Owner's Profile

Owner Description

Year Purchased: 1984

We were high school sweet hearts in the late 1960's but were not married until 1997. My dad thought Andy was a bit too much on the wild side for his "little girl" We are both graduates of Holbrook High School.
I moved in this old cabin in 1984 but Andy didn't join me until 1997. We have 5 daugters, 1 son, a lot of grandchildren, 1 dog, 3 cats, & 1 big 'ol horse we call Chief. Andy uses him for the pony express ride from Holbrook to Scottsdale every January.
We were both raised in the country. I was mostly raised at a remote trading post on the Navajo reservation just north of Holbrook. Andy lived in Joseph City & thought Holbrook girls were city girls.

Why the Owner Chose Flagstaff

After years of renting the Bunk House out on a monthly basis we thought it would be a lot more fun to remodel it & rent as a vacation home. It's a perfect location, next to the forest but not a very far drive from Flagstaff or the Grand Canyon. Most of the decor is just family items we already had. One of my favorite items is Andy's dad's saddle. He was raised on a ranch near Young, Az.
We've met some wonderful people, it for sure was a better idea than renting it out.

The Unique Benefits of this Cabin

We enjoy the quiet & solitude of living out of the fast pace of the city. The cabins are over 100 years old, the Bunk House was built out of railroad ties that were milled in Flagstaff about the turn of the century. We were born & raised in northern Arizona so this little spot of heaven is ideal for us. We like to take our horses just across the forest service fence and ride. Just the sound of silence & smell of clean air is a gift.
