The BeachComber Cottage is part of a triplex, three charming beach cottages consisting of two homes each featuring 2 bedrooms and one bathroom and one cottage home featuring one bedroom and one bathroom. These homes are usually rented separately and are private from each other, but they may also be rented together for larger family groups or families traveling with other families.
The Beachcomber #1 located at 2255 Vallecitos, La Jolla CA 92037 features 2 bedrooms, 1full bathroom and is located within walking distance, about 2 blocks to the coveted La Jolla Shores Beach. It is also just a quick stroll to many restaurants and shopping in La Jolla Shores on Avenida de la Playa. The Beachcomber #2 located at 8188 La Jolla Shores Drive, La Jolla CA 92037 also features a large private fully fenced in patio with outdoor dining, and an outdoor conversation area.
Master Bedroom:
The master bedroom has a queen size bed and 2 reading lamps. This bedroom shares a bathroom with the second Guest bedroom.
There is a large closet in this bedroom. Ceiling fans keep you cool in summer.
Bedroom #2
The second bedroom features a queen bed, 2 reading lamps. This bedroom shares a bathroom with the master Bedroom.
The two bedrooms are located in separate areas of the house, so they offer privacy.
Living Area:
Relax after a long day of swimming or sightseeing in our open living room. Comfortable seating, cable TV and secure WIFI is available. The sofa also folds out into a Queen Size bed. A DVD player is provided for more entertainment.
The living room in Beachcomber #2 opens up to the private patio.
Kitchen and Dining Room:
Our fully-equipped kitchen offers all of the items you'd need to prepare and serve meals in our La Jolla Shores cottage. Your family or group will enjoy eating at our dining table that seats 4 to 6 Guests. High chairs and pac-n-play cribs are available upon request and their is plenty of additional seating in the outside private patio.
Outdoor Living at Its Best:
Enjoy your meals outdoors in our outdoor fully fenced in private patio off the living room. The private courtyard features a propane barbeque grill, an outdoor dinning table and chairs and an outdoor conversation area. Stroll the grounds of our cottages and enjoy the private garden.
Beachcomber #1 located at 2255 Vallecitos, La Jolla CA 92037 does not have a fully fenced in patio, but this home features 2 separate outdoor dining areas.
Beachcomber #2 located at 8188 La Jolla Shores Drive, La Jolla CA 92037 features a fully fenced in private patio.
There is off street parking for all three cottages, and shared full laundry in the garage. The garage may also be used to store bikes, wetsuits, surfboards and other beach accessories.
La Jolla Shores Beach:
La Jolla Shores Beach is a family beach where you can stroll to the beach for long walks or to just bask in the sun in the afternoon. This sandy beach stretches for miles and has been voted "best Southern California Beach" The waves are the most gentle in the San Diego area and there is a wonderful playground at the beach, Kellogg Park which is perfect for small children.
Avenida de la Playa:
The Village in La Jolla Shores along Avenida de la Playa is about a 2 minute walk from our cottage and boasts some of the best restaurants found in La Jolla. Choose between world class dining at Piatti, Barbarella, Osteria Romantica or La Jolla landmark casual dining options such as Jeff's Burgers, and the Cheese Shop. There is also a great Mexican restaurant and a sushi restaurant. On Avenida de la Playa, you can also rent kayaks, scuba tanks, and snorkeling equipment. All the surf schools and surf camps are also located in the shores, so this is a convenient location for all your beach vacation activities.
Other San Diego Area Attractions
The San Diego area offers an abundance of attractions - all within a quick 15-20 minute drive of our La Jolla Shores cottage. While in the area, you can enjoy wildlife at Sea World or the San Diego Zoo, history in the San Diego Old Town area, amusement at Lego Land, excitement at the Del Mar Racetrack, or fun in the sun at any of many beautiful beaches: Windansea Beach, Marine St Beach, Torrey Pines Beach, Coronado Beach, Mission Beach or Pacific Beach.

We travel for business and pleasure a great deal. When possible we love to stay in other folks homes because they so often provide amenities and a personal touch that is often lacking in hotels. Staying at the Beachcomber was an exceptional experience for us. We frequent San Diego, often staying with family. This trip we decided to rent this condo because of its location. We made the right choice. The location was perfect. It was a short walk to everything - cafe for breakfast, beach for walking, fun or fine dining and shopping. In addition to the location, the cottage itself was spacious and private - both inside and out. Each room had doors that could be closed to provide privacy and accommodate everyone's schedule - whether they were an early riser or a late sleeper. The backyard was fenced and very private making it a safe haven for small children and relaxing moments for adults. Extra linens were available along with heaters/fans, hair dryer, fully equipped kitchen....I could go on. The most exceptional part of our experience with this property was their customer service. We were visiting over the winter holiday and not only were we able to ship our holiday gifts directly to the property management company - they even wrapped and delivered them to the cottage prior to our arrival! This was even more impressive to me because we arrived a day earlier than planned due to a flight change. We called late in the afternoon the day before our expected arrival and accommodations were made to let us check in early. During our stay we lost electrical power. The management company was on top of the situation, contacted the power company and kept us informed at all times of the situation. The next morning they followed up to be sure that all was well. After our stay, I discovered that I had left some items in the cottage. Not only did the management company make an extra trip to the cottage to look for and find my things - they shipped them back to me at no charge. Honestly, I could go on about our stay at the Beachcomber. It was exceptional. I recommend it without hesitation to anyone - families with young children or teenagers; couples traveling together; extended families....the cottage accommodates everyone easily. I am also happy to speak directly to anyone who would like to learn more about our stay.
Recommended for:Girls getaway, families with teenagers, age 55+, tourists without a car, pet owners, sightseeing, families with young children.

The management company running it were wonderful and The Beachcomber itself was adorable. It is basic but well worth the price. Location, location, location. We came with a small child and really loved the fact that it only took a few minutes to walk to the kid-friendly beach. It is only 10 minutes from Sea World and 20 from the Sea Diego Zoo. We would stay here again.

The house is attached to another. 1 floor, nice, clean, very basic, just what we would expect for about $2,000 per week in high season. Off street parking is a plus. It's a bit noisy during the day, but the evening is quite quiet.
