If you are an off-roader this is the heart of the Oregon Dunes National Recreation Area. There are large areas of the dunes open to off-roading, or there are quiet hiking trails through forests and dunes, estuaries and hills to the beach. The only things that keeps this review at "Good" instead of "Excellent" are the uncomfortable beds and that some minor repairs are needed on the home. This is not a luxury home as it is a bit 'rustic' but the location is spectacular - and that's what we were really going for! A relatively easy walk down the hill to the beach made it easy to make several trips every day including evening walks down to the beach for bonfires. The beach in this area is gorgeous! Soft white sand with rolling dunes off to the south made for perfect morning walks with the dogs. During our stay we spotted whales from the patio and enjoyed exploring the south jetty at low tide with hundreds of starfish and sea urchins. The fenced in side yard of the home is small but perfectly adequate for washing off beach toys, sandy feet and stinky dogs! As I mentioned earlier, this home is a bit rustic but it does have all the necessities including full kitchen with microwave and a laundry room with full size washer and dryer which we found to be very beneficial. The location is well situated to drive into Old Town Florence and easy access to several wonderful spots along Hwy 101 including Cape Perpetua and Honeyman State Park. We also enjoyed dune buggy rides and sandboarding within close proximity as well as day trips into Reedsport and Yachats. In short, there is plenty to keep you busy for an entire week or more! I recommend this property and look forward to another visit!
