Owner's Profile
Owner Description
Year Purchased: 2003
We bought the house in Gardiner to put us in the Gardiner School District so we can send our daughter to school there. We live 30 miles north of Gardiner in the middle of the Paradise Valley on a 10,000 acre cattle ranch that has been in the family since 1866.
Last year we completely renovated the house and started renting it as a vacation rental in the summer.
Why the Owner Chose Gardiner
Some of the favorite things about the property that people enjoy the most, is being able to walk to shops and restaurants in Gardiner. Yet when at the house, it feels "like you are in the middle of nowhere" with the Yellowstone River rushing by the deck. Also watching animals come out into the meadow across the river in the evening was another favorite.
The Unique Benefits of this House
Being so close to Yellowstone Park (literally across the river) it makes the perfect base for your day adventures into the Park.

My husband and I just returned from a trip to Yellowstone. We made this house our home base for the week. It was great. So very comfortable. It had everything we needed. I especially liked the deck. We could sit and watch antelopes and elk across the river. Two young mule deer came right up in the backyard and walked across the deck. We visit Yellowstone every few years and we would definitely stay here again.

A family of 4, we stayed for 4 nights and did almost all of Yellowstone from this very comfortable home. Easy to access the entire park, and then proceeded to our stay in a condo in Jackson Hole to do the Tetons. Had to get up early every morning to just sit and admire the awesome view. The house has everything you need to begin your day with a hearty breakfast, prepare and pack lunch and even dine in if you choose. Local store was well stocked, and the pizza across the street was great. Do not miss driving less than an hour to Chico's Hot Springs. Dinner was fantastic! Definetly a must....you need reservations! Would love to come back, but there are still so many more national parks to visit, and so little time!! I hope that we are as lucky with our future rentals!

The house was perfect for my family. We each had our own bedroom and space. It was a very short drive to Yellowstone each day. Small grocery store in town, so we enjoyed a few meals at the house. The view from the back deck was great. Highly recommend this property.

This was our second visit to Yellowstone. We stayed for one week. The house was perfect place for day adventures into Yellowstone. The house was very clean and comfortable. There are restaurants and shops within walking distance of the house, we ate at a couple of the restaurants and the food was good. Well equipped kitchen for meal preparation if you really wanted to cook, mainly we made sandwiches for lunch picnics in the park, though we did cook breakfast a few mornings. Having morning coffee, sitting on the deck listening to the sound of the Yellowstone river was great way to start the mornings. The deck was also great place to end a day of activities in the park relaxing with a beverage in the evening twilight. Other than hiking and sightseeing drives thru the park, we did the Yellowstone chuck wagon dinner and raft float thru the Grand Teton, both were enjoyable activities, though the drive to Moose junction in the Grand Teton is quite a drive. Also the kids (ages 5 to 16) all had fun playing in the snow at Mount Washburn and Sylvan pass. The owner was very helpful before our arrival providing information about various activities available within and outside of Yellowstone Park. The welcome basket filled with cookies and coffee was thoroughly enjoyed. On our next trip to Yellowstone I would definitely stay here again.

If you have the chance, this is one of the best vacation spots there is. My family from Kansas, Oklahoma, and Arkansas had a great time. The drive was worth it. Every morning waking up to the roaring Yellowstone River watching the animals across the way. Every day going into Yellowstone (5 minutes away) to see the wonders there. We saw bears, wolfs, elk, mountain goats, buffalo, many others. Every evening cooking out on the deck and enjoying the beautiful surrounding and company. All ages have a great time. The oldest 52 the youngest 5 months. The adults even white water rafted past the house. Where the kids could wave at it. This place was great. It was clean and close to everything. The owner was very accommodating - a new friend. Had a great time and can't wait to go back.

This was the perfect hub for our Yellowstone adventure. The house was perfect for our needs. Clean and well appointed. The beds very comfortable. Two bathrooms worked perfectly for our group of 6. We especially loved the deck that sits over the Yellowstone River. Kitchen had everything we needed for eating at home. My husband and I slept in the back bedroom (the kids turned their noses up). Although a bit small, we loved it. We went to bed with the sound of the river running and woke up with the same. We did not care for most of the restaurants in town, We did like the Silver Tip. Very nice burritos and nachos. We did a whitewater rafting trip through the Flying Pig (in town). Had a great time. We also did a trail ride and cookout through the Flying Pig. The steak was delicious. Probably the best meal we had all week. We did an evening wildlife tour through Yellowstone Park on the antique buses. Even the kids liked it. We got to see adult bears and cubs. Very exciting. I would definitely recommend this house to anyone. Our family will remember this vacation as the "best vacation ever".

We felt instantly comfortable here. The house is clean, comfy, has everything you need--including nice fluffy bath towels and very comfortable beds! I especially enjoyed coffee on the deck in the morning, while listening to the flow of the Yellowstone River. We stayed 6 nights, going into Yellowstone each day--great location for touring the park. The town of Gardiner has fun shopping and good restaurants. We especially enjoyed walking to the Antler Grill and Outlaw Pizza right across the street. Horseback riding and white-water rafting were very fun, and very conveniently located to the house. We are a family of 4 with kids 18 and 20 years old, but this would be appropriate for any age or lifestyle. Who wouldn't enjoy comfort, beautiful scenery, and lots of fun things to do? If we didn't live 1700 miles away, we'd be back often!

Beautiful views from this property down to the river and across to the mountains. An picnic table and grill allowed us to eat our dinner outside and watch the deer coming out into the fields below. On the fourth of July we enjoyed several fireworks shows put on by the neighbors, all from our own front yard. The house is well laid out with gorgeous stained glass throughout. We had plenty of room and plenty of hot water. Very comfortable kitchen. We spent most of our days hiking in the nearby wilderness or in Yellowstone, both of which were easy drives. A collection of recommended nearby hikes and various guide books come with the house too!

I cannot recommend this property highly enough: it exceeds all expectations and is far more beautiful than the photographs suggest. The views from the large deck over the Yellowstone River are truly amazing: elk, osprey, occasionally bison are visible on the hillside opposite. Although you have every convenience on your doorstep - shops, restaurants etc - it feels like you are in the middle of nowhere. The only sound is the river rushing below. The house itself is immaculately clean and very well laid-out with every mod con. The owner is extremely accommodating and easy to deal with. I stayed here with my three young children - who loved the garden around the property - and my parents. I am writing this on our last day here and wish we weren't leaving.
