Missing a Few Things
Missing a Few Things
My family and I stayed at the cabin over the Labor Day weekend. The grounds are nice and the hammock was a favorite. The bees mentioned by another reviewer are still there and a couple managed to get into the cabin, but we actually enjoyed watching them buzz in and out of their nest. It was very fascinating for my kids. There are some cute frogs along the pond that the kids tried in vain to catch. And as a surprise there was a paddle boat for our use to paddle around the pond. A trampoline floats on the water and my kids had high hopes for that, but unfortunately, it was not inflated enough to hold anybody. So, that was a bit of a letdown. We chose a hot weekend to stay here and the upstairs gets stifling. We turned up the AC, but still had to sleep on the couches downstairs the first night. There's no remotes for the fans in the upstairs bedrooms, so one fan couldn't be turned on at all and the other fan runs on hyper-speed and can't be turned down. The TV is upstairs, so watching a little nighttime college football proved to be uncomfortable with the heat. By the second day, the cabin cooled down enough upstairs to be comfortable and we were able to sleep up there. If going during a hot period, allow several hours for the upstairs to cool. Also, Old Man's Cave is NOT 20 minutes away. The city of Logan is 20 minutes away and then it's another 20 minutes to the caves. We were meeting family and arrived 20 minutes late due to this misinformation, so if planning on spending time at Old Man's Cave, prepare for a 40 minute trip. We had a blast zip lining at Hocking Hills Canopy Tours. It's extremely expensive, but well worth it; especially the super zip. Kids loved the fast, superman experience! While I think this is a fine cabin, my problem is that I chose this cabin over all the others for three reasons: the donkeys, the fishing, and the Foosball. The donkeys were not there. The pond was not stocked, and if it had been it either A: was fished out by the time we got there or B: the fish all died. My husband is an experienced fisherman and knew within the first half hour that there were no fish in this pond. And lastly, there was no ball for the Foosball, so we didn't get to use it. So, after spending $250 a night, I do feel we were owed a bit of a refund for the misrepresentation of several things. It's a decent cabin, but luxury? No.

Owner response: We are so sorry to hear that our cabin did not exceed your expectations on your stay. We definitely appreciate your suggestions on improving the cabin/property and will work very dilligently to improve the property based upon your suggestions. Sadly, one of the donkeys recently passed within the past month and there were none present during your stay. The property does get quite hot in the summer weather - especially when the temperatures rise above the 90's. The air conditioning unit is turned off in between our guest's stays and we apologize that the upstairs did not reach a comfortable temperature for your first evening. The fans and foosball table will be also be inspected to improve functionality and ensure all components are in top working order for future guests. The property is located in Bremen Ohio - we strongly recommend all guests mapquest or use there GPS to confirm destination distances prior to leaving the cabin. A new cabin is being built on the property, perhaps you will allow us a second opportunity to exceed your expectations with a future booking for 2014. Again, we thank you so very much for all of your suggestions - as we hope to improve the property on a continuous basis.

Awesome view, very relaxing stay
My family and I went down for the weekend and we had a wonderful time. The pond is still in the process of filling up with water as they said that it had recently been renovated. Honestly, we aren't avid fishers so it wasn't too much of an inconvenience. The beds were really surprisingly comfortable - and I'm picky! There is a flat screen TV in the loft, which we didn't use but it was still nice to have. I can't say the same about the Jacuzzi hot tub, we all LOVED that! The fireplace in the center of the living room was lit the majority of the weekend which made for a really peaceful time inside and out. I would recommned this cabin to anyone that loves seclusion, luxury and a relaxing time. Loads of space for large families but just as perfect for a couple. The donkeys!? Super hilarious, my nieces and nephews got a kick out of them, we popped popcorn and fed them! They really made for an interesting mascot.

Property is not as advertised
Property is not as advertised
The cabin and surrounding property are not quite as advertised. The pond has been recently rebuilt, contains very little water (dirty), and it not stocked. The gas grill was not usable due to thread damage to the connecting line and there was no electric grill. Deck furniture and hammocks were not clean and contained mold. Persistent and annoying flies were all over and there was a very large, active bee's nest in a tree near the front door. Ants were numerous both inside and outside the cabin. The grass was long and needed to be mowed. The airconditioning was adequate for the downstairs but was insufficient for the upstairs bedrooms. There was no TV downstairs and only one in a small open, hot room on the second floor outside the bedroom area. The satellite was very limited in the number of channels available and didn't have common ones such as ESPN. There was no video, CD, or DVD library. A large section of the master bedroom wall was damaged. The plumbing had air in the lines and every time you used it at a sink it would spray water all over you. All the appliances worked okay and the bathroom was in good condition. Everything else was as described and in good condition. The beds were very comfortable. For the rental fee being charged, I was expecting a lot more luxury as the name implies. I would not recommend staying here until improvements have been made.

Owner response: Hello, We are very sorry that you did not have an excellent stay at our cabin - we do apologize for any inconvenience you encountered. Our pond was recently excavated and added on to - and unfortunately it does take some time for the water clear and fill up per the natural springs in the area. We have not had any complaints regarding the gas grill nor the exterior furniture from other guests but will definitely look into improving both of those items. We apologize for any inconvenience with pests during your stay - we have the cabin treated monthly - as it is surround by 85 acres and can be subject to many elements of nature. We do not provide a video or dvd library at the property and only one tv as most of our guests enjoy the outdoors and surrounding activities during their stay. Thank you again for your list of improvements - we are always wanting to improve the stay for our guests.
Visited the cabin in early fall of 09 for a weekend getaway bachelor party. Absolute blast. Everyone slept comfortably and the cabin is amazing. You are definitley not roughing it here. It is filled with all the amenities you need including a washing machine and a crazy toaster from the future. Add in the fussball table, hot tub, beer and the weekend is set.
