This is an adorable, fully furnished, fully decorated, one-room vacation cottage in historic Tombstone, Arizona, 4 short blocks for a leisurely stroll to the historic Bird Cage Theater, 5 blocks from the Crystal Palace Saloon and Big Nose Kate’s, and 7 blocks from the O.K. Corral. Tombstone is centrally located in Cochise County with easy access to Bisbee, Benson, Sierra Vista, Fort Huachuca, and numerous scenic attractions, including Kartchner Caverns, the Chiricahua National Monument, the San Pedro River National Conservation Area, Coronado National Memorial and Coronado National Forest, and more.
Upon entering the cottage, you first encounter a screened-in porch and sitting area. The area is abundantly decorated with desert southwestern and other mixed but complementary motifs. There are two comfy outdoor chairs with an outdoor ottoman for kicking back and relaxing. There’s an oversized wood side-table to hold drinks and snacks. There are patio candles, numerous tea light lanterns for evening ambiance, artwork, silk plants, and old-fashioned real “door bell” (along with a more modern electronic doorbell outside the screened area that rings in an adorable two tone chime).
Within the screened area are two doors. The one on the left leads to your private, exclusive use brightly and beautifully decorated laundry room with GE Spacesaver washer and dryer (dryer is 120v so it takes a little longer but does a fantastic job), Sunbeam Steam Master drip-free iron and ironing board and stocked with the basic necessities (top brand laundry detergent, color-safe bleach, Bounce sheets, starch, a Dryel kit for your dry cleaning needs, etc). The laundry room is charmingly decorated in Americana with some mixed motif. It has a soft fluorescent overhead light that alluringly accentuates the room’s artwork.
The other door leads to the inside cottage area. In the warmer months, it’s a pleasure to leave the door open from the cottage into the screened-in front area, as it expands the living area and makes the cottage lighter, airier, and more vacation-like Inside is beautifully, eclectically, and stunningly decorated with a mixture of desert southwest, Americana, and European mixed motifs. The living room area has a Pier 1 Imports red sofa with Americana wood coffee table, coffee table books, with a GE DECT 6.0 cordless phone with free local calls mounted on the wall in arm’s reach of the sofa (phone has digital answering machine and speakerphone). The sofa has an abundance of pillows from Pier 1 Imports, and some others from upscale department stores. Very copious wall art, silk plants, etc.
There’s wireless internet access, a 26-inch RCA flat screen LCD TV with Dish Network (40 channels plus locals free), DVD/VCR combo (with a handful of classics, including episodes of Welcome Back Kotter, Chico and the Man, The Lucy Show, along with some movies such as Tombstone, of course, Billy Jack, and some John Wayne Classics). The entertainment center also includes modern-day versions of video games (played through the TV) from the 1980s, including Pac Man, Ms. Pac Man, Centipede, Millipede, Asteroids, Galaxian, Rally-X, Galaga, Missile Command, and numerous others from Atari and more). There’s some reading material in there too, if you’d like, including Hemingway, Kerouac, Steinbeck, and more. The room is decorated with several Art in Giclee stretched canvass pieces made from original oil paintings by Fabrice de Villeneuve, Antoinette St-Leger, and Dominguez. Giclee art pieces are digital prints on canvas, each individually embellished with oil painting by professional artists in a studio. (The Art in Giclee is the most accurate form of original art reproduction today.) Oh, and let’s not forget the Jelly Belly gumball machine, stocked fresh with Jelly Belly jelly beans up your arrival.
There’s a set of dresser drawers and a wardrobe cabinet, upon which sits a modern-day Emerson combo cabinet stereo with turntable (so bring your vinyl), CD player, cassette tape player, and AM/FM stereo that gets numerous Tucson and Southern Arizona stations. The sleeping area has a new (purchased in 2008) Serta queen size pillow top bed, always with at least 400 thread count designer sheets, four designer pillows (Tommy Hilfiger), comfy comforter or bed cover. Bed has attractive, antique white iron headboard.
The kitchen area is fantastically equipped with top brand cookware (Calphalon and others); top brand kitchen utensils (all the basics from Kitchen Aid, etc.); Oneida stainless flatware service set for four; a 12-piece cutlery set from Hampton Forge; very nice Gibson stoneware set; very nice coffee mugs; Mr. Coffee DR Series coffee maker with stainless steel carafe; La Cafetière coffee press (for those who prefer their coffee that way); Mr. Coffee coffee grinder with Chamber Maid cleaning system and 3-level grind selector; full-size refrigerator and electric range; microwave oven; bag clips; and a meat thermometer, bottle opener, cork screw, ice cream scoop, etc. – all top brands for the finest kitchenware. Kitchen sink has top quality Moen faucet installed in 2008. The dining area has a wood table and super comfy urethane padded dining chairs and surprisingly comfy Thomasville wooden stools and is set up for romantic candlelight dinners or long morning table conversation.
Bathroom has elegant antique brass fixtures, designer spa towels (Ralph Lauren, etc.), Vidal Sassoon 1875 hair dryer, Wittmann Textiles super soft, waffle spa robes; and top quality soaps and lotions. Bathroom has standup shower (sorry, no tub). My hope is that once you stay here, it will be your place to stay every time you come to Tombstone. I’ve gone to great lengths to make your stay as cozy and comfy as possible, in a homelike yet vacation-like atmosphere.
