Being 64 and having traveled all my life, this house is the best I have been living in while traveling. Ten marvelous days in a dream house. You have to love modern tropical architecture to enjoy all the details of the the construction. Cool places when it is hot outside, no need to install AC, a haven of tranquility on a hill over a rambunctious village, the only sounds at night coming from howler monkeys ... Impeccable kitchen for people loving to cook ... A master bedroom on the second floor as we can only imagine, the king size bed is over a living room continuing as an outside terrace ... Plus another nice bedroom on the first floor with its own bathroom. A small and quiet Buddha garden where some wild mammals find their water in dry time ... The reason this house is so beautiful and functional is that the owner built it for herself and still live in it during the low season. Cleaning services were done regularly. Safety measures and devices were the best I saw in Costa Rica. Two nice cats added an accent of home living. Who can't afford a 2000 foot square house with the budget of a regular hotel room. One of the best deals in Santa Teresa.

Being more than a casual traveler, I pride myself in trying to find places to stay that have charm personality and no surprises. As anyone traveling to a county for the first time will admit, it's often hit or miss. What you see isn't always what you get. Not so with our stay here. Myself and my wife are in our 50's traveling with my nephew and his wife in their thirties we were so astounded by Casa Sol Y Sombra at it's beauty comfort and cleanliness. As a base point for our adventures in Santa Teresa it became more home to us than shelter. It is close to everything but private enough to have your own piece of paradise. Our host became a friend, and we will be making plans for our an extended stay this coming year. Make no mistake about this is a rare jewel.

Staying in Casa Sol y Sombra literally made our vacation the best vacation I have ever had! That's saying a lot because my husband and I are huge travelers. This house was everything we could ever want and more. It is a lot more stunning in person than in the pictures. Siggi, the owner, was so incredibly helpful and cool. We took all of her suggestions and because of it, had one of the most memorable weeks of our lives! I didn't want to leave the house. Waking up to those incredible views of the ocean and laying out under the stars at night on the patio made me feel like I was a millionaire. Guaranteed, we will all be back same time and place next year and for many after that! Thanks for everything, Siggi! See u next year!

We have rented this beautiful house for 2 weeks last season and we LOVED it. It is so private and all areas (bedrooms and hang outs) extremely spacey and the decoration is just perfect, not too much and not too little. it feels good to be a little bit up the hill and away from town but still in easy walkable distance to all the shops and restaurants. we can recommend this place highly and we are going to try to rent it again this year. 5 stars!
