Montana Graduation Weekend

Guest: GEP (Pa.)
Date of Stay: 05/16/12 Review Submitted: 05/22/12

This is a fabulous house for family and friends to share as you explore the wonders of Paradise Valley. The listing and photos were very accurate but at the same time both are unable to capture the magic you will find at Paradise Mt. retreat. The owners were very helpful with the little details that made our stay 5 star. Being just 10 minutes away from Chico Springs is a big plus for exceptional fine dining and a fun evening of honky tonk music and dancing in the saloon on a weekend night. Not to mention the house is only 30 minutes from Yellowstone National Park. You will also find fly fishing on the Yellowstone river is an experience of a life time when the river is not blown.

All of us enjoyed the weekend we spent with you and would recommend it to any one that would like a place to stay and enjoy an at home atmosphere. The hiking trails were a big hit and volley ball on the lawn was an enjoyment by the big and little kids. Thanks for your hospitality.

Amazing Experience in Paradise Valley

Guest: KD (Fort Collins, CO)
Date of Stay: 10/12/11 Review Submitted: 01/16/12

We enjoyed this unbelievable property in the middle of October as a party of 8 adults and 9 children. With such a large party, it was tricky to find a place that would fit all of us comfortably, as well as meet our needs with so many little children. We were beyond impressed with this amazing piece of paradise...it surpassed all of our expectations. The extra apartment added the little bit of extra sleeping space we needed. The swing set, trampoline, hot tub, vast areas to explore and the added touches in and around the cabin made for an absolutely perfect vacation. We had a blast at the hot springs with the free passes which were provided for us. The views were breathtaking! This is a fantastic find in Paradise Valley. It is a vacation we will never forget.

Just perfect.

Guest: Alessandro P. (Milano, Italy)
Date of Stay: 08/04/11 Review Submitted: 09/27/11

We (4 adults + 2 kids age 5 and 6) stayed at Paradise Mountain Retreat for 12 days and we enjoyed every single moment. The property is nestled in a very quiet and lovely corner on the hillside just minutes away from the river. The home is very comfortable, furnished with a real touch of class and provided with everything you might need. Anything is new or perfectly maintained. We felt home from the very first moment (and Miriam and her family were very friendly and welcoming). The garden is facing a gorgeous view on the valley and on Emigrant Peak with ever changing light. It was perfect for the children who enjoyed the many outdoor toys (especially the trampoline), the hot tub, the bunnies and deer on the lawn, the campfire and the raspberries … it was hard to get them back inside for dinner. The valley: well there is a good reason to name it Paradise Valley. It is just beautiful, we especially liked the drive on the East River Road and the hike to Pine Creek Falls, but every corner of the valley has its own beauty (never the same since the light change dramatically during the day). Go to Pine Creek Café for really good food and atmosphere (advanced reservation!!!) and horse riding at Chico for a nice stroll on the hills with a view on the surrounding mountain ranges. Stop at the little café and bakery in Emigrant for a break and a chat with the very welcoming local guys. Visit the charming little western town of Livingston. Just discover your own reason to like this beautiful place. The park: Yellowstone National Park does not need any introduction, and is just a short drive south (but remember, it is huge, plan your time ahead). We would recommend to visit Lamar Valley early in the morning, we did it and have seen the dawn in the middle of a huge herd of bison, elk, pronghorns, grizzly bears, a picture-perfect osprey nest, bald eagles and even wolves … Well it was just perfect. We loved it and we are sure you will love it as well.

Magnificent Views

Guest: Anne (Austin, TX, USA)
Date of Stay: 06/08/11 Review Submitted: 06/18/11

The spectacular views of Emigrant Peak set the tone for our stay at the house on the hill. Deer munched on the grass in the front yard. We enjoyed our hike on the property and panaromic views at the top were wonderful. On our trip we saw bison, elk, bears, anteloupe, mountain goats, big horn sheep and a golden eagle in Yellowstone Park. Some of our party of eight went horseback riding. The house was very comfortable and we could have fit a few more people easily. Miriam is very gracious and welcoming. It was a wonderful trip.

I hosted a yoga retreat in March at this lovely home in Emigrant, Montana. The guests and I thoroughly enjoyed the spacious and modern kitchen, the comfortable furniture and beds, and the breathtaking views of the mountains from the hilltop perch. Hostess Miriam went out of her way to make sure that all our needs were met and I can't image having rented a better place for our retreat. I HIGHLY recommend renting this home for a relaxing and rewarding experience.

This gorgeous home exceeded my expectations! It was perfect for our girls' getaway. From the deer in the yard, to the absolute peace and quiet, to the hot tub, to the granite counter tops, to Miriam's kindness, to the beautiful bit Montana sky - this was BY FAR at the top of my list of my favorite vacation properties - and I've rented a lot of vacation properties. You absolutely can't go wrong with this little piece of heaven :)

It Doesn't Get Much Better Than Paradise Mountain Retreat

Guest: Kim & Judy (Atlanta)
Date of Stay: 08/09/10 Review Submitted: 08/31/10

Paradise Mountain Retreat more than lived up to our expectations. Nestled into a hillside near Emigrant, MT, it has superb views of the Yellowstone River Valley (aptly named Paradise Valley) and the Absaroka Mountains to the East. The house was clearly built for real people to live in, and easily accommodated ourselves, our four children, two sons-in law, and our four grandchildren. The kitchen is well-equipped, and was the launching pad for several great family feasts. The house and property are beautifully kept up, with something for everyone: a hot tub, an ample deck, the owner's beautiful garden, a swing set, a large lawn for impromptu soccer games, and a family of deer to keep the lawn nicely trimmed. Behind the house are hillsides just begging to be climbed. Miriam Gelderloos, the owner, could not have been nicer or more helpful, and we were happy to see her when she'd come over to work in the garden or take care of some other task. While one could enjoy a quite nice vacation without ever leaving the property, the surrounding area provides a rich array of activities for young and old, the adventurous and the not-so-much-so, all in one of the most magnificent natural settings in the country. Yellowstone Park is there for the exploring; fisherfolk and rafting enthusiasts have the Yellowstone River; a historic spa, Chico Hot Springs, is just a few miles away; hiking trails are everywhere. You can't go snorkling or surfing, but there's not much else that you can't do in or near Paradise Valley. Nearby Livingston is a fine example of a western town, with some nice restaurants and shops (I have to especially mention Rosa's Pizza since our son is the manager!). In short, would we recommend this property to a friend? Yes! Yes! Yes!

We had the whole family there with kids and 3 grandkids. This was a great place for everyone. There is lots to do the and the kitchen is fabulous for cooking for a group. There is 30 minute proximity to the park and this was wonderful. The little store/gas station at the bottom of the hill is great and very helpful. We were there for a week and this will be a vacation that will be remembered for a very long time. The view from the front porch is simply fantastic.

Family reunion

Guest: Rachael&Kate (Lino Lakes, MN)
Date of Stay: 07/18/10 Review Submitted: 09/23/10

We celebrated my parents 50th wedding anniversary at the Paradise Mountain Retreat and stayed their for a week in July. We thoroughly enjoyed our visit as the surrounding area is spectacular, and we took part in the available horse backing riding, hiking, white water rafting, touring Yellowstone, and swimming at Chico. The Paradise Mountain Retreat worked out great and comfortably held all 20 of us. The view of Emigrant Peak was stellar, the hilly bluffs behind the house were a blast to explore, the campfire area was great for story telling, and the hot tub was perfect after a long day of hiking. In short, we greatly enjoyed the Paradise Mountain Retreat, we would recommend it to others, and we hope to return.

Pictures and commentary of this property do not do it justice. Our family of 8 adults and 5 preschoolers just returned and had a complete blast. The house is lovely and is beautifully maintained. There was lots to keep the kids busy while the adults just relaxed. We made multiple trips into Yellowstone, but were always glad to get "home". The Gelderloos family is wonderful and make you feel welcome, like personal friends. We enjoyed s'mores by the campfire, hikes to the cave on property, deer munching grass in our front yard, hours of bouncing on the trampoline, and just hanging out!! I can't imagine how it could have been better. Tips on activities beside Yellowstone that our family enjoyed: Livingston is a great little town to visit and we enjoyed spending time at Chico Hot Springs, but an unexpected adventure was the museum in Bozeman. Our daughter and her family love dinosaurs and museums and ofter visit museums. They were blown away by the museum in Bozeman. They ranked it as high has any big city museum. It was very, very kids friendly and helped the kids connect with Yellowstone. They ended up spending an entire day there. If you rent this property, a successful vacation is guaranteed.

Beautiful, relaxing vacation home

Thank you Miriam for a wonderful vacation. We stayed for the last week of June, 2010 with 4 adults and 5 children (ages 7-11). The kids loved jumping on the trampoline, playing on the swing set, roasting marshmellows on the campfire and exploring the property. The adults loved playing horseshoes, relaxing on the hammocks, and just hanging out on this beautiful property. We all loved watching the bunnies and deers in the yard every day. The property is about a 30 minute drive from the North entrance of Yellowstone, but appreciated the quiet surroundings. We recommend the hike to Pine Creek Falls!

The Rose Family Reunion

Guest: Jan & Merv (Michigan)
Date of Stay: 06/09/10 Review Submitted: 07/16/10

We so enjoyed our stay at Paradise Mountain Retreat June 9-16. It was absolutely perfect for our group of 16, ranging in age from 4 to 63. The sleeping arrangements were quite comfortable, and there was plenty of community space for us to have card games, conversation, food and fun galore! With the views out every window, we were lured to the great outdoors to enjoy time on the deck, in the hot tub, and playing in the yard (bring a Frisbee for great fun). The kids absolutely loved the hammock and the in-ground trampoline just a hop from the deck. We also enjoyed the fire pit at night under the multitude of stars - so incredible! We were close enough to Yellowstone National Park for day trips in. Gardiner had some good restaurants, galleries, gas and groceries for stocking up on our way back "home". We had golfers who found several great courses nearby. We also enjoyed the hot springs, the spa for massages, and horseback riding offered at Chico Hot Springs, just a few minutes drive away. The Cowboy Bar in Emigrant just down the mountain from the house was a great meeting spot, complete with Moose Drool on tap. Emigrant also had a post office, grocery and bakery which were handy. Thanks so much to you, Miriam, and your husband for our stay in such a wonderful home, in such an incredible setting. Your warm hospitality (including fresh greens from the garden and tomatoes from the hot house) was so greatly enjoyed. I am so glad we chose to stay in Paradise Valley - the peace of your place was a wonderful respite from the busy lives we all live!

This house provided a wonderful retreat for our group of women. We cooked glorious meals, enjoyed the hot tub and the view, jumped on the trampoline, and went hiking on the property and off. The pictures here capture the place well. Great kitchen, eating areas, porch, kids stuff (including a cave). 5 miles from Chico. We couldn't have asked for anything more.

Date of Stay: 05/16/10 Review Submitted: 05/28/10

We had ages from 2 to 88 and all had a great time in the house. Plenty of bedrooms, great table for all to eat and plenty of deck space to eat. The hot tub got a little crowded. Perfect place and house with lots to do. We hiked the property, had evening fires in the fire pit, as well as s'mores. We hiked yellowstone, white water rafted the yellowstone river, spent a day at the Chico Hot Springs horseback riding, soaking or bodies and dinner at the restaurant was great. Thank you MIriam for all your hospitality and we look forward to returning soon.

Nicest place we have ever rented on VRBO. The house is freshly renovated, clean and well furnished, with a very good and completely usable kitchen (we cooked dinner and breakfast all but one day). The views through the many windows are wonderful. Our boys slept out in the TeePee one night, to their delight, while we enjoyed the hot tub. Hiking up the mountain is right out the back door. It's also a great area for a vacation. We rode horses, fly fished, hiked, went to the hot springs spa and generally had a wonderful time. Miriam is a gracious and welcoming hostess. Can't recommend this vacation rental enough. Peggy Berg
