Our house in Carlsbad has all the charm, warmth and romance of a bed and breakfast, but the privacy and conveniences of home. The home is only about 1/2 block from the beach and offers ocean views from the second story. The residence consists of two totally separate rental units, each with their own private entrance. The rental unit has three bedrooms, and three bathrooms, including two large master suites. The decorative style of the unit is comfortable and casual with mission style furniture throughout. The unit also has a living room, modern kitchen, large outdoor deck and a private balcony with ocean view. The unit is completely furnished and includes dishes, linens, a TV's (with cable) and DVD and CD players.
Bedroom 1: The Turret Suite is an exceptionally large, sunny suite with its own private bathroom. It is furnished with an old-fashioned, queen-size iron bed as well as a daybed. The turret portion of the suite serves as a unique sitting and game area and is framed by five antique arte nouveau stained-glass windows.
Bedroom 2: The Pacific Suite boasts the loveliest view of the entire residence - it enjoys a vast ocean view from its large window which opens up to an inviting outside private balcony that romantically seduces its visitors to watch the sunsets speckled by gliding surfers. The suite is extremely large with a king-size, antique-style Southern “rice bed” and matching dresser and large table, sitting area and private bathroom.
Bedroom 3: The Eastlake Room is decorated in the American Victorian, Eastlake style. The room is furnished with a matching antique walnut bedroom set, consisting of a double-size bed, mirrored dresser and washstand. The room has an adjoining full bathroom.
Kitchen: The kitchen is ultra-contemporary in terms of appliances,with a dishwasher and built-in microwave, but has a traditional elegant look from its antique-looking cherry wood cabinets and dark vermillion granite countertops.
There is counter seating on stools as well as a charming dining area which overlooks the large private outdoor deck and spills into the living area.
Living Area: The living area is cozy yet elegant, featuring mission style furniture. Perfect for entertaining, this area includes a marble gas fireplace, TV (with cable) and DVD and CD players and is accessible through the front entry (which has its own seating area under a stained-glass window) and the outside deck (complete with lounge chairs, picnic table and gas barbeque).
The house is located along the coast in the beautiful Terra Mar community of Carlsbad, California on Pacific Coast Highway 101. Carlsbad is a quaint historic village lined with beaches and host to charming shops and restaurants. Located about 30 miles north of San Diego, it is easy driving distance to Lego land, the Del Mar Race Track, numerous golf courses, SeaWorld, the Wild Animal Park, the San Diego Zoo and the numerous museums in Balboa Park.
