Superb Location, Great Accommodations and an excellent host !!

We stayed at Emanuele's place in Rome for 4 nights after spending 4 nights in Paris. We certainly had a taste for hot Roman days and night during our stay on 7/9/11 but the A/C in this apartment was very effective. Our two kids slept in the living room area which had a wall-unit divided area for the two beds and we had the separate bedroom located up the stairs with entrance door, a/c and it's own bathroom. Do bear in mind, there isn't an elevator and the unit is at the top most floor but the stairways are relatively wide. Also, the upstairs bedroom and bathroom has a slanted ceiling that is quite low that may be problematic for the taller folks. I'm 6 ft and I really have to remember to duck! The location is oustanding and I can't imagine it'll be any better. A walk across the river on the bridge northward is the Castle of Sant'Angelo. West-ward is the Vatican and about a 10 min walk. Piazza Navona is a brief 5 min walk South-East and where we spent quite a bit of time in. As you continue taking in the quaint Roman streets a bit further East, you will find the Pantheon and the Trevi Fountain. A 30 min walk or so in the same general direction is the Spanish Steps. The Colosseum is a bit far for a walk in the hot days we were there so we planned on a bus ride and that turned out to be a breeze in spite of the warnings of the pickpockets. Please bear in mind that some drivers may have a hard time finding the apartment. It is situated practically across the bridge from Castel Sant Angelo. However, Emanuele came to our rescue, located us and walked us to the right building and even secured our transportation back to ensure we had no more worries. Thanks Emanuele and we will be back before long! The kids loved your apartment and Rome and considered this our best vacation ever!

Charming apartment in excellent location

Guest: Rose (Italy)
Date of Stay: 01/05/11 Review Submitted: 01/18/11

We enjoyed our stay in this apartment. It is in a very central location, perfect for visiting Rome's key sites and also just two steps from 'antique' street. But it is also very quiet, in a little cobbled alleyway, in a charming area of little streets with good restaurants and shops. The apartment itself is clean and well-maintained (although a couple of fixtures could do with replacement). The kitchen was modern and had everything we needed. The bathrooms are less modern, but function fine. It should be noted that although it is advertised as a two-bedroom apartment, one bedroom is in fact just divided from the (smallish) living room-kitchen area by a bookcase, with no door. This was not a problem for us, but I think renters should be aware of this in advance. The owner, Emanuele, could not have been more helpful. I would certainly recommend this apartment to friends visiting Rome.

Emanuele was great! He returned calls quickly, answer questions and had maps of the city. He hailed us a private car for our ride back to the train station. He came to the apartment when we were having problems with the WIFI. My husband self employed so a WIFI is a must on all vacations. He was very attentive! His description of the apartments and pictures were accurate. There are many stairs to get to the apartment and it is a spiral staircase so large suitcases are very difficult. The kids loved the Apartment there was room to roam, play and have privacy which we needed for the different ages 13, 10, 6, and 4. The TV and DVD player helped to provide quiet time when making dinner. We had a slight problem with the electricity. We could not have two burners above the number 6 on with the electric heater/ac unit on and microwave. We would trip the circuit breaker. We cooked a lot. A teakettle is needed. It had a washing machine and we air dried the clothes. This was good because it provided moisture in the air at night. My husband is 6 feet so occasionally he would hit his head on the beams in the upstairs bedroom and bathroom. The upstairs bedroom had some mold by the one roof window which Keith and my daughter Kaitlinn seemed very affected by. It was the holiday and Emanuele was having the roof fixed and then the ceiling was to get repaired later. The bathrooms were clean, nice and roomy. Typical European showers small. There was room to store clothes. The apartment had all linens. Emanuele has another apartment across the hall from this apartment that could handle more than 6 people that everything is on the same floor(a little info for future). The location of the apartment is the BEST. There is a mini market on the corner, Gelato cafe, many pasta and pizza cafes along the streets below. All the cafes except one would only do take home pizza the one cafe near the Vatican would do pasta also. We were a 10 minute walk to the Vatican, 15 minute walk to Piazza Navona and Campo di Fiori (a fresh food market). We were 5 minute walk from our bus stops and bank. The supermarket was a 10 minute walk. we were surrounded by churches and we were a 5 minute walk to the Castel Saint Angelo. The apartment is just seconds from one of the oldest roads in Rome. It was a quiet neighborhood no road noise but we were there at Christmas time windows closed. We had one of our best vacation due to the location and comfortability of the apartment.

Perfect Location

For our first visit to Rome, we made an excellent decision with this location. As a family with three teenagers this apartment suited our needs perfectly. Separate sleeping quarters for the adults (with the upstairs apartment) two bathrooms and free Wi-Fi. The Vatican, Navona Square, The Trevi Fountain and Campo de' Fiori are all within easy walking distance. As we arrived at the bus station late at night, our kind host Emanuelle arranged for a driver to meet us. It was worth the 45 Euro fee to be driven directly to the apartment. We also used the same driver to transport us to the airport on our day of departure for a fee of 65 Euros. We found the car service to be efficient and proffessional. It should be noted that there is no lift in this 17th century building and 55 stairs to climb to reach the apartment. As it was really hot during our visit , the air conditioning was really appreciated. Emanuelle provided fast and efficient service from beginning to end and we would recommend this apartment.

We had a great time in the apartment. Everything was as described: short ways to whereever you wanted to go, nice furniture, the WLAN worked and Emanuele was most helpful in every way - I can warmly recommend this apartment.
