Paradise Valley cabin description

Dexter Peak cabin is perfectly situated on 25 acres at the base of the Absaroka-Beartooth Mountains. This cabin is one of three dwellings on adjacent properties which can be rented together or separately. See Shining Mountain Lodge and Elk Ridge cabin. Just 35 miles north of Yellowstone Park, both cabins offer breathtaking views of four mountain ranges. Varying lights of the Montana skies and glimpses of nature and wildlife soothe the soul year round. Perfect for creative reflection, a romantic getaway, that special fishing trip or as a home base while enjoying the wealth of activities, breathtaking scenery and abundant wildlife the area provides.

The Dexter Peak Cabin sleeps two, has a loft bedroom which can be set up with a king-size bed or two over-sized twin beds. The cabin has a full kitchen, stocked with the basic essentials, a gas BBQ, television, VCR/DVD with a selection of classic movies, a washer/dryer, and an outdoor firepit.

The cabin sits on the edge of a meadow with its own private yard and covered porch. There is a picnic table and Adirondack chairs to enjoy the peace and quiet and views of the 11,000 foot tall mountains before you.

The door opens to a complete kitchen with hickory cabinets, a full bathroom and laundry area and a cozy living room with television, with built-in VCR/DVD, CD player, table and leather couch. A nice selection of videos and books adorn the bookshelf for your enjoyment after the adventures of the day. A rustic staircase rises to the loft with a king-sized bed (can be split into two oversized twins). Foam sleeping pads are available for small children.

The kitchen is well appointed with a refrigerator, four-burner stove, microwave, cookbooks, pots and pans, dishes, glassware, knives, toaster, blender, and coffeepot and grinder. Laundry soap, iron, ironing board and dryer sheets are provided for your convenience.

If you have a larger group, be sure to see our separate listing for the Elk's Rest Cabin.

Thanks to Vicki and Gary. They helped my husband surprise me with flowers and wine. We had a wonderful night and are always grateful. Thanks again for opening your home to us.

Thanks so much for your lovely cabin and the peace and quiet here in Paradise Valley. I will miss the local deer appearing in the evening and the brightest night sky I have ever experienced. Most of all, perhaps, I will miss quiet afternoons spent admiring the Beartooth Mountains. I hope to visit again soon, perhaps this time in the winter to do some snowshoeing.

Thank you so much for opening your home and cabin to us for the week. It was more than we could have even expected and fit us perfectly. The memories that we made while here will last a lifetime. Being so close to the other sites made spending time with our friends and family so easy. Thanks again for everything.

It was a last minute deal and a whim that brought us here from Colorado. What a fantastic way to spend a getaway weekend. It is gorgeous beyond description. Thank you for the Passage Creek falls recommendation, it was spectacular. We spent all of yesterday in Yellowstone, a bright blue sky day-the only, only comment even remotely negative would come from Brian, not me, about the lack of long-clawed, ferocious grizzly bears or any bear for that matter...we saw considerable numbers of amazing buffalo, elk and even a wolf-my favorite! Thank you. Thank you.

Thank you for your hospitality-this was a great getaway cabin! Will recommend it to friends! It was exactly what we were looking for in a beautiful place! Thank you. P.S. Thank you for your extra generosity, it was such a blessing to us to be able to stay another night! It was a great encouragement to us and our marriage! "In this is love, not that we have loved God but that He loved us and sent his son to be the payment for our sins." (1 John 4:10) Just wanted to share the hope with you, that we have. Thanks again.

Thank you so much for sharing your piece of heaven with us. Your cabin was the perfect getaway we needed. This has been an amazing and breathtaking journey for us and we are so thankful. We can both cross of catching a Yellowstone trout off our 'to do' lists. We definitely hope to find our way back to Montana some day. Gary, we can't wait to to share your beautiful piece of art with our friends and family. Thank you both for sharing your wonderful mountainside home with us.

                  Owner info

                  Year Purchased: 2004

About the owner: Moved to Paradise Valley almost twenty years ago for the closeness to nature, and small town friendliness. Needed to escape the rat race. Met my husband, Gary, at age 39, and married. Discovered a new talent in myself with art. We purchased an old log bar/apartment and added an art gallery. Gary is a painter and framer and we are lucky to feature so many friends fine art and crafts. We feel like we are on vacation every day looking at the constantly changing light on the mountains and wildlife in our area.

Why the Owner Chose Paradise Valley:
Location is ideal, quiet but close to Livingston, fishing streams and river, intimate view of mountains, close to Yellowstone Park.

The Unique Benefits at this Cabin:
Views of wildlife, mule deer, red foxes, elk, eagles, red-tail hawks and many other birds.
