We stayed at Sand Dollar cottages for a week. The unit was very nice, clean, and had everything you would need. The bed was exceptional, with a window by your head so you could listen to the breeze. Chad the owner is a wealth of local knowledge, his 2 potcake dogs, Sasha and Sheba became out good friends. The beach is fantastic for walking and lounging and sunrises and sunsets. Cherokee Sound is also a great bone fish area if you care to test your skill chasing the "Ghosts of the Flats". We are going back next year and our only regret is we only had 7 days when we would have liked to stay at least 10-14. We highly recommend Sand Dollar Cottages.Recommended for: Romantic getaway, adventure seekers, sightseeing, pet owners, age 55+.

Chad has a great spot. Beautiful beach, with small boat to snorkel off, very clean well equipped the perfect spot to read and unwind with few people to bother you except my wife. But that was my fault I brought her. No kidding all was great. Thanks chadRecommended for: Romantic getaway, families with teenagers, girls getaway, adventure seekers, tourists without a car, sightseeing, pet owners, age 55+.

Only 20 minutes from Marsh Harbor, this is a great location within walking distance to miles and miles of flats fishing. The owner also provides a boat and kayaks for exploration in the Cherokee Sound area. We fished and caught a wide variety of species besides bonefish and saw lots of sea life including turtles, dolphins, stingrays, eagle rays, sharks lobsters, crabs and various fish. There is some great snorkeling within easy boating distance. We also caught conch and made a wonderful conch salad with the help of the owner. We caught several species of small jacks and snapper that make for a wonderful fresh fish taco.Chad the owner and his two dogs made us feel very comfortable and helped out with sightseeing, snorkeling and fishing advice, along with providing for all our unexpected needs. The washer and dryer is really handy for laundry. The beaches are really nice white sand that is soft on your feet and we found an awesome variety of shells to take home. The cottages are very comfortable with a variety of configurations to fit families or groups. The bed was very comfortable. Our stay on Abaco was awesome and we would recommend this rental for anyone looking for a "cook your own meals" vacation. Our only caution is to make sure to bring bug repellent with deet, because if the breeze dies down in the evening the bugs can get ferocious.Recommended for: Romantic getaway, families with teenagers, girls getaway, adventure seekers, sightseeing, families with young children, age 55+.

My husband and I enjoyed the week we stayed at SandDollar. This vacation exceeded our expectations. We've stayed at vacation rentals all over the world and this was by far the most comfortable and accommodating yet. The place was shiny clean, the king bed was comfortable, and the A/C was ice cold. The location on Casuarina Point is perfect for your own basically private beach, especially this time of year. The weather was nice for snorkeling, bonefishing, and of course just beaching. It was great having the boat available to do some nearby exploring which we took full advantage of. I would highly recommend this rental and we're seriously planning on going back hopefully sooner than later.Recommended for: Romantic getaway, adventure seekers, age 55+.

My daughter and I stayed for 7 days and had a wonderful, relaxing time. We drove to two points of the island, sightseeing, and quickly realized we had found our place at Casuarina Point. We we lucky to have a spear fisherman as our neighbor for the week, he brought back lobster and fish. We enjoyed the special meals and also meeting such special people. We already miss The Sanddollar, our new friends, Chad, Sheba, and Sasha. :( Thank you for such a wonderful time and sharing your dream with us. You're a very lucky man!Recommended for: Romantic getaway, families with teenagers, girls getaway, adventure seekers, sightseeing, families with young children, pet owners, age 55+.

We stayed at the cottages for 7 nights and really enjoyed the serenity of the site. The cottage was very clean, very well maintained and comfortable. We walked the beach, read, my wife was in the water every day, picked up shells and just relaxed. It was a great getaway from our hectic schedule at home. Chad, the owner, was great and he was there to assist us in any way. We did not use them but Chad has kayaks and a boat right there for your use. I was a little dismayed at having to drive on the left but should have realized that based on the Brittish history of the island. We only left the site once to try a beach side pub on Cherokee point that Chad told us about - 15-20 minutes from the cottages- great food. It is a place you can go to totally relax, lay in the warm water, boat, you can fish, or you can visit other areas of the island. You won't be disappointed!!Recommended for: Romantic getaway, adventure seekers.

My boyfriend and I stayed here for three weeks in April 2012 and really enjoyed the hasitality provided by the owner Chad. The place was so clean and thoughtfully presented with everything you would need. It was lovely to sit on the veranda reading and listening to the birds. We had no problems with the excellent cable TV and WiFi service. We loved playing with Sheba and Sasha, Chads dogs on the beach whilists sunbathing or fishing. Chad was always ready to provide advice or help when we needed it with information about the island. The facilities were great: with even an outside shower that was great for rinsing off the fishing equipment before storing the rods on the hooks on the veranda. The bonefishing around Casuarina Point was fantastic with several fish caught on the flats just off of the beach infront of the cottages. We will definately be back and have told several of our fishing friends of our find.Recommended for: Romantic getaway, families with teenagers, girls getaway, adventure seekers, sightseeing, families with young children, pet owners, age 55+.

If you want a beautiful place to relax and explore nature, you have found your next vacation rental. We stayed in the King Suite (1L) and it was immaculate! Screened in porch with table and chairs, along with casual outdoor furniture to view the beautiful water. The kitchen/living area has everything you need. The bed was so comfortable, my husband who NEVER sleeps through the entire night, slept all night long. The ceiling fans kept the room cool with a sea breeze while you listened to the waves lap onto the beach. The place is about 15 miles from town, with no restaurants needed. Bring frozen food with you and you can cook on the outdoor grill, oven, microwave, stove, or even have a fire on the beach with Chad's covered fire pit. Daytime explore the bay when the tide goes out to find conch, starfish, bonefish from the kayak, southern sea rays, and of course Sand Dollars. I found 70 one day. Take the Ocean Kayaks (2) singles or the boat to explore even further. We found a small reef recovering well from a hurricane a couple of years ago. Nice sea fans, tropical fish, and one nasty guy called a Lionfish (DO NOT TOUCH). Our host was Chad, who made every wish come true. He has two well behaved dogs that love to swim. We enjoyed Shasha and Shieba very much, as we missed our own dog Maggie. There is laundry facilities that are just as nice as the ones you have at home. The kitchen was well equipped and there is even the staples such as salt pepper, sugar substitute, vinegar, etc. that guests have left for others. We were even greeted with a flower on our table. Only one disappointment, which Chad cannot control, was the abandoned areas on the beach about a 1/2 mile from SandDollar Cove cottages, had debris from humans, which would have to be cleaned up by community involvement. Some tips:If you want to rent a car, you can do so, although we could have actually done without it. We only used it 5 times during the entire week, Once to get there, get back, drove to the village of Cherokee, to the ferry, and then back to the airport. Bring bug repelant, because you will need it when the winds die down. The listing was totally accurate, and the photos do not do justice to the actually view. The place was immaculate as I said, and Chad was more than helpful with everything. We started as strangers and ended as friends. I would recommend this to friends and relatives alike. Wi-Fi available to stay in touch and send photos to family.Recommended for: Romantic getaway, families with teenagers, girls getaway, adventure seekers, tourists without a car, sightseeing, families with young children, pet owners, age 55+.

Marvelous Month!
Marvelous Month!

The month at Sand Dollar Cove is in the top three of our most relaxing and wonderful vacations. The cottage is well-equipped with cooking utensils, linens, towels, washer and dryer, and the extra amenities of the sea kayaks, a motor boat, grill, etc were as promised. The access to a quality WIFI connection, Skype, and Cable TV provided us with the connectivity we needed, again without any glitches. Chad is a superb host and graciously guided us to the best wines (A and K), grocery shopping (Maxwells and Abaco Grocery), fresh seafood, and day trips in the area (Man-O-War, Hopetown, Treasure Key). I'm a vegetarian and was able to find fresh fruits, vegetables, and Morningstar Farms products without a problem throughout the month. The sweet potatoes at the Abaco Grocery were awesome! I was able to walk 2-3 miles on the beach every day and rarely encountered another person while finding shells, seeing dolphins, and observing many species of birds, including the endangered Bahama Parrots.Be sure to bring your camera and water shoes to traverse the coral rocks when you cross the "creek" that leads to the southern beach (flip flops don't work!). This is a perfect beach for a family as the water is only waist deep at high tide with gentle waves and children could play safely. At low tide in places, we could walk out over a half mile which gave us great views of the neighboring keys. We had tasty lunches at Jamies (mac and cheese is fantastic!), Pete's Pub at Little Harbor, the Jib Room, and Junovias. Chad's recommendation to acquire a car from Rental Wheels worked out well although we did not feel comfortable driving at night (our age and not used to driving on the left). Other guests that we met during the month did not share that concern and did drive at night. If you are searching for a quiet location to relax, read, to walk on what Chad calls an un-peopled beach, and to return home rested and energized by the beauty of Casurina Point's sunrises and sunsets, we strongly recommend Sand Dollar Cottages.Recommended for: Romantic getaway, girls getaway, adventure seekers, families with young children, age 55+.
