Experience Old Town Albuquerque in this, charming, newly renovated 19th century territorial style house. There are three bedrooms with queen beds, two baths, a modern kitchen overlooking the 1/4 acre back yard, and a living room with cozy attached reading room with piano. The gorgeous, spacious 3rd bedroom/den has a pullout sofa, queen bed and an additional microwave, sink and refridgerator. This room can be closed off with the 2nd bath as a completely seperate studio apartment. The house is flooded with light and has diamond finish plaster walls, hardwood floors, colorful Talavera tile, fine woodwork, and punched tin details that create the ambiance of old New Mexico. The kitchen has new appliances and is fully equipped with everything you need to prepare a gourmet meal. The house is fully furnished with lovely furniture, comfortable beds, fine linens, a flat screen TV and entertainment center, and wireless Internet throughout. Enjoy a barbecue on the patio overlooking an oasis of grass, trees and colorful gardens in summer. There is off street parking and a private entrance through the securely gated backyard.
The house is centrally located in Albuquerque’s Old Town, the serene village that has been the focal point of community life since 1706. There are dozens of unique shops, restaurants, boutiques, galleries, artist’s studios, and San Felipe de Neri church, surrounding a central park and gazebo. The Native Americans gather beneath the portals everyday to sell their handmade jewelry and pottery. Adjacent to the plaza are the fabulous Albuquerque Art Museum and sculpture garden, the Albuquerque Natural History Museum, the Explora Children’s Museum, and Tiguex Park. All of this is just a short stroll down the street behind the house.
One mile to the west is the Albuquerque Aquarium and Biopark. The fabulous Rio Grande Zoological Park and gardens is connected to the Biopark via a short and fun shuttle train ride. The emerging downtown urban center is close-by with the convention center, the historic Kimo Theater, and the hub of Central Ave with a fabulous cinema complex, restaurants and clubs.
A short drive away is the Rio Grande nature center with hiking/biking trails along the river overlooking the spectacular Sandia Mountains. The Rio Grande River is a seasonal migration path for Canada geese, ducks, cranes and herons, so in fall, winter and spring the bird watching is world class. The near-by Sandia Mountains feature awe inspiring hiking and biking trails, winter sports, and an excellent restaurant at the top reachable by the world’s longest aerial tramway.
The house is one mile from the convention center, and only 3 miles from the University.
This lovely house will provide you with comfort, serenity and luxury as you return from a day of exploring, or simply spend a day relaxing at “home” in New Mexico.
