Why the Owner Chose LaFollette
We LOVE the area we are in called Big Creek...we sit on a point in our cove(Racetrack Hollow) and have plenty of shore line for kids to walk around and you can enjoy swimming right off of our dock. It's very peaceful and relaxing in Lafollette and you feel like your worlds away from the city life! Our lot is one of the best!
The Unique Benefits at this House
Where do I begin? We love our gourmet kitchen! You won't find a better one on the lake. If you love to cook or hang out watching the cook this is the place to be!
The screened in porch is one of our favorites with our comercial size grill. So much fun to hang out at the end of the day or grill out for lunch! We have surround sound throughout our home so you can enjoy listening to music wherever you choose to hang out!Even outside!!
Another unique feature in our house is our furniture. We brought in custom furniture from South Dakota...all of our beds and kitchen table were hand made!
The number 1 extra our renters love would be our huge ice machine...you never have to worry about buying ice on the lake. You can fill your coolers before you even head to the dock!
We pride ourselves on keeping our house exteremely clean and are ready for you to come down and have a relaxing and wonderful vacation just like we do!!!
Our house sits in a cove with year round water...great for swimming right off of the dock, fishing, etc!

We hosted a "Get Away Wedding" for our initimate wedding experience. The beauty of the home is archetectually divine and centers on personally engaging guests to participate as a "Head Chef Dorko"!. Even in February, underneath blissful blanket of snow we were able to reconnect to friends and family by laughing, cooking, and yes even dancing by the enormous fireplace to Nat King Cole, Sinatra, and of course Dean Marthin! It felt very much like a Hallmark Card or a Thomas Kincaid painting. Getting married and having our family surround us for a family reunion-vacation, felt surreal and yet it will always be the most amazing thing we could do for our family; bring them together for a family vacation in the winter. Thank you John and Marci for sharing your dream with the rest of world. I can only imagine groups from churches, work retreats or continuing education forums would be enthralled when they see the massive accommading rooms, gourment kitchen, and the proximity to Norris Lake itself. The love you have put into this home is more than amazing....it's gift that you now allow others to share! When it snowed on Valentines Day....I felt like we were in our little Wedding Snow Globe! THANK YOU, Thank You, thank you for making our wedding dream come true!!! May your home be a beacon for anyone who needs a winter retreat with lots of R & R. ~ Love, Debora and Joe
Owner response:Hey Debora and Joe We were glad our home was part of your wedding day and you are so welcome!!! Thank you so much for the great review and hopefully more people will visit in the winter. You know we love to come year round!!! It's quite the getaway!!! We always love when people love it as much as we do!!! Hope to see the Dorko clan again!! John, Marci and Heidi

My sister and I brought our husbands, grown children and youngsters to Barefoot Landing for a wonderfully relaxing week in June. It was the best of all possible worlds for everyone from age 8 to 58 The young people skied and rode jet skis while the "mature" ones in the crowd fished, sunbathed or enjoyed the deck and screened in porch. We made fabulous dinners in the amazing kitchen and we had a seemingly endless supply of frozen drinks from the commercial icee maker. The lake is very calm and there was very little boat traffic the entire week we were there. The house was a comfortable refuge when it rained. Plenty of space for everyone to do their thing while inside but we mostly gathered at the large dining table and did crafts. We'll definitely return.

That's what my uncle from Florida kept saying about Barefoot Landing and Norris Lake! We celebrated my parents 70th birthday's this year and Barefooot Landing was awesome! Plenty of room for the entire family. Everyone kept telling me what a wonderful job I did picking the right house at Norris Lake. The unbelievable generosity and hospitality from owners John and Marci was the icing on the cake. They were so incredibly friendly and helpful. John even helped launch our boat! What a truly awesome experience!

Barefoot Landing is much more than described here! Whether it's a peaceful retreat or action packed weekend there is not a better place to stay. This home has plenty of space and first class touches, including every detailed amenity you can imagine. You will not have to bring anything besides your bathing suit and your happy hour state of mind.
Owner response:Thanks Rob...we are so glad you and your friends and family had a wonderful time! John really enjoyed meeting and talking with you. Hope to see you back next year! Marci

I have had the privilege of going to Barefoot Landing quite often and I always look foward to going back again. It truly is one of the most relaxing places to visit. while I love the lake views, the beautiful bedrooms, and the cozy screened porch, my truly favorite area is the large gourmet kitchen. No matter what all of our friends or family do all day, in different directions, we meet up in the kitchen to talk and laugh for hours over dinner and snacks! It's a great place to come together and feel like a home away from home!

What a beautiful home. I have a large family and it is so hard to find somewhere we can all stay together, this was the perfect place. You can tell there was no expense spared when the owners built this house. The rooms are spacious, the location is ideal on the lake, it is just a wonderful get away. I especially loved the gourmet kitchen and large dining room table. It is nice for everyone to be able to sit down and eat together. I can't wait to get back to Barefoot every year !!

I have stayed at Barefoot Landing only once, but I can't wait to go back! I'm planning on taking my dad there for his 60th birthday to spend with his family. The property is absolutely gorgeous, both inside and out. It's perfect for a group trip with or without children.

I had heard so many wonderful things about Barefoot Landing and until I was invited there for our first "Girls Weekend" everything that everyone has said was absolutely true. What a magnificant place to be with friends and family! There is so much to do or if you like, just do nothing, relax, bring a book and enjoy the beautiful sceanry and sounds of the wooded area. I am always looking forward for our "girls weekend" and can't wait to get down there to enjoy another weekend with them. Thanks to the Johannas for sharing their beautiful home with all of us.

This is truely one of a kind! I love to see the reaction in the kids faces when we pull in the driveway and how they are trying to open the car door before we even come to a stop. Everyone wants to be the first one to get into the house! It's amazing how quickly the car gets unloaded and the bathing suits are on! The location of the dock is perfect for swimming, being that it's tucked back away from the large body of water and so safe that enjoying a few adult beverages while the kids swim is relaxing instead of stressfull. There is always plenty of calm water for sking, wakeboarding and tubing and only five to six minutes away from two Marinas for a quick lunch or dinner. It's hard to eat dinner out when the kitchen in this place is not only overstocked with everything you could ever need but also one of the many gathering spots where everyone ends up preparing food and remembering the days events! There is so much space in this house that even large numbers of kids can be downstairs watching T.V at night and everyone else can be on the screened in porch or in the living room. The only time you see the kids is when the want something to drink or more popcorn. This place is truely amazing and I really can't thank John and Marci enough for all the great times and memories we've had at Bearfoot Landing!
