Why not relax with family and friends at our cozy cabin and experience all the fun that a lakeside location offers!? Kids love jumping off our dock and paddling around our quiet cove. Enjoy a meal or cocktails on the screened porch; walk in the woods, fish off the dock or rent a boat and explore the Southeast's largest and quietest lake. Do as little or as much as you like!
The newly renovated three-bedroom, two-bath Whippoorwill Cabin, is fewer than 2 hours from downtown Atlanta and 1 hour from Greenville. You'll enjoy the peace and quiet of our rural location...watch Canada geese paddle in the lake or maybe catch a glimpse of wild turkeys or deer from the comfort of the screen porch.
The rustic cabin, decorated in a relaxed country style, features an open floor plan that’s great for entertaining and larger groups. Sliding glass doors across the entire back of the house ensure a panoramic view of woods and the water from the living room, dining room and kitchen. The Master bedroom also features a deck, perfect for the morning cup of coffee. The Master also has a brand-new flat panel television.
All the bedrooms can be closed off for privacy and kids’ earlier bedtimes. The cabin comfortably sleeps 8 (1 King, 1 Queen, and 2 bunk beds).
The outdoor area includes a picnic table and charcoal grill.
A gentle slope takes you down to the dock and shallow kids’ play area (owner’s boat stays in slip but there is room to tie up on the dock). Use of a kayak ensures excellent exploring and fishing in the cove. We are also very close to the big water if you bring your own boat or Jet ski. The house is five minutes from the boat launch at Milltown Campground. (If you need to rent a boat, we can help you with that process.) The property and dock face farmland across the cove so your view is green and natural.
A perfect afternoon might be curling up with a book on the screen porch, surrounded by trees with the sounds of birds.
Other amenities include fully equipped brand-new kitchen with microwave and new dishwasher and refrigerator; new washer and dryer; kid’s toys and games; and selection of books and magazines.
The cabin is 3 miles from a convenience store, five minutes by car from Carter's Ferry Boat Ramp, 10 miles (20 minutes)to historic downtown Hartwell, and 9 miles to Hartwell Marina.
There is a fully refundable security deposit of $250 if no damage. The housekeeping fee is $95. We do welcome pets with a fully refundable pet policy of $200 if no damage.

We love our quiet cove! There is no need to worry about jetski or boat traffic near our dock so kids can swim and relax without worries.
The gently graded and short walk from our house to our dock makes the transport of coolers, towels and supplies an easy task.
Our lot is wooded so you have lots of privacy.
We renovated and decorated our home for a lakeside feel with fishing prints and country antiques. We love to cook so our newly renovated kitchen is fully stocked with everything you need to make a memorable meal!
The wood-burning fireplace makes for a cozy getaway in the Fall and Winter as well.

We bought this cabin so that our little girls would have an escape from the city to experience nature and the country. After purchasing the house, we quickly renovated it, adding the living room and master bedroom so that we could have friends and family stay with us.

Our family spent Thanksgiving week at Whippoorwill Cabin and it was the cure for a very hectic Fall! Quiet, beauty and everything we could possibly need in the cabin. From having a fire with coffee on cool mornings to sunning on the deck in the warm afternoons, we can't wait to go back. It was a big part of our holiday to have our dog with us, and I was worried that a dog-friendly cabin would be, well, kinda doggy. Happily, Whippoorwill was anything but. It was clean as a pin, and our dog had a great time, too.

We had a great time at this beautiful cabin. The floor plan was very open and perfect for our girls + kids weekend. The kids bunkbed room was perfect as were the toys and movies. The big porch was great for wine night and we all had a great time lounging in the lake during the day. Thanks again!

My family came into town to visit and we were looking to get out of Atlanta. This house is a perfect get away!! Everything you could possibly need is there waiting for you. The rooms are perfect! I really liked the open floor plan. We had an amazing time!! Not to mention had a BLAST on the dock fishing and kayaking!! Truly a vacation to remember!! The owner Stephanie is lovely and is extremely helpful. Definitely a DO !!

We have just returned from a lovely long weekend at whippoorwill cabin. The cabin was perfectly suited for our family of teens and a small dog. We enjoyed the dock and kayak and loved the quiet location. It was very relaxing for the adults with plenty to do for the kids. The directions were very clear which was so helpful since the property not right off the main road. We would definitely come again.

My family stayed at this wonderful cabin with easy lake access over the 4th of July week this summer. It was very well furnished, spacious, comfortable and exactly as described. The cabin is wonderful and on a part of the lake that is quiet, with deep water and lots of privacy. The dock was perfect for coffee in the morning all the way through to after-dinner treats. The cabin is somewhat isolated, but we found everything we needed right on site.We enjoyed a very relaxing week, swimming, sunning and sleeping, and we can't wait to visit again - we may have found our annual vacation spot - thanks for the great hospitality!

We have been several times and have recommended to many of our friends. We love this lake house! We found the listing description to be totally accurate. The kitchen is large and well equipped, the beds are comfortable, and the place is kid friendly with toys and games. My favorite 2 spots are the screened in porch and the dock. We all had fun: the kids played in the lake (there was a little beach area next to the dock), while my husband fished from the dock and I soaked up the sun. Every time we leave, we are totally relaxed and refreshed.

Our family has so enjoyed our weekend stays at this charming lake house on Lake Hartwell. It’s so peaceful and relaxing, that you quickly forget that you are just two hours away from Atlanta! Our children loved swimming and jumping off of the dock into the lake, which is just steps away from the house. The bedrooms were very comfortable and our boys had no problems going to sleep while we watched TV in the main room. We also enjoyed having a glass of wine on the screened in porch and cooked out on the grill every night for dinner. Lovely house…. Can’t wait to go back again!
