Be the first to stay in this newly renovated village house located only 6 minutes drive from the historical Josselin Chateau, 20 minutes from a chic shopping center in Centre Ville Vannes, and 25 minutes from multiple beaches.
To give a little history behind the place, it was built sometime in the 1800's by the owner's Great Grandparents. Originally, it was used both as a house and a farm, with entrances for the cows on one side, and living quarters on the other. The owner's grandfather inherited the property. He converted the farm side of the house, into two bedrooms and used the attic for storage. He lived there until his death in 2006 at 93 years of age. As a side note, when he died he was the oldest WWII veteran in the city, and one of the oldest surviving prisoners of war.
By January 2007, the third generation of owners completely demolished the interior of the house, and finally finished construction in May 2008. In doing so they created a modern living environment. The ground floor includes a large kitchen/dining room with a renovated fireplace, a bedroom, a full bathroom, and a small laundry room. The second floor has two bedrooms, a master bath, and a small family room. The house sits adjacent to the community park, and so they decided to put in large one-pane windows enabling the guests to lookout over the beautiful greenspace.
The final touch to the house was the renovation of the garden. It was designed by the owner's uncle, who got his inspiration from an old church yard. The thick granite wall and the incorporated bench create a perfect place to relax and take-in the sights and smells of the countryside. A large thin stone provides the entrance way into the garden. Large stones were put in church entryways to stop the cows from coming into the church yard. The planting of the cypress tree and the bamboo fence, which lights up at night, give the garden an almost chateau feel.
The inside of the house is decorated with a mix of modern and antique styled furniture. The intension of the design was to create a comfortable place to relax and get away from crowded cities.
