Welcome to your very own exclusive private tropical island only a few minutes from shore! Our 2 bedroom, 2 bath, private island home is located in the tropical turquoise waters of the Gulf of Mexico off of Marathon in the Florida Keys. This beautifully furnished property features a host of amenities suitable for every taste, complete with panoramic views of the Gulf of Mexico extending from every room of this conch style island home.
Exposed wooden beams adorn the living room's cathedral ceiling, complementing the home's wood and tile floors. French doors lead from the great room to a screened f...ront porch and to a covered deck. Our fully equipped kitchen is complete with a breakfast bar. You can also make use of the outdoor gas grill. The master suite features a sunken Jacuzzi tub with 2 sided ocean view shower - the perfect way to end a day in paradise! All utilities (electricity and fresh water) are piped underwater from the mainland, supplying all the comforts of home in this secluded tropical paradise. Rental includes a small power boat for transportation between shore and island.
Landscaped boardwalks surround the home for leisurely strolls around the island. This ancient fossilized exposed reef features native vegetation of silver buttonwood, black mangroves, sea grapes, and pitch apples which attract a vast variety of migrating and resident bird life. The crystal clear warm waters of this quintessential Keys location are occasioned by a variety of wild life including visiting dolphins, manatees, sting ray, parrot and angel fish, roosting pelicans and great herons to name a few.

We just wanted to send a note to say we had a wonderful time on Pretty Joe Rock. The house was really nice (better than the pictures) and the iguanas were amazing. Capt. Bob did a great job and I would like to thank him for coming out so quickly to take care of the hot water heater problem. I also want to thank him and the gentleman he sent out to help us when our car broke down. They went above and beyond their jobs trying to help us and we really appreciated it.

We had the opportunity to stay on the island in late October. We brought my son to celebrate his 3rd birthday and my 4 year old daughter. It was the best vacation ever! Kids loved the boat ride over, watching fish from the dock and even had lunch with an iguana! Apparantly it liked pb&j because he jumped out of the tree to come enjoy a few bites! My husband and I loved the snorkeling, crystal clear water, and fishing. We were also able to take the kids on many kayak rides. We were able to cook fresh fish in everynight. The house was wonderful, very clean and George, the caretaker was such a pleasure to work with. We cannot wait to go back! I asked the kids if they would rather go back to Disney World or the island and they both said the island!
Recommended for:Girls getaway, families with teenagers, adventure seekers, romantic getaway, age 55+, sightseeing, families with young children.

Staying on a private island is an incredible experience. I never thought I could afford a private home on a private island until I found rentmyisland online. Coming from Wisconsin, we were able to get out of the cold and see amazing things that I never thought I would see. We saw dolphins swimming by, sting rays right at the dock, an octopus stroll by in 2 feet of water, a giant crab in a conch shell and tons of fish and birds. The home was beautiful and romantic. We did a lot less sightseeing in the keys then we planned on. We spent most our time on or around the island. The sunsets are entrancing. I never thought we would sit around watching a sunset. I was wrong. Several times we sat on the deck with a glass of wine, watching the sunset and talking or just listening to nature. We like to experience different vacation locations every year, but now my wife and I found a place we have to go back to. We will probably make this an annual trip. We already booked for next year. We highly recommend booking well ahead of time though. At this reasonable a price, there aren’t a lot of openings. P.S. We highly recommend Key Colony Inn and Key's Fisheries for lunch.

This is an adorable little conch style home on it's own private island. . . . . period. The house is not well maintained or cleaned. Roaches and Palmetto bugs run amuck inside the house and in the beds. The docking situation is unsafe, and the land side dock can only be accessed in high tides. There is NO boat ramp as stated in the ad. Getting into and out of the boat is extremely hazardous. The owners are not proactive, and handle complaints poorly.
Owner response:There are always two perspectives, here is ours! These guests called the week prior to their arrival to inform us they really did not want to stay on an island for their vacation, especially with an unusually cold, windy and rainy weather prediction for the week. They requested to cancel their reservation. We were willing to do so, but also suggested they check with family members to see if someone else could "use" their week. I could not guarantee a refund give the 2 day notice they gave me to re-rent the home. We made every effort to accommodate a change in homes for them and alleviate their fears of being off shore, we even found a guest in one of our on shore homes that would pack up and trade homes for the week. After many phone calls, “Beach-bunny from NJ” refused this offer and in lieu of the possibility of losing her payment, reluctantly made the trip. We pride ourselves on offering a clean and safe rental at our homes in the Keys. The homes are thoroughly cleaned prior to guest arrival and our property manager is available for assistance during your stay. We respond immediately to make the guests’ stay as comfortable as possible. In this particular case, we even replaced the refrigerator (that failed unexpectedly) with a brand new unit - same day - on the island - in a storm!!! In regards to their comments about insects, while I cannot say the island is a bug free zone (it is the tropics after all) I can say we make every effort to control the native species and keep them out of the home and outdoors where they belong! We include a boat for transportation to and from the island that can be accessed and operated in high or low tide without a problem. Many positive reviews from our past guests are posted on our website, for example: "Thank you so much for allowing us to rent out your property. We have officially made that our BEST vacation yet. I hope you will always continue to rent out Pretty Joe Rock because we can't imagine NOT being able to go back!!." H & C 2/10 and "It truly was a unique and wonderful vacation. We had a wonderful time on the island over Christmas. Your staff was very helpful and accommodating. It was one of the more relaxing vacations we have had in years, and we even had a few Christmas carolers who came by on kayaks!
