  We are new to VRBO. We rented this place for a week in March with two kids under the age of six. It was better than what I had anticipated. My husband was skeptical at first (being new to VRBO) then he walked through the house and said, "You did good!!" This place is WELL maintained. The windows looked new, tons of closet space and SUPER clean. There was a highchair and a stroller which I don't believe was included in the amenities BUT they should be. Oh...parking in the garage is tight. Height may be an issue for a larger vehicle than a 4-runner. The outdoor space was pretty enclosed (fence and stonewall on the patio) so our kids could be "adventurous" without actually leaving the area. They also loved going in and out of the gate and running up and down the walkway between the houses. We just sat drinking beers on the patio under the umbrella on beautiful patio furniture while our girls played. The neighbors were both young adults and families. Not noisy at all, even over St. Patrick's Day weekend. The laundry facility was super clean and equipped with supplies. My kids loved eating at the kitchen counter nook area. The kitchen was fully furnished, no need to buy anything except food and drinks. We gave our extra beverages to the neighbors next door and hoped that the housekeeper would take the rest. I decided not to use the coffee machine that was provided and opted to walk three minutes south to MISSION BEACH COFFEE BREAK every morning. The owners were fantastic! They had bagels and pastries and a healthy acai oatmeal bowl but mostly coffee and tea. THE WAVE HOUSE offered up a delicious breakfast on the boardwalk and it was only a 7-minute walk up the boardwalk. It is also the "place to be" for an afternoon bar scene. THE MISSION is one of the BEST places to get breakfast in San Diego. It is a 7-minute drive North (kind of hard to find parking and there will be a wait) but WORTH IT! SARA's MEXICAN is 3-minute walk South - order the California Burrito. You won't be disappointed. I could go on...but I am running out of characters. This place is a DEAL. I honestly shouldn't rave too much about it because we will definitely be coming back and hope that the dates we want will always be available. However, for the location and the cost, I will plan my dates around availability. This review was placed by two former young adult San Diegans that now live in Omaha as parents with two small kids. Life's changed.

  We booked at the last minute and we were totally happy with the property! Everything was clean and well maintained. A few steps to the ocean and a very short walk to the bay, we enjoyed both! The kitchen was well equipped, large refrigerator, great stove, nicely decorated. We would definately recommend this property to our friends and family. We enjoyed the beach, the bay and Sea World during our stay. Everything was just as it was advertised!

  Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, tourists without a car, romantic getaway, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, sightseeing.

  We just loved our stay at the South Mission Vacation House. The home was comfortably decorated, clean, and we had everything needed to enjoy our visit. It was just lovely to sit on the patio and hear the ocean. The kitchen was well equipped and provided us with all the necessities we needed to prepare our meals. The location was just perfect, just off the beach. Being from Chicago, we spend almost six months indoors, so we took every chance to enjoy the beautiful weather in San Diego. We plan on returning as soon as possible.

  Recommended for: Age 55+, tourists without a car, romantic getaway, families with teenagers, girls getaway.

  I was the first to arrive and it was at night (I had informed the rental agent that I will be arriving at night), the front porch light was not on and I had a very difficult time opening the lock box to retrieve the keys because I couldn't see the lock box numbers. Opening the garage door was confusing, the owners should add that the key pad for this unit is the same key pad for the upstairs unit and located on that unit's garage door frame (but different codes). We had a good time despite the weather, it rained almost the entire time and we were cramped inside a lot, there was myself, my teenage daughter, a friend and her teenage daughter. We expected the unit to be larger considering it is a two bedroom, pictures can be delusional, a kitchen table would have been helpful. The location is great; very close to the beach and to restaurants and a convenience/party store, kitchen is newly remodeled with nice appliances and it has a great patio. I will consider renting again with only one other person next time and will recommend to others if only two people or two couples.

  Owner response: We store the keys in lockboxes so that renters arriving at any time of day can just head straight to the unit without having to pickup keys or meet us there to get the keys. In the future we can try to make sure the exterior light is on so the lockbox is illuminated. The garage door opens using a keypad so that we can provide safe garage parking to all tenants without the risk/maintenance of using remotes. We do note in our arrival details that the key pad is on the garage door frame on the west side. As for the weather even February in San Diego can be a crap shoot!

  Beautiful home, close to the beach and rstaurants, accessible owners and quiet at night. We would definitely consider staying here again in the future! And we wouldn't hesitate to recommend it to our friends.
