    • We stayed in the apartment mid-May 2009 and were very happy with it. It is in what the guidebooks call a "gritty" neighborhood of Rome, but that just means living with the locals, rather than in a tourist area. It's part of the fun. The apartment was great - spacious, clean, had everything we needed, including Internet. It is a short walk to the Pyramide metro stop, which is just 2 stops from the Coliseum. We took a shuttle from the airport to the apartment, relatively cheap and easy. and caught a taxi at the Pyramide metro to go to the train station at morning rush hour (metro would have been a pain with luggage.) The owner was gracious and easy to deal with. The apartment offers far more value than a hotel room, especially for several people. I recommend it.

      Homeowner Response:
      Testaccio is what the Romans call popolare(where the working class live). It is also home of the Roma soccer team and gets pretty exciting when there is a match. The market is the best local Roman market!

    • We stayed here in autumn '08 and were delighted. It's a great area, close to everything but not too touristy, with great restaurants nearby and the 'english' cemetery too. The flat is really comfortable, dead handy for the market and has easy access from Ciampino. We want to live there!!

    • in one word: FANTASTIC! in many, many more words ... The pictures on VBRO are 100% what you get, actually, IMHO, the apartment in person is much homier than what the pix relate. The Pyramid Metro (10 minute walk) and the Ostiense train station (15 minute cab ride) can get you anywhere you’d want to go. Ostiense goes directly (north) to/from FCO airport (no need to use Termini) and south to Lido Beach. The heat & hot water are never an issue. Nice and toasty warm. I only mention that b/c I've read other reviews of Rome apts where the hot water would run out or the heat didn't work, or the renters had to pay for heat/hot water. None of that nonsense here. The “master” bedroom is remarkable. The king size bed is outstanding. And the doors that open to the balcony are above and beyond what I could have dreamed. Imagine waking up with a view of Testacio, then opening the tall glass doors and stepping out onto the balcony… looking up the street at the bustling market place … oh it’s so, so, so nice. The second bedroom is useful if you bring along a child or an extra guest. We didn’t use it too much, except to step out onto that balcony and take in that view also. The kitchen, albeit small is definitely workable. It's sort of cozy. And I LOVE the window and sill. The window opens to fresh air and the sill makes for extra counter space. Loads of kitchen utensils and gadgets. The bathroom is stocked with everything you could possibly need, including toothbrushes and toothpaste (where do you get that kind of service). Loads of towels, shampoos, soaps, even tampons (I kid you not!). I mention this all to give you an idea of how well thought out the rental process of this apt was. You seriously could walk in with the clothes on your back and begin your vacation. There's even a washing machine (in the bathroom, and of course laundry detergent is provided). The large flat screen TV in cozy comfy living room is impressive. The high speed wireless internet access works perfectly. The furniture, OMG, the furniture (which I believe is from Thailand) is fabulous. Most times one gets cheap run of the mill furniture in a rental, not here. The view from the roof is beautiful (we caught a lovely sunset one evening.) I couldn't recommend anything more strongly than I could VBRO # 187343 Rome apt for an absolutely perfect roman vacation. {Please feel free to email}

      Homeowner Response:
      Thankyou Roni for such a positive review! I walk to Ostiense station in 20 minutes and the cab from my house takes 5 minutes. The furniture is from Thailand and Mexico and the rugs from Turkey. Thanks so much!
