My husband and I stayed in this lovely cottage Labor Day week with my mother and our young daughter. We were so pleased on arrival - it is even more charming in person than in the photos. The house is well decorated, bathrooms are modern - it suited our needs perfectly and was convenient to town, beaches, and bike path. We hope to return!

We rented here unfortunately and the house was inhabitable. Fire alarms were going off all night long - my kids were scared and our days were shot as these loud alarms kept going off every 10 minutes and kept us awake all night long. Bugs and pests were everywhere in the house. No wonder, we found food dumped in the bushes in front of the house on our arrival. On top of that, the owners are very deceitful. They kept our security deposit - which was outrageous and made up stories about a stain on the couch. She also tried to overstate the agreed upon rent on the lease. We should have backed out right then and there! We knew some other folks that stayed here as there was a book on the table with guests and they had bigger problems.

Owner response:Our cottage is exactly as advertised on this website - cozy, quiet, private and adorable and is always kept in pristine condition for our renters just as we would expect if we were checking into it for a vacation. We have been renting this property for over 13 years now and have many guests that return to stay again each year. I am personally at every turnover to insure that everything is in perfect condition for the arriving guests. I also greet my guests at arrival to make sure they are happy with their accommodations and to answer any questions they may have. We are available at all times to assit our guests with anything they may need during their stay and attend to those needs immediately. Pat M wrote a fabricated and inaccurate review which is a total misrepresentation of our lovely property. However, on the day they vacated the property his wife wrote in our guest book "We had a great week in Nantucket. Love this location-we can bike ride everywhere. We saw some beautiful sunsets at Madaket. You have a charming house." His nasty review stems from anger over us keeping a portion of his security deposit to pay for stains on the couch that were not there when his family arrived but were there when they vacated and needed to be removed professionally. We had new tenants arriving later that day and would never allow a tenant to check in without the house being perfect. It is most unfortunate that some people feel the need post this sort of thing in retaliation to a situation. Our reputations both personally and professionaly and as landlords is well know on Nantucket and will far exceed his negative and unfounded claims on this website. We also find it most unfortunate that Homeaway would allow these types of reviews to be posted with no merit to the claims whatsover. We do, however, look forward to continuing to rent our property and provide our renters with the accommodations they have a right to expect as we have always done in the past.
