  I just returned yesterday from my stay at 3rd Watch, and I was not disappointed in the least. The house was just as described. It was decorated simply but beautifully, and the relaxing beachy colors set the tone for a trip to just enjoy tranquility and solitude. The house was spotless and fresh smelling when I arrived. The bed was so comfortable, I slept better than I had in years! It was a quiet area, a short walk to the beach, with a public beach access nearby. The kitchen was adequately equipped, even though I didn't really make use of much other than the coffee maker! The owner was so pleasant to deal with. After I had booked the stay, she had informed me that there may be siding work being done on the house during my one full day there. (I had booked a 2 day trip.) Upon request, she very kindly rescheduled that work to be done after my departure, and I could not be more grateful! There was not an abundance of things to do on the island, but if your goal is solitude, as mine was, that's not a problem. Had I traveled with my teenagers, that might have been an issue, but I have no complaints at all regarding my stay. I will definitely consider booking 3rd Watch for future trips!

  We really enjoyed staying at the 3rd Watch cottage. There were four adults and a 15 month old and we all were very happy. It is so close to the beach which is extremely convenient and easy to carry beach things to and from. The house was very clean and we enjoyed the fully stocked kitchen which we used to cook a few times. The deck was great to relax on. There is also a walking/biking/running trail very close that we used every day. You can walk to multiple restaurants, a Food Lion, coffee shop, etc. We really like having laundry on site as well and the shower in the back of the house for de-sanding from the beach. We will definitely return.

  We loved this vacation rental! It's exactly as described and as shown in the pictures. It was clean and had all the amenities of home. We especially enjoyed the proximity to the beach (3rd row but close enough to grab lunch/run back for items) and the rockers on the wrap around porch. The beach here is absolutely beautiful and every day we basically had the beachfront to ourselves. Everything you need is in driving distance and even close enough to walk....restaurants, the Food Lion, liquor store, etc. We would not change one thing about this place, it was perfect and we can't wait to return! We go the quiet, relaxing vacation we were looking for.

  Recommended for: Age 55+, people with disabilities, tourists without a car, romantic getaway, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway.

  What a Great Place! We loved the location! Close to beach,gift shops, grocery and activities. "Third Watch" Was clean and current and perfect for two couples and two young children. We enjoyed the wrap around deck and Adirondeck chairs all week long. It was also nice to have an area in the garage to store bikes and beach toys. The Oleander trees and well maintained yard framed the property with soft perfection. Thanks for the memories.

  Decent stay but could use some work. 1. Broken garage door/opener 2. No gutters, rain off the metal roof makes for water wall at the entrance door. 3. Empty lot next door is on one hand a good buffer but on the other you get to look at somewhat of a dumping ground on your way to and from the beach. 4. Loose base hardware leftover from removed sliding shower door is a trip hazard. 5. A cheat sheet for the dvd player would help. 6. If we had had kids there I would have been concerned that the A/C electrical disconnect box was secured to the wall with nothing but Duct tape,a potential safety hazard. Bottom line: Good but 3rd. Watch would not be my 1st. choice on a return trip.

  Owner response: We recently purchased the house last month & have not had the opportunity to address these issues.We will repair all the issues mentioned. The trash on the vacant lot is supposed to be picked up by the town maintenance,I will contact them.We hope you will reconsider in the future!

  The description was very accurate. The cottage was well appointed, comfortable, and perfect for two people. The beach access was very close and the ocean was visible from the deck. The beach itself was beautiful and uncrowded. The location of the cottage wsa ideal, as it was close to shops but very quiet and residential. I especially liked the lack of commercialism in the area. We did have to contact the owner, as we had some trouble with the oven. He came over right away and was most courteous. The problem was solved quickly. Nearby restaurants were very good and a fresh seafood market was just down the street. I highly recommend this cottage. We're considering returning next year.

  We stayed in this house in the summer of 2010 for a week. It was awesome. We had never been to the ocean before and we thought 3rd row was really far back but it was only like 40 steps to the ocean. It was so nice. This house is close to everything and we will most definantly come back if we get the chance. And don't forget to order out pizza one night if you're not from the east coast... :P

  The house was very true to it's description. Very clean, well maintained and nicely decorated. It is also conveniently located to the beach, grocery store and other shopping areas. We had a great time and would love to visit 3rd Watch again!

  I highly recommend renting this beautiful, clean home that is just steps to the beach. We rented it for several weeks in the winter and could not have had a better experience. If we are ever back in the Emerald Isle area we will definitely check to see if 3rd Watch is available!
