfortable and the owners have many extras such as games, firewood and even a pair of snowshoes in the front closet. I was also very excited that they permitted me to bring my dog with us. The hot tub on the deck was my favorite feature. There is nothing like soaking in the hot tub under the stars while it is snowing after a long hike. Thank you so much for allowing us this amazing escape. I will definately return soon!Recommended for: Sightseeing, girls getaway, pet owners, adventure seekers, romantic getaway.
