We booked the two side-by-side houses in July 2011 to fit (quite easily) 19 family members from 5 states, including 5 married couples, some young adults, 3 kids from 6-12 years old, and 2 teen-agers. Our 82 year old mom and 89 year old dad appreciated one of the main floor master beds/baths, and the younger kids enjoyed sharing the upper family room with day beds. Splendid accommodations -- comfy, beachy, clean, well-equipped -- with plenty of room to spread out and find a place to make some noise or play a game without disturbing those wanting to read or have a quiet chat. Made good use of the beach (and the beach chairs!), right across the sleepy street and down a sandy dune path, and the inviting backyard(s), too. There always seemed to be a cluster of us in the bigger house's kitchen, hanging around the island just enjoying each other's company. Brava and thanks, Owner Trish!

Beautiful Beach House

I booked this house for 8 adults and 4 children under the age of 3. It was perfect! Not only was there enough room for everyone to relax and do their own thing, but it was beautifully decorated and well stocked. The pictures really do not do this house justice. Also, Trish is WONDERFUL to work with and very accommodating. You will not be disappointed if you book this house!

We had 9 adults and a 15 month old stay for a mini college reunion. Trish was a fantastic person to work with - replied back quickly to questions and was easy to get ahold of even when we had a question at the house. I have stayed at multiple places through vrbo and this was by far the nicest one. Everything you need is at this house - a complete kitchen with everything you need to cook breakfast, lunch, or dinner, plenty of outdoor seating, and even hairdryers in all of the bathrooms! The path to the beach is across the street, and it is not crowded since it's far enough away from public parking. We ate at the local brewery, went to the farmers market on Saturday morning, hit the outlet malls, and spent time biking by the dunes. Plenty of room for everyone to sleep comfortably (plus some!) and the bathrooms were amazing! I highly recommend this house to anyone needing room for large groups.

Myself and 9 other women booked this house for a weekend away from the busy lifes we lead. We were amazed at how well stocked this house was with everything you could imagine you needed, games, books, dvd player, beautiful patio, fully stocked kitchen, 3 different family rooms/sitting areas, 4 1/2 baths, cozy beds, so wonderful, we didn't want to leave!! The spa bathrooms were wonderful, many of the women were thrilled to take a shower without a toddler or child pounding on the door and were so excited to use the spa like bathrooms, we had to take numbers for our turn to use them!!! The owners of the home really have done a great job creating a home that can be shared by a large group of people, whether family or friends, there was no lack of space. The backyard and arbor was a great place to sit and drink your coffee or wine and relax. The house was easy to find, close to the lake, minutes from the Outlet Mall and Blue Chip Casino as well as a beautiful family zoo. We also found time to make our way to some of the local wineries and enjoy the local wines and lovely family owned restaurants. The kitchen can seat everyone comfortably which allowed us to enjoy a wonderful Sunday brunch together. I cannot say enough about what a great rental this was and would recommend it to anyone looking for an enjoyable, relaxing, weekend with friends or family. We loved it so much, we are already trying to book our girls weekend for next year! Thank you for providing us with such a wonderful weekend!

Perfect getaway

This is the only place I stay when I need a quick Michigan City escape from Chicago living. The house is beautiful with three finished floors, it's easy to have everyone in one room, or send the kids (or the dads) to another floor while the girls enjoy a little R&R on the main level. The house is literally steps away from the breathtakingly beautiful beach, which is great for sunning in winter, or cool walks in winter. Love it, love it, love it!!!!

Fabulous Beach Getaway

We've been staying at this property for years and have always had a great vacation! What a perfect getaway for a girls' weekend or for a family reunion. The beach is right across the street and shopping is down the road. The property is cozy yet spacious, and the kitchen and basement have just been redone. The backyard is perfect for evening fireside chats and al fresco dining. I can't wait to go back this year!

We conveyed from San Francisco, Salt Lake City & Omaha to try and cheer on our Utes against Mighty Notre Dame. That didn't work out so well. In spite of the rough game, we had a great weekend and loved McKitrick's Beach House! Thank you! We hope to come again!

This beach house is awesome. I have stayed here a few times. Even with a very large family gathering there is plenty of room! Young and old can find something fun to do nearby. Chilling on the beach and taking it easy, outlet mall for the shoppers and the casino for a change of pace and a night out. Mt. Baldy is the closest dune that offers both exercise and a breathtaking view! I love that it is so close to Indianapolis, and every time I am there I can't believe that I am still in Indiana. LOVE IT!

We planned our summer vacation with our extended family and were able to all stay together in this house. It is in the perfect location, steps to the beach, and close to shopping and great places to eat. The house is spacious, clean and very homey, with lots of room for all. The patio is an inviting place to have a family dinner or just hang out and read the paper. We are planning to stay there again this summer, and are looking forward to football on the beach at sunset with all the kids!

We've stayed here twice. Love the area and the walk across the street, down the sand dunes and to Lake Michigan. Lovely backyard. We've shared with another family and hope to come back as schedules allow. Big kitchen, which is great for larger group.
