Our second stay here and the only rental we have come back to a second time. So peaceful, lovely and serene with outstanding interior decor. Quality without clutter. Wonderful huge windows but a warm house. Close enough to restaurants and shops with great hiking in the area. Our dog LOVES the lake and so do we.

This was our second stay at Sylvia and Larry's gorgeous home on the lake. It has everything you could ask for and more! It is one of the best if not THE best Vrbo rental we have found!

My wife and I and our two Boxers had a wonderful weeklong stay at this property. It was absolutely fantastic and just what we were looking for: a nicely appointed, secluded property that was extremely relaxing. We will plan to return again. Thanks, Sylvia! We are jealous of your property.

I arrived the same day a huge winter storm passed through and the private home was a perfect winter retreat. Even though the home is on a dirt road (its in good shape) it was plowed and I had no issues getting about. Days were warm actually and nights very clear. The home has everything you could need (and more) and very well taken care of. Decor is warm and all very comforting and relaxing. I love this little get-away place.

We recently stayed at this lakeside stone cottage and we were amazed by all that it had to offer. Every aspect of the home- especially the river stone fireplace, gourmet kitchen, soaking tub in the master bath, and the view from the many windows- was gorgeous. The 2 bedroom house was a perfect fit for 3 couples and our dogs (one couple used the provided inflatable mattress and found it very comfortable). The lake is mostly dried up during the winter which created a great environment for us to run in and explore with our dogs. The view of Mt. Shasta from the middle of the lakebed was amazing. The home was almost directly halfway between friends coming from San Francisco (a 5 hour drive) and friends coming from Portland (just over 6 hour drive). We're already talking about planning a return trip in the years to come. With gratitude for a wonderful stay, Nicole from SF

There isn't enough room to say all that I want to say about this majestic home. From the very first day we arrived we were totally in love. My husband and I have been visiting this area for six years, and never have we stayed in such a tranquil place. Everything about the home and the land is a complete reflection of the owner's heart and soul. The peaceful ambiance of the entire area lulled us to sleep every night and the visiting animals entertained us on a daily basis. Being a disabled Native American, I appreciated the decor of the home, along with the easy access to everything we needed. Thank you Sylvia for sharing your home with the two of us and we look forward to returning.
Owner response:Thank you. I am thrilled that you had a wonderful stay. Sylvia

This home was the perfect escape for a week in June. The inside was gorgeous, wonderfully comfortable furnishings and stunning views out of huge picture windows. The outside was even more incredible...sitting on the lawn in the sunshine, swimming in the lake, walking the forest paths and canoeing were the highlights. The owner was incredibly responsive and pleasant. Perfect for family visits (including pets), couples weekend, girls getaway...etc. I can't wait to plan my next visit!

The lake, beach, mountain air and forests are breathtaking, the home is stunning, the owners are gracious and their attention to every detail made us feel pampered beyond description. The fact that our dogs were welcome in the home and garage, allowed to play on the beach and kayak with us on the lake made our short stay one that we will cherish for many years to come. All of our future vacation rentals will be measured against this one, and we fully expect to visit again!

This was a wonderful retreat for our family of 4. The house was clean, cozy, and tastefully decorated. Our kids LOVED being at the house, unlike many other rental homes we've stayed at. We were amazed at how well stocked the kitchen was! We enjoyed the peaceful surrounding and our kids had so much fun on our hikes around the lake. We were lucky enough to see deer, geese, quails, and a jack rabbit. We've already recommended this house to many of our other friends who are thinking about making a trip to Mt. Shasta area.

Secluded, beautiful location. The cottage was nice and cozy, with modern amenities such as a gourmet kitchen, jacuzzi tub, and big TV that made our stay very comfortable. We're looking forward to visiting again!

My husband, father in law and Irish Setter had an awesome time at your beautiful home. The use of stone, granite and tile on the fireplace, in the kitchen, bath area and on the exterior of the home is just amazing! What a wonderful place to meditate and contemplate life. We will surely be back!

My husband and I rented the house for 10 days. The house itself is lovely - beautifully built with hardwood floors, spectacular picture windows, granite countertops in the kitchen and master bathroom, and a handsome, covered exterior deck overlooking the meadow. The location is quiet and a wonderful spot to view all kinds of wildlife. We also enjoyed hikes in the area including along the McCloud River where we saw river otters, and on Mt. Shasta.

Just wanted to stay Thank You Sylvia, and Larry! We had a Wonderful time from 8/1/08-8/3/08 at your Lakeside Stone Cottage! When we arrived we could tell that this place was the right choice. Your cottage was very beautiful from the rooftop to bottom. The Stone Cottage setting was so serene and perfect! We loved seeing all of the deer right at the back of the yard. The little frogs all over out front were so adorable. The spectacular views of Mt.Shasta. All the amenities were well appointed. Our stay at the Lakeside Stone Cottage was very appreciated and memorable. We hope to be back in the very near future. We look forward to seeing your projects like the firepit complete. The firpit sounds like a great addition. My Family would highly recommend anyone reading this to stay at the Stone Cottage you will fall in love with it when you arrive! Well I never had a chance to watch tv on the fantastic flat screen as I was too busy enjoying the deck most of the afternoon and evening. In the mornings it was out on the canoe and just gliding up and down the lake. If there is heaven on earth, than the Rock House is it. I have not had such an amazing time in quite a while. I mentioned the house to other people at the wedding and they were all jealous. I am already trying to figure out a date when I may come back up and stay for 1 week as the weekend just flew by. The home far surpassed my expectations.

Absolutely perfect. I was looking for a place for a "Girls Getaway" and found paradise. From the moment we pulled up we knew we had made the right choice. Thank you! The only decisions we had to make were should we get massages, fix something to eat, read, lay out in the sun, take the canoe out, call out husbands, or have another glass of wine (well, the last one was a given!). We were there for three days and fell in love with it. We are already making plans for next year. I work in the tourism industry and would highly recommend our new favorite place to anyone looking for a glimpse of heaven. P.S. My dog loved his vacation as well.

My son (22), my daughter (16) and I spent 5 days at this wonderful 'get away from it all' cabin. My daughter had broken her foot and was on crutches so I was looking for a rental without stairs. This place was ideal, plus we could drive to the private beach that is part of the property and use the gas BBQ there and the canoe that was provided. (or you can walk through the woods along the edge of the lake to get there). The scenery is absolutely georgeous from every location on the property and the night sky was spectacular. We all loved it!!

We loved our stay at this beautiful home on the lake. The views were spectacular, the house was both elegant and comfortable, and private beach was fantastic. We loved canoeing, watching birds, trees, and gorgeous mountain views. This is a great place, and our dog had the time of his life too!

Our vacation was to celebrate our anniversary and we found the house, views and setting to be magnificent, quiet and serene. It is well built, nicely appointed and perfect for a couple that wants a five star experience without the distraction of other people. We are cyclists and took 3 spectacular rides during our 5 day stay. The hikes around the ranch were also wonderful. We had a fabulous time but wished we had booked it for a week. Next time we will definitely stay longer.

The pictures really don't do this place justice. The cottage is very cute and nicely appointed. The applicances are top-notch, and it's a cook's kitchen. There's a deck on the back of the cottage that overlooks the lake and was where we spent the majority of our time while at the cottage. However, the outdoors really deserve all of the attention. The cottage is situated on a rather large parcel that has multiple access points to the lake - perfect for swimming, canoing, and a real treat for dogs. The hammock, featured in one of the pictures, is secluded enough for a nap, with an amazing view of Mt. Shasta in the background. The picnic area features a large gas grill, and a couple of fire rings. The location is perfect - it's remote, but not creepy. The nearest town is just a few miles away. The neighbors are quiet (there aren't many), and everyone we saw was friendly. This is a great location from which to explore the Mt. Shasta area, but we were very content to stay on the property and enjoy the nature at hand. There's abundant wildlife to enjoy as well. We were visited in the mornings by deer, geese, ducks, and egrets, and were lucky enough to see a bald eagle perched nearby. We (wife + 2 big dogs) can't wait to return.
