Casa de Mira, is a new house, which incorporates the best of traditional Mexican architecture.
Its main entryway is through a huge antique doorway and portico with bovida ceiling and beautiful plantings. It is located on a quiet tree-lined street with no through traffic.
It is located in convenient Colonia San Antonio, just a 10 to 15 minute walk to the Jardin, which is at the heart of the historic Centro district.
It is a similar distance to the Instituto Allende, Belles Artes, Theatro Angela Peralta, the Biblioteca Publica (the English public library), the craft market and other places of interest.
There are excellent restaurants and markets within an easy five-minute walk from the casa.
The house is three story, with kitchen, dining room, living room, patio with fountain, half bath and garage on the first floor, two bedrooms and a study on the second floor, master bedroom, reading room and terrace on the third floor.
A large terrace with shaded wet bar with small refrigerator, garden furniture, charcoal grill, and beautiful plantings on the roof. All bedrooms have their own bathroom.
Both of the terraces, each with their own tables with umbrellas and chairs, have magnificent views over the city. The roof-garden terrace also has a chaise lounge and comfortable chairs for reading and relaxing.
The elevator is very convenient for bringing food and dishes from the kitchen to the terraces on a tea caddy bought for this purpose. It is a wonderful experience to be on either of the terraces as the sun is going down and watch the lights come on in San Miguel including the beautifully illuminated Parroquia and the Church of the Immaculate Conception.
The casa is fully equipped with two television sets, radio with CD Player, DVD, a computer (with internet access) and printer, washing machine and dryer. The kitchen has a brand new microwave, toaster, toaster oven, blender, juicer, pressure cooker, food processor and everything else needed for making delicious meals.
The house is fully furnished with premium quality furniture and furnishings, and is decorated with paintings and other artwork by well-known artists, many of them local artists. The walls have been painted in typical traditional Mexican colors and the rugs have been made to order to match the colors of the house, its paintings and its furniture.
The rental includes maid service twice per week and all utilities.

Why the Owner Chose Colonia San Antonio
Daren and I twice rented a house around the corner from our casa, and we loved it and San Miguel so much that we decided to buy a house of our own in the area. The weather is always so beautiful in San Miguel. This part of Colonia San Antonio is great, and we feel very safe. There is good food shoping and many fine restaurants right in the neighborhood. San Juan de Dios Market is less than a five minute walk from the casa. We have met a lot of Americas and Canadians in the area, and we also enjoy our many fine Mexican friends and neighbors.
The Unique Benefits at this House
Our house is decorated with beautiful Mexican colors and paintings by local artists. There is a fountain in the ground floor patio and a garden top floor terrace with wet bar where we enjoy evening drinks and most of our meals al fresco. The views from both the third floor terrace and the top floor terrace are magnificent. We bring our meals from the kitchen to the top terrace in our elevator. Our street, Calle Alameda, has no through traffic and is very quiet. It is an easy 10 to 15 minute walk from our casa to the Jardin, a garden plaza which is the center of communal life in San Miguel. Bands play there every night and people come to dance, stroll, sit on the benches and chat, or just observe the many people who gather to spend a pleasant evening.

I was born in Oslo, Norway and came to New York to see what America was all about. I intended to return to Norway, but my cousin from Norway, who was an attorney in New York City, introduced me to Daren, another attorney in the same law firm, and a year later we got married. We have two daughters, one now living with her family next door to us and one living with her family five minutes from us. We have a total of four grandchildren. We have lived in Cold Spring Harbor, New York, for over 35 years. Until I had a family, I worked for Pan American. Daren, an attorney specializing in land use, is still working as a partner in a two lawyer law firm in Glen Cove, New York

Our Favorite San Miguel Rental Yet!

We recently rented Casa de Mira for the month of October. This was our best San Miguel rental yet! The casa was even better than the pictures, especially the views. The owners have considered everything to make their guests comfortable. Daren and Mira were very helpful in answering any questions and their suggestions for neighborhood restaurants were right on! The beds and linens were luxury hotel quality and the kitchen was fully stocked with all appliances and cookware. We felt perfectly safe in this mixed neighborhood and made several friends who were renting just around the corner on Vergel. Unlike previous rentals, all the furniture was super comfortable. We definitely considered this "home" for our four week stay. I will definitely consider Casa de Mira for a future rental.

We were fortunate to have been asked for a two week visit by good friends who had rented Casa de Mira for the month of February 2011. We loved Casa de Mira and found it to be beautifully designed, tastefully decorated and exceptionally well maintained. Moreover, the house is equipped with all sorts of gadgets and extras that the owners have provided in anticipation of their guests' every need. The location is just perfect: a pleasant walk to the Centro Historico and there are some wonderful local restaurants just a short walk away -- and these restaurants are identified in the comprehensive loose leaf binder that the owners have very thoughtfully prepared and left at the house for use by their guests. We must also mention that the view from the upper deck is simply breathtaking -- day or night! We would be happy to rent this house in the future and we can't wait to return!

After staying in several different houses and neighborhoods in San Miguel we must say that Casa de Mira is our very favorite. The house is beautifully decorated and the owners have thought of every detail to assure your luxurious comfort. The neighborhood is full of charm and an easy walk to the Jardin. We have stayed at Casa de Mira twice and are looking forward to our return!

I just read the comment in the guestbook and have to totally agree with everything that was said. What a fun and beautiful place to stay. We had such a nice time at Casa Mira that I'm sure we will return. Darren and Mira could not be nicer to deal with. They were always helpful with any questions we might have. We loved the comfortable beds and duvet covers. We were there for a cold and rainy February, but we couldn't have been more comfortable in their charming Casa. The rooftop view is amazing.

We are a family of four adults who love to travel and almost always rent condos, houses, cottages, or villas at our destinations. Of all the places we have stayed, Casa de Mira is right at the top in terms of comfort, location, amenities, and value. The description and the pictures are completely accurate – everything is as beautiful, clean and comfortable as it looks. The upper level patio is a great place to relax with a lovely view of the town. The street has no traffic, the walk to town is not difficult and we felt completely safe walking, even at night. The kitchen has everything you need in terms of equipment and even includes lots of basics such as salt, pepper, oil, spices and even coffee. Although it was cold at night during our stay in December, there were ample heaters in the house to keep us warm. The computer was great and Wi-Fi also allowed us to use our laptop all over the house. Finally, the owners are very responsive to requests and helpful in every way. I highly recommend this lovely vacation home.
