An excellent apartment in Rabat (200 yards from Mdina) having a great view across central Malta. The 2 story apartment is part of a block of old row or townhouses and has a completely modern interior with new appliances, shower, and washer/dryer (easy to operate). The gourmet kitchen is a dream and has a great fridge and freezer. Parking is quite easy but the best way to see Valletta is to catch either of 51, 52, or 53 buses from the plaza above the top of the outside stairs to the right (parking in Valletta is expensive and the traffic quite heavy). Marion, the owner, is extremely helpful and can show you how to get to the grocery store in Rabat. Mdina was charming and the townhouse location was excellent. We gave it 5/5 stars!
Owner response:Dear Jon and Kathy, A big thanks to you for the lovely words much appreciated. I am very pleased that the apartment and myself have contributed to make your stay in Malta a great experiance and I will be very glad to have you as welcoming guests whenever you decide to return to Malta. With my warmest, sincerely regards, Marion

The property was just as described, comfortable and well-equipped, the photos accurate, and the owner very agreeable and helpful. It was clean and well-maintained, and, with nearby buses, makes a good base for exploring Malta. Mdina is delightful, by day and night. The property has a lovely view. The only serious downside is the noise from traffic climbing the hill-road right in front of the house. Not a problem for the bedroom, but did rather spoil the pleasure of the sitting-room/kitchen. A minor problem, if self-catering, is the apparent lack in Rabat of food-shops (other than small corner-shops, with a very limited range). The TV is almost entirely in Maltese or Italian, so you have to make your own evening entertainment. We would certainly recommend the property to friends, but would mention the downside as well as the up. Overall, we had a very pleasant week, and felt it was very good value.
Owner response:Dear Guest, Thank you for your lovely comments and thank you for recommanding our property. I am glad you have enjoyed your stay with us. I will be very glad to have you as welcoming guest whenever you decide to return to Malta. Best Regards, Marion

We had an amazing time at Luz Del Sol! The condo was right next to the city of Mdina. It was the perfect spot for sigh seeing. The condo itself was very modern and met all of our needs. Great little bars/restaurants on the steps! Great location! Thank you for a wonderful holiday on Malta!
Owner response:Thank you for your lovely comments Leigh. I'm so glad you have enjoyed your holiday in Malta and the culture that Rabat and Mdina has to offer. It was a pleasure to meet you and have you at 'Luz Del Sol'. I hope to see you again! Best Regards, Marion

A one double bedroom maisonette in the old town of Rabat, a few minutes walk from the beautiful ancient city of M'Dina. Apartment is located on at the foot of the steps one can see in the photographs. If you have a buggy or wheelchair, access is possible via the adjacent road. However the slope is very steep and dangerous due to traffic and I could see some people being put off by this. However all amenities are as pictured. The property was clean and well maintained. We did not find the beds particularly comfortable and a little small. The only other surprise was having to pay electricity and water for the accommodation (listed on VRBO as a supplementary payment in the small print) , which we were informed about at the beginning of our stay (although we were a little surprised at the cost of the electricity bill at the end which together with the water added approximately 150-160 euros to a one week stay in October). Marion herself was always available to help with any problems (resetting the broadband and helping to solve the dryer settings) and very helpful. Rabat itself has much to offer and to explore including the Catacombs and St Paul's Crypt (where he stayed in Malta). We were happy with the location being centrally located but would recommend public transport into Valleta and back out (a hub and spoke arrangement) as the best way to get around. We were not impressed with the tour bus (of which there are several) / advice given to us by local bus drivers that the tour bus was the best way to get to Golden Sands (a small sandy beach) which took us over 2.5 hours. The island of Malta has much to offer and its people are very welcoming.
Owner response:I find this review is playing fast and loose with the truth particularly with the surprise to pay utility bills. It is stated under vrbo listings rates in normal print and also on our first email to guests. The price mentioned for one week was all inclusive of utility bills, phone calls, broad band internet , baby’s bed + linen, high chair and even a personal bill. All slopes are steep when handling two buggys; and double beds are obviously small and uncomfortable when sleeping with kids. A trip to the beautiful Golden Sands Beach would only take ten minutes of pleasant driving in a private car.

My husband and I had a fantastic month in Marion's beautiful apartment set into the cliffside below Mdina. The view from the kitchen is amazing; I set up my office in the little breakfast nook so I could look out across half of Malta, watching fireworks in a different town every single night. We were there in June when Malta is hot and dry, but the apartment stayed deliciously cool and we never even touched the aircon (good thing, because power is indeed expensive). The kitchen is stunning, modern and fully outfitted. The little loft above it is quite comfy; it was good to have the option to pull out the couch and sleep upstairs where it's bright and airy. Marion was super friendly and helped us get settled and find what we needed. We found Rabat and Mdina to be the most walkable part of Malta, so it was super conveinient that we could just stroll up the stairs and around the corner to get there. The public busses are also right there, but going anywhere except Valetta takes a long time and the closer cliffs and beaches are more easily accessed by taxi. If you're trying to decide whether to go to the Hypogeum, I suggest you instead check out the catacombs & crypts a few minutes away in Rabat where you can walk around by yourself without a guide.

Hello Marion Thanks for letting us stay at your wonderful place in Malta. I would highly recommend this for couples and people who want to be central on the island, while easily being able to access public transport or for hire car use with loads of parking. I'm sure you will find a steady stream of people returning to stay again, as your accommodation is first rate. We look forward to seeing you again!
