The ocean view from the living room and the terrace of this one bedroom condo is wonderful. The beach is 100 meters away, and from this third floor (penthouse) level you can see and hear the breakers as the waves roll in. One of the great things about this condo is that the living area and terrace face the ocean directly, rather than off to the side. Even better, the terrace faces northeast, which means during the hot afternoons, (a) the terrace is completely shaded, and (b) the daily easterly trade winds blow in from the ocean and cool the whole condo. We have never been too hot sitting on the terrace in the afternoons. Additionally, as the sun is shining from behind you, the colors you see looking out over the foliage to ocean are brilliant. The terrace is covered and spans the entire width of the living area. The bedroom has a king size bed and air conditioner, and there is also a large standing fan in there in case you prefer that to the AC. There is a small terrace off of the bedroom which has a view to the mountains and sunset. The roof is accessible for even better views in every direction. The living area is complete with dining set and beautiful bamboo furniture, as well as an open up sofa with plush linens for comfortable sleeping for two. The entire condo boasts nine-foot ceilings for a more spacious feel. There are four buildings of condos in this complex, and several individual villas. The pool is always open, but is rarely busy. The grounds are very well maintained, and there is 24-hour security and an emergency backup generator. The atmosphere is quiet and peaceful. Within walking distance are five restaurants, a convenience store, an internet cafe, an excursion tour operator, a kite surfing school, and shopping. A two-minute walk through the complex takes you to a non-crowded beach, which you could walk for miles in either direction. The condo is located about a four-minute drive from downtown Cabarete, which has several kite surfing centers and numerous restaurants that line the beach. At dinner time, they set up tables right on the sand under the palm trees. There is a lot of nightlife as well. Cabarete also has necessities like grocery stores and ATM's. A bit further is Sosua, which is much larger and is even more party-oriented. Puerto Plata international airport is a short 25-minute drive away. |
