This studio was wonderful. It exceeded my expectations. It was very clean, private and so close to everything I wanted to do. Since I traveled alone, feeling safe was a priority, again the property delivered in that aspect as well. The owners were very informative and easy to communicate with. I could not have asked for a better or more restful place. I will definitely go back!

My two daughters and I stayed in this wonderful studio!! Loved the location, short walk and you were at the beach....shoppiing and plenty of restaurants close enough to walk! The studio had everything we needed! Absolutely loved the private patio where we all sat out and had our welcoming margaritas! Alisa and Darren are so accomodating! Loved also having bikes to ride! I will never stay any where else on what I hope to be an annual trip to Southern California!! Thank you to Alisa and Darren for letting your studio be our home away from home!

We spent 4 nights in this charming little hideaway. Great location, wonderful artistic touches throughout, marvelous private patio garden and an amazing shower that made you feel like you were showering outdoors. Very clean and a wonderful use of space. Alisa couldn't have been more accommodating...we will definitely be back.

I stayed at Tourmaline Beach Studio for three weeks this winter and it was exactly what I needed for my West Coast golf vacation. The unit had everything I could have possibly needed, and Alissa was right next door to answer any questions or take care of any need. The private patio and upgraded barbeque grill provided the perfect setting for evening meals. The beach bikes were great for touring the town and the beach itself was within easy walking distance. Grocery stores and nice restaurants are also within walking distance and the off street parking space was a nice luxury for PB. I was a little nervous since this was my first time using VRBO, but Alissa was very good with her communications and made the process a breeze. I definately plan to make this an annual winter retreat.

Clean, cozy location. Two blocks from the beach and minutes to the freeway or Downtown S.D. Owners were great. A real hidden gem on Tourmaline. Shops and stores all within walking distance.

We went for our anniversay for 5 days with our two small dogs and really enjoyed our stay. Darren and Alisa were kind and helpful. The studio was clean, cozy and I liked the decor, for example: the bathroom-shower was great. It is in a central location close to everything. We highly recommend this studio.

My husband and I enjoyed a perfect weekend at this studio. It is very cozy, quiet, and clean. Loved having use of bikes, although the beach and shops are within walking distance. Highly recommend breakfast at Kono's, coffee at Pacific Bean, and yogurt at Yogurtland. This is our 2nd stay with Alisa and Darren(perfect hosts) and we will definitely be back again! We really appreciate the artistic quality of both studios and always look forward to the chips and margaritas! Love, love, love Pacific Beach and this perfect spot!

My sister and I stayed here and absolutely fell in love with this studio , it's decor, the shower, the patio, the neighborhood. This is so much better than staying in a hotel, especially if you want to experience local living. Very clean! It's a very close run, walk, bike ride to the beach, cute local restaurants, or the touristy ones if you prefer. Grocery store just down the street. Alisa is wonderful!

This property is perfect! Alisa is super accommodating and my husband and I (and our 2 dogs) had an awesome SD weekend getaway. The studio was just the right size for us, and we loved being able to walk to breakfast & dinner (Fig Tree is great for breakfast & The Fishery was a nice dinner spot). I would definitely recommend this rental and can't wait to make a return trip :)

This is a fantastic place! We were travelling in couple with a kitten. We came from Italy! Our vacation in San Diego was perfect because of this studio, you can find in it everything you need from the hairdryer to the mixer to a fantastic welcome margarita. Everything is clean and the apartment is completely usefull. You can walk just a few blocks and you're in one of the most famous beach of San Diego, you have two fantastic bicycles and you can go everywhere..we went by bycicle to Ocean Beach! That is pretty far.. We usually had dinner at home, because we are Italian so we love have dinner at home and cook togheter and we enjoy the bbq in the lovely garden and the fully equipped kitchen. But you are close to reataurant and pub, and to the shops! We hope to come back to San Diego as soon as we can! Thank you Alisa and Darren!

My young son and I stayed at this nice studio for 3 days and 2 nights. It is well maintained and the owners are responsive to any needs or requests. The location is only a few blocks from shops and from the ocean. There is an especially nice Thai restaurant in the neighborhood. We especially enjoyed the patio and swing in the back of the unit. We hope to return soon.

We have only positive things to say about our stay at Tourmaline. Great for 2 people. Wonderful to have a parking space (which is gold in this town). Our hosts (Alisa and Darren) were there if we needed them and very accommodating. Central to surfing, kayaking, deep-sea fishing, shopping, the zoo (things we did) and night life and so much more. Huge number of surfers use this beach, pretty cool to see. Great city, great place to stay.

This property as well as the larger back property gave me the ability to get away and write bringing my three girls with me. Darren and Alisa are amazing and so helpful, whether it was changing out furniture or giving suggestions for some great dog beaches, two are very close by car. I have fallen in love with the studio on Tourmaline that I can't wait to return. This time with the dogs and a dissertation completed. Time for downtime in San Diego!

I have new friends in Darren and Alisa, and will definately be coming back! They are very attentive and friendly, and continue to make improvements to make the place even better. So nice to be able to ride a bike to all the restaurants and spots in P.B. and stroll down to Tourmaline with the longboard! Thanks for the great stay, hope to be back when the ski season ends!

My husband and I recently stayed here and it was perfect. The owners are accommodating, friendly, accessible, and professional and have described everything accurately. The place is well appointed and though small, every inch is planned out for a purpose. It is comfortable , private, and in a great location. We walked to the beach and around town, took the bikes for a cruise, grilled and cooked some great food, and also enjoyed the nearby breakfast place, Leilani's, which the owners had recommended.We felt very comfortable and at home here. This was a very relaxed, easy, laidback vacation and it was the perfect place for us. We hope to return soon.

I enjoyed our stay here so much I am tempted to keep this "secret" to myself. I liked working with Alisa during the booking process. She was very helpful and listened closely to some of my concerns for accommodating my dog. This wound up being a great fit for my pet and my whole family (2 adults and 2 young children). The space is fine for two adults, but this studio is small and may not work for every family of four. But we just cozied up with each other and it worked out fine. (Check their other listing for a bigger space if you think you need it. Another friendly traveler let me peek in one morning and it was very nice and had more room inside.) The private, fully enclosed patio helped make the space feel larger and was perfect for our dog. There was a nice grill, boogie boards, beach chairs, beach towels, and beach toys for the kids. Having driveway access was a huge plus, because street parking is pretty crowded. It was an easy walk to Tourmaline Surf Park, which does have swimming access in a specified area. This neighborhood was pleasant and quiet. We enjoyed walking to Leilani's for breakfast/lunch and French Gourmet for a nice but casual dinner and great desserts. Albertson's is also an easy walk. I feel absolutely fortunate to have found this place and look forward to staying here again.

I enjoyed my stay in the Tourmaline Studio. You can't beat the price or the location! It was nice to have a parking spot as well as a private outdoor patio. The studio is mins to the beach and within walking distance to some great restaurants, coffee houses, and stores. It was great to be able to bring my dog along; she enjoyed running on the beach every morning. The owners were very easy to work with, and I would definitely stay here again!

Alisa was so easy to communicate with and so quick to respond to emails! Her and her husband were there for any questions we had! We were greeted with a bag of our fav chips and salsa and margarita mix, which trust me i wanted but i am 5 months preggo! The condo was perfect for my husband and I. The location was prime, down the street from the beach, grocery store, tons of restaurants/taco stands (my fav) and having the bikes was awesome! The condo was so clean, well-kept and the shower was amazing! We loved it and would recommend this condo to everyone! Thank you Alisa!!

I stayed for 4 days in this quaint bungalow and wish I lived there. The comfy residence is very well-maintained. The owners (Alisa & Darren) take pride in their home and their rentals. They are the friendliest people, easy to get along with them and are non-intrusive. They are animal lovers and have two adorable dogs - Zipper and Buster. I am a fair judge and do not give out 5 stars very easily, but they deserve all 5. I definitely recommend staying here. I will most likely return, if schedules permit and have told family and friends. If you have any specific questions, feel free to e-mail me.

My wife and I and our two cats stayed at the studio while our house was being tented for termites. It's clean and comfortable, and has a convenient parking space as well as ample street parking. The neighborhood is quiet and safe, and Tourmaline Surfing park/beach is just a few blocks away. Lots of restaurants and coffee shops within easy walking distance. We had a wonderful stay at the studio!

My husband and I stayed at Tourmaline Beach Studio in April 2010 (my first time to San Diego). From the first correspondence with the owners (Darren & Alisa), we knew we were in great hands. We drove from Vail, CO, with our dog (he had just been diagnosed with lymphoma, so we knew this would likely be his last trip with us); located the rental without difficulty, and settled quickly and comfortably into a clean, cozy studio with everything we needed. They even had margarita fixings set up for us with chips and salsa! The enclosed back patio with swing, table, and grill, was a great bonus, too! We surfed, cooked, explored the neighborhoods, and just thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. Sadly, before our trip had ended, our dog took a turn for the worse. We contacted Alisa for a vet recommendation, and she helped us at a moment's notice. Although we had to say goodbye to our Pooh in San Diego, and left a day early, Alisa and Darren returned our deposit and last night's rent without hesitation. They also brought their dog by for some canine therapy, and hugged us (though we were essentially strangers). I cannot express what that meant to us at the time, and does to this day. The caring and warmth they showed us - from the top condition of their rental, to the truly beautiful support in our hour of need - says everything. Please put this property on your list. you won't regret it. P.S. The shower is awesome!!!!!

We found this property to be charming and comfortable. Yes, it is small, so be prepared. But the location is excellent for walking and biking about. It feels very private. Our hosts were thoughtful, understanding, and very helpful. We can't wait to come back. Even Nikko, our Shiba Inu, had a wonderful time.

My boyfriend and I stayed with our two dogs (1 big, 1 small) here to celebrate our anniversary in Feb 2010. The small apt had a parking spot, a gorgeous enclosed outdoor patio, cable tv, stunning shower (you'll have to see it), comfortable furniture, and every amenity needed to spend a few days at the beach! It was so nice and clean, and our hosts were so gracious. We rode bikes around in the daytime, or just walked the pups the mile to the restaurants on Garnet and the PB Pier. We loved our visit and would LOVE to stay here again!

We lived in San Diego for almost 15 years, so it's nice to come 'home' to the beach! Being able to bring our 2 large dogs with us was a treat! Everything is within walking/biking distance.....restaurants, shopping, the beach!! We have returned several times and intend on being back again! Darren and Alisa have thought of everything to make your stay enjoyable!
