Wonderful renovated condo on Sapphire Beach

I was a little nervous renting this unit as it didn't have any user ratings. I am thrilled to say that it is terrific! The unit looks exactly like the photos. The unit was renovated 3 years ago and is very nicely done. Most of the units at this Condo Resort have the same layout - living space flows into bedroom separated by movable dividers. The coral sofa is a sofabed, but the space would get pretty cramped if you had more than 3-4 people. Compared to other units at Sapphire Beach Resort available through VRBO (and I looked at nearly all of them) this is really one of the nicer ones. There are 2 huge flat screen TVs, a full kitchen (microwave that doubles as convection oven, stove top, and large fridge), and the bathroom has granite counters and stone walls. I really like that the unit is on the first floor - we eat dinner each night be candle light right on the back patio, and can walk right onto the beach during the day - no need to use stairs. The air conditioning could be a bit cooler, but adequate. The manager of the property is a bit laid back - I had to be a bit persistent to get him to respond to calls or emails when I wanted to reserve the unit. I have since learned that being "laid back" is pretty much how everyone is on St. Thomas. There is mid-week maid service where linens are changed and the condo is cleaned - but I had to remind them to do it. They provide soap and many very nice bath towels and beach towels. Bring your own shampoo since they provided only 1 tiny hotel sized bottle. The manager provided us with 2 snorkel sets for the week which we used daily. You have to request a Wifi package if you want it (an extra $30). The beach right outside is lovely - we went snorkeling and saw fish, squid, stingray, shark and sea turtles (really!). Many of the passengers on cruise ships come here given it's reputation. The water is crystal clear and warm. There is a beautiful pool 50 feet to the right of the unit. The complex itself is a bit run down as a whole - but didn't bother me since we were either in the unit, on the beach, or out touring. Sapphire beach is conveniently 5 minutes from the barge to get to St. John.
Recommended for:Sightseeing, families with young children.
