Amazing House - I highly recommend!

Guest: Andrea (Huntersville)
Date of Stay: 05/04/12 Review Submitted: 05/09/12

My family and I celebrated my Mother's 65th birthday on this property. There were 14 of us total. 8 adults and 6 kids. The house is beautiful, clean and fully equipped. The kids played wii and enjoyed the movies. Us adults enjoyed the hot tub and the views. I highly recommend this place to anyone!

Great weekend!

Guest: Ladies Weekend (Greensboro, NC)
Date of Stay: 03/23/12 Review Submitted: 03/26/12

We loved the house! The pictures on the website truly do not do it justice. The house is clean, organized and had everything that we needed for a wonderful weekend. The location is very close to the parkway and easy to get to stores, restaurants, etc. Sitting outside on the decks you feel like you are literally in the clouds. Thank you!

Perfect Vacation Getaway

Guest: Florida (West Palm Beach, FL )
Date of Stay: 01/02/12 Review Submitted: 01/09/12

The cabin was absolutely amazing. The views are spectacular. We saw a deer and rabbits really close to the cabin. It snowed our first few days there and the kids loved playing in the snow and then coming inside to sit by the fireplace. We can't wait to go back!

FIRST CLASS SPACIOUS LOG CABIN - LOVED IT!

Guest: Sonny (New Bern, NC)
Date of Stay: 11/22/11 Review Submitted: 11/29/11

Awesome, amazing, incredible...words we used often to describe this three story authentic log cabin during our family's Thanksgiving week stay. Location is fantastic, just outside of Boone and minutes away from Blowing Rock. Gorgeous view of Grandfather Mountain and the sunsets, two huge wrap around decks. Inside features are beyond expectations, this cabin has it all; kitchen is top notch, bedrooms and bathrooms are spacious and wonderfully decorated with ample space and lots of comfort items in each room. Our extended family of 15, ranging from age 1 to 77, felt like we were honored guests of the owners. The owners were very accommodating to all of our questions prior to our trip with very prompt and detailed replies. We really did not need to leave the cabin, but some of our group enjoyed zip lining at Hawksnest, about 30 minutes away, shopping at Tanger outlets and Mast General Store, both only short drives away, and we enjoyed Woodlands Barbeque in Blowing Rock for lunch prior to leaving the mountain (not fancy, but good eats). This cabin's listing on VRBO is very accurate, the pictures represent some of the amazing decor, but the openness and majestic views really become evident when you stay. Highly recommend this cabin to families and small groups; it is awesome, amazing, incredible.... can't wait to visit again.

Best VRBO rental!

Guest: Nikki (Raleigh, NC)
Date of Stay: 11/19/11 Review Submitted: 01/12/12

Our family stayed in the fabulous home in November 2011. It was just a few nights as a quick getaway and it was great! The owner was great to work with, very easy to book. This was our third VRBO rental and the best. the house is in a great location...just a few minute drive to Blowing Rock and is nice and secluded. The house was better than the photos...very clean. the kitchen had everything I needed to make some meals (although we ate out dinner each night) and we all enjoyed the hot tub. The kids loved the loft area. My only complaint is if you put the mugs in the microwave they heat up and you can't hold them! We drove the parkway and hiked Crabtree Falls. We really enjoyed the fireplace. We would love to come back in the summer sometime! If we come back to Boone this will definitely be our first choice to stay.

Outstanding accomodations in Blowing Rock!

Guest: Rod (Charlotte, NC)
Date of Stay: 10/20/11 Review Submitted: 10/23/11

This is a fantastic location ... very private and still convenient (less than 10 minutes) to downtown Blowing Rock or Boone. The cabin is really, really nice, CLEAN, and fully stocked with all the comforts of home, great hot tub, and the master suite is plush! Plenty of space for the kids and adults to spread out. The sunset behind Grandfather Mountian is stunning. The owner was great to work with, very accomodating. Thanks Mel! We will be back!

Owner response:Our cabin is nestled in the woods, very private serene setting. The parkway is only 1/4 mile and downtown Blowing Rock and Applachian ski resort are within minutes away. The views of Grandfather Mtn are breathtaking on a clear day. We strive to create a home away from home feeling... We work with our renters on an individual basis and take pride in maintaining a one of a kind cabin. We hope we exceed our renters expectations and look forward to have them stay with us again. Thanks for the positive feedback!!!

Wonderful again!

Guest: Robin Y. (Raleigh, NC)
Date of Stay: 10/13/11 Review Submitted: 11/09/11

We just spent our second fall weekend in Melanie's beautiful mountain home. Pictures do not do this home justice, and the location can't be beat. We had questions about how to start the fireplace and work the hot tub, and Melanie got back to us by phone immediately and walked us through everything we needed. We are already looking forward to our trip next year!

Owner response:Our cabin is a one of a kind. Can accomodate a large group or cozy for just a few. Great location, very private serene setting and nestled in the woods. We communicate with each and every one of our renters on a personal level and are pleased that they appreciate our Family Cabin as much as we do. We always strive to exceed their expectations!!

Great Place To Celebrate Three Birthdays And One Sixty-Third Wedding Anniversary

Guest: Robert (Hickory)
Date of Stay: 06/04/11 Review Submitted: 06/22/11

First off the pictures you see on the website do not truly show the beauty of this vacation cabin. It is beautifully decorated and spacious. The bedrooms are roomy and very nice. The kitchen is great and is well equipped. The deck is very large with a great view of Grandfather Mountain about 20 miles away. The location is in the middle of woods but easy to access. Plenty of parking space. It may be in the wood but it is close to the Blue Ridge Parkway, Blowing Rock and Boone. We (nine of us) enjoyed our stay and wew will certainly consider this place next year. One final note - the owner is very nice to deal with!!!!

Owner response:The cabin is a perfect place to host family reunions, get together with friends or vacation. Lots of space to roam around inside and out with an incredible view of Grandather Mountain from the rear deck. Super convienent location....but yet private and serene setting. Mild temps in the summer, warm days, cool nites!!!

Fantastic Cabin - Great Getaway

Guest: Kalab (Charlotte, NC)
Date of Stay: 01/28/11 Review Submitted: 01/31/11

The Cabin is a fantastic place, full of delightful surprizes in a quiet setting that allows you to enjoy the blessings of nature and scenary. We have a large group with many kids and everybody had enough private and public space to enjoy each others company. We spent a good bit of time admiring the decorations at the cabin. A recent snowfall provided for good sleding for kids and the adults. Only drawback - a 4x4 or snow chains/cables are a requirement to access the last 1/4 mile drive. All in all - we have taken some great memories with us from the cabin and certainly plan on revisitng.

Great Vacation House

Guest: Queen City Crew (Charlotte, NC)
Date of Stay: 01/21/11 Review Submitted: 02/03/11

Some friends and I stayed at this house a few weeks back and had an absolute blast! The place was everything it advertised. It had that country/hunting lodge feel that we wanted and it delivered! Bedrooms were spacious, bathrooms were great, and the kitchen was fabulous. Breathtaking views from the balcony. Extremely easy to get to with plenty of parking if you needed to bring more than a few vehicles. I would recommend this place to anybody that was looking. Big thank you goes out to the Mayeux family!

Exceeded expectations!

Guest: Jake (Saint Augustine FL)
Date of Stay: 01/14/11 Review Submitted: 01/23/11

I rented the cabin along with 2 other families. There was plenty of space. We rented the main cabin and the downstairs apartment. The location was fabulous. The views from the upper level deck are great. The cabin is furnished with nothing but the best. There was plenty of linen. The kitchen was FULLY stocked. The cabin feels remote in that you are surrounded by woods, but it is really convenient to downtown Blowing Rock and Boone. We saw deer right outside the cabin 3 of the 5 days. I would recommend this cabin to others and I will be definitely staying there again. Only suggestion to others: use an all wheel or at least front wheel drive car for your trip in the winter. The two other families couldn't make it up the road due to their rear wheels spinning in the snow. But, being at the top of a mountain makes it well worth it.

Happy New Year

Had a wonderful New Years weekend with friends! Beautifully decorated with lots of room. Did not leave the cabin at all. Kitchen had everything you could think of to use for cooking. Also used the basement apartment which was very comfortable. The owners were easy to contact and answered all questions prompty. (Do not use GPS to locate as the mountain roads take you to a dead end with GPS - suggest to get verbal directions.)

The ultimate mountain experience!

Guest: Angie (Clinton, NC)
Date of Stay: 10/07/10 Review Submitted: 10/22/10

This cabin is the ultimate vacation spot! The pictures on the profile are only a glimpse of this cabin's beauty. It is immaculate inside and out, the kitchen is a cook's dream, and the decor is top-notch. The hot tub and huge decks are fabulous. We were blown away when we walked in. I had no idea what a beautiful place this would be. The view is awesome and I took pictures from the decks every day and evening. The location is excellent, just minutes to Blowing Rock and Boone. We went to Tweetsie Railroad which was 5 minutes away, and to Grandfather Mountain, about 30 minutes away. Shopping is minutes away, and so are the Mast General Stores. The owners were easy to deal with, (attentive to my frequent emails - LOL) and quick with correspondence. On our first day there, we started looking at dates for our next vacation at this cabin, and next time we plan to just stay at the cabin and not even go anywhere!

This house was perfect for the weekend of our son's Blowing Rock wedding! Our family (10 of us) stayed there for 3 nights and even had the rehearsal dinner there the night before. The kitchen was great for cooking for a crowd and the view from the deck for our guests was spectacular! There was even a fireworks show over Grandfather Mountain at the end of our dinner! We could not have asked for a more perfect family weekend. Our grandkids enjoyed the hot tub, too. The owners were a joy to work with. I hope that we'll get to return some day!

We recently got back from four funfilled days at THE CABIN(blowing rock). This mountain home is much more than dipicted. The interior was fabulous with so many beautiful views from all windows. Plenty of room! We spent hours sitting on the back deck enjoying the breeze and watching the deer cross the driveway. The Mayuex's (owners) were so friendly and helpful, providing all kinds of information for us proior to arriving. I highly reccomend this mountain and staying at THE CABIN. We truely hope to come back sometime soon with girlfirends!

This house was so great!! My friends and I went to Blowing Rock/Boone for a wedding and it was the perfect house for us. We didn't even want to leave to go to all the festivities! The pictures don't do it justice. Everyone was so in awe by all the detail that Melanie & her family have put into decorating it. The back porch and hot tub were our favorite spots! We had the best weather and hung out outside whenever we were home! Thanks again Melanie for being so easy to work with! We had the best time and there has already been talk about just taking a trip back for fun so we can enjoy the house more! Would recommend it to anyone looking for a really awesome house!

Trust me on this one folks!! This cabin has it all and much much more. Twenty-four inches of snow and an ice storm could not keep this grandmother from giving this Christmas present to kids and grandkids. As good as the pictures are they do not do it justice! After the "wow's" and "cool's" upon entering we were just in time to get a family picture (on the deck) of a spectacular sunset with Grandfather Mountain in the back ground. Melanie was a joy to work with. You can't go wrong with this one.

This is a beautiful home with great views. It was a perfect place to gather with our friends. We were close to Blowing Rock for shopping and eating, but enough out of town that we enjoyed the peace and quiet of the area. The view of the night sky is amazing from the open deck.

What a fabulous cabin - the view, the amenities, the location - all top of the line! Pictures can not do this cabin justice - the accomodations are truley luxurious. Watching the sunset and stars come out while we relaxed in the hottub after a full day of white water rafting was a major highlight for 6 moms on a get-a-way weekend. This cabin has it all - lavish accomodations, a great location, privacy and a wonderful view. Hearing the faint train whistle from Tweetsie was an added bonus. Thank you for opening up your home to us - it was a decadent treat.

Scintillating, luxurious, abounding; those are three words that come to mind when describing this fabulous cabin. For three years, our team has spent a week renting a log cabin in and around Boone/ Blowing Rock. The Mayeux cabin has been the best of all! It’s the little things that can just go above and beyond. From the microwave that looks like an oven to the closet with Narnia on the other side, this log cabin has it all. It was a very pleasant experience and we wish you all the best.-Abe & 2008 SPX XC Team
