Nevada City and Grass Valley, two historic gold mining towns, are only 4 miles apart offering a multitude of activities, shopping, art galleries, museums, great restaurants, world-class entertainment and live theatre. In winter, less than one hour’s drive will have you on the slopes for a day of snow play, down-hill and cross-country skiing, snow boarding, snow shoeing, tubing, and sledding. In summer, access to the stunning Yuba River is a short 10 minute drive where you can bring a picnic, enjoy the well maintained trails and find that perfect swimming hole or waterfall to spend the afternoon. If you are feeling adventurous, ask us about some little known Yuba River spots that are truly magnificent!
A 30 minute drive will have you frolicking on one of many lakes in the area. Choose from Scott’s Flat Lake, Rollins Lake or Lake Englebright for a day of fishing, picnicking, swimming, kayaking or boating. (Private boat tours available – please inquire). Lake Tahoe is one hour by car – ask us about the “scenic back road” drive for spectacular views and scenery. Or head west up beautiful Highway 49 into the high country of the Sierra’s through a string of historic mining towns, each with their own charm and surprises!
We are here to make your stay a memorable one. Need a recommendation for a great restaurant, the best fishing, biking or hiking spots, or the latest town news? Just ask us!
