Why the Owner Chose Crescent City
I have dreamed about owning a piece of property on the river. I love the magical sounds that are created by the river. It is nature's music and is pleasing to the eye as well! My family members have always told me that I should have a bed and breakfast or something to that effect. I have always enjoyed leaving special suprise gifts for family and guests when they stay at our house. When we bought this home it was a way to incorporate that family type hospitality with the vacation rental.
The Unique Benefits at this Riverfront House
Our home is secluded yet close to main travel. You will find a calm and relaxing enviroment that will automatically soothe your spirit and let you unwind from this busy pace that we call life. The river is right out the front door! Take a hike, build a fire in the front lawn fire pit. Barbeque on the porch, sit on the deck sipping your coffee in the morning listening to the beautiful sounds of birds. Drive in to town to go shopping, out to eat, see a movie, visit the art gallery, or dig sandcastles at the beach.
This is a mountain road, that is hikeable and is miles long. It is next to the home.
This is a hiking or driving experience you will not want to miss. Massive Giant Redwoods and walking trails follow the Smith River.
Owner's Map of Crescent City
My Husband and I are cranberry growers. If you drink or eat cranberries we thank you from the bottom of our hearts! We value and appreciate the country and clean fresh air. We know beauty when we see it! We do not take for granted that we are fortunate to live in an oceanside community with the river and the mountains literally in our backyard. The drive to town is a scenic beauty as is looking out our home's windows!

Dear Michael, Chelle, MacKenzie and Brinkley, Thank you for your warm and gracious welcome. I felt the Lord's peace when we entered your home. There was music, notes, on each bed, candy in the bathroom, beautiful linens. Your home is everything we were looking for in a vacation rental. When we met your family, I didn't want to say goodbye. I had searched hundreds of vacation rentals all over CA and Oregon. I was staying up late searching the website without finding a place. Finally, I was getting frustrated and asked Jesus to help me find a place where Brand I and the kids could rest and have fun together. I was up until 3:00am one night when I found your place. I tried to wake Brad to show him your home, but he was too sleepy. I said, "I found it!" He just grunted and stayed asleep. So, when we arrived your house it felt like a gift to my family from God. The sign in the bedroom " resting at last" was welcoming because we have been so tired from working too much this past year. Our kids laughed a lot together. Michelle caught a toad, crickets, and a baby snake. Quail would pass by the grass area each day. We went fishing, but only caught trout. We did fry it up and it was tasty. We went to Myrtle Beach and jumped off the rocks. We went to Stout Grove. The Blueberry's before Crescent City were delicious on Hwy 199. Thank you for your hospitality. Brad, Cathy, Shelle and Dale.

What a lovely Week we had! We visited Crescent City (once) Jedediah State Park ( For the Redwood Experience). Myrtle Beach (we're more familiar with the one in South Carolina!) etc. Our favorite was probably Madrona, which seemed a little more interesting for hiking and also seemed a bit quieter. (Myrtle Beach was a lot of fun for the kids because it was more boating friendly) The botanical walk was informative. The weather was cool but nice. The first couple of evening were crystal clear and we could see the Milky Way! It was as if we could reach up and TOUCH the Big Dipper! We had great fun cooking out together. Loved the campfires and couldn't eat another Smore if we tried. Thank you for allowing us to share this beautiful part of California with you! P.S. The Moose Puzzle CAN be done! Don't give up! Your Oregon Friends, The Rileys Brian, Sarah, Roh, Luke and Mary Emma

Dear Chelle and Michael, We, Susie, Walt, Jeri, Nick and Carol, had a great time here. Spent many hours on the deck talking and reading. Traveled to the Oregon Caves. Well worth the drive. Scouted out the campgrounds and swimming holes. Went to Brookings too. Visited Crescent City and had some great Thai Food. Thouroughly enjoyed our stay here. Escaped the smoke from forest fires in Plumas County. Thanks again for sharing your home with us!
