Enjoy the best of both worlds - the seclusion of Polar Peak Lodges nestled among the tall pines while the convenience of ski-in accommodation. This mountainside town home is beautifully appointed, and has a well equipped granite kitchen ideal for large families.

The town home works extremely well for two families. Parents can enjoy privacy upstairs (3 bedrooms - master has queen bed with ensuite and walk-in; 2nd and 3rd bedrooms have king and double beds respectively, all decorated with True North pine furniture). The entertainment unit on the mainfloor features a flat screen tv, dvd and stereo. The lower level is great for the kids, with 2 sets of single bunks, a full private bathroom, and separate entertainment area with fireplace.

After an incredible day of skiing, mountain biking, rafting or hiking, relax away the aches in your own private hot tub or challenge friends to a game of foosball. In the warmer months entertain on the spacious balcony complete with natural gas BBQ. (Note: Damage deposit required)

Why the Owner Chose Fernie

We vacationed in Fernie in 2000, and fell in love with the hometown feel and friendliness of this small and historic mining community which offered the best powder skiing in Canada.
Polar Peak is a magical place for us, nestled amongst the pines and firs at the Fernie Alpine Resort. By day it is a great base for the many activities offered in Fernie and the Elk Valley. By night it is engulfed by a wondrous canopy of stars so bright that you realize that the universe has taken extra special care to create this unique and unspoiled mecca. It is a place to re-balance, to pursue the joy of life (and its real priorities!), and enjoy family and friends.

Our favourite outings – apart from fabulous skiing (Oh... what powder!!!), hiking the Lost Boys Pass along the ridge to Polar Peaks or the trails around Island Lake Lodge, and thereafter enjoying a BBQ with friends. Farther afield, hiking Glacier and Waterton National Parks.

The Unique Benefits at this Townhome

Our townhome is on the quiet side of the Polar Peak townhouse development, away from the road traffic going to the hill. It has ample parking, and unlike the other units, has an extra wide balcony, which is delightful for summer lounging and winter BBQing.

Here at Polar Peak you can enjoy the true Fernie experience, both summer and winter. Hike the Ridge Walk, view the wonderful Kootenays from on high, bike along side mountain streams, soak up the sun at Lake Koocanusa, cliff jump at the Silver Lakes, drift boat the majestic Elk casting your line for cutthroat and bull trout, absorb the smells of the giant cedars or catch a glimpse of a moose and her calf at Island Lake, read about the legend of the Ghostrider on Mount Hosmer or attend the popular Fernie Writers’ Festival. If you are a golfer, Fernie has its own course, and there are many championship courses within half an hour of the townhome.

Experience the legendary Fernie “powder” where the locals adhere to the 20 cm snow rule, downing their tools and shutting their businesses to head to the mountain. The town also features good dining, interesting historical walks, and a thriving arts community. Many who come to Fernie don’t leave, and as a result there are interesting folk here from around the world.

Fernie is three hours from Calgary and its international airport, and accessible by Hwy 3 through the Crowsnest Pass. The townhome is a five minute drive from town.

We (Sue and Richard) hail from Southwestern Ontario and Trinidad respectively, and currently make Toronto our home. Our blended family of four children, all in their twenties, are now leaving the nest one by one. We are an eclectic group of avid skiers/snowboarders, swimmers, scuba divers, hikers, sailors, musicians, food and wine lovers!

Great accommodation with ample room for everyone. Plenty of housewares to feed the 7 of us and the appliances were very new. The private hot tub was an extra bonus to soothe those muscles after some hard riding. The owners, Richard & Sue were very easy to deal with and very accommodating to our needs. We had an excellent time and with 3 levels everyone could find some quiet time when needed. Two thumbs up.

This condo was perfect for our needs. We had lots of sleeping space for 7 adults and two children. The kitchen was a dream to work in and the hot tub was the perfect thing to come back to after a day of skiing. The condo was convenient to the ski hill - just a short walk to the hill and we could ski from the hill to the back door. Richard and Sue were helpful and easy to work with - the perfect hosts. I would highly recommend this place to anyone needing accommodation in Fernie. We had a wonderful time.

Polar Peak Townhouse Home Away fromm Home

I and 3 of my friends had the pleasure to stay 9 nights in this Ski-in Condo with a great location on the Fernie Ski Hill. The owners Richard and Sue were great to deal with, were extreamly helpful, and always available by email or phone to answer questions. Richard even helped me to obtain discount lift tickets. The description of the unit was accurate, and the condo was clean, confortable, and spacious. The kitchen was modern and well stocked with anything you would need to cook meals. The unit contained 2 TV's including a flat screen, a complete laundry, and stereo system A 5 minute walk through the woods brought you to the ski hill, and you could ski right down to the unit at the end of the day. The rental provided a private out door hot tub with great views of the surrounding woods. Needles to say, we spent every afternoon in the hot tub after enjoying some amazing powder days during our stay in Fernie. I would highly recommend this townhouse for up to 8 or 10 people, or two families with children. The 3 floor unit provided alot of privacy, and the 3.5 bathrooms made for a very confortable stay. I really can't think of any negatives concerning this rental, other than the fact that the time spent there went too quickly. Fernie was one of the best mountains I have ever skied and we were blessed with 4 feet of snow during our visit. Book this condo, you won't be dissaponted !

This place is great; it has ski-in option, good location, great amenities and a well maintained property. The property is located at the resort, about a 10 minute drive from the town of Fernie. The hot tub is perfect for day-end relaxation. The property was exactly what we were expecting from the photos and comfortably slept 6 adults; we never felt like we were crammed into the space. The layout is great with all different types of beds, as well as 2 sets of bunks on the lower floor; it would suit a family with kids, or any configuration of friends. The owners are very easy to contact and helpful in answering all of our questions. I would definitely recommend this property to anyone who is looking for a great place to enjoy a relaxing vacation. It would suit both winter and summer vacations and is in a very picturesque location. If you are there in the winter, I would suggest the skiing/boarding up on White Pass Chair, as it is incomparable.

the townhouse was clean and comfortable. The layout was comfortable for family meals and for bigger dinners. We had two families quite comfortably in the home. It was close to the hill and to Fernie. Richard and Sue were a pleasure to deal with -- friendly and helpful.
