Upstairs or down, inside or out, the views, privacy, comfort, and romantic ambiance of this intimate, elegant villa will delight you.
Clinging to the hillside above Cruz Bay, Perelandra's breathtaking views sweep from the deserted cays nestled in the Windward Passage to the sailboats skimming through Pillsbury Sound to the spectacular sunsets resting upon St. Thomas. Later in the evening, St. Thomas' twinkling lights provide a romantic backdrop to your evening.
The villa's perfect location offers proximity to town -- with its ferries, restaurants, and shops -- and to the world-famous National Park beaches of the North Shore while also providing complete privacy among lush landscaping.
Perelandra offers two luxuriously appointed bedrooms -- each with its own air-conditioning, and two large bathrooms -- each with a large walk-in shower.
This meticulously-crafted home includes cove molding, mood lighting, Saltilo tiles, exotic woods, and ceiling fans throughout. Glass tiles set in the vaulted ceilings bathe the living areas in light.
Doors from both bedrooms and the great room open out onto one of two levels of wrap-around decks and verandahs, which in turn, lead to the beautiful, refreshing pool. Perfectly sized to be large enough to cool off and exercise in (10 x18) but small enough to warm up quickly in the sun. The pool area provides beautiful views of the ocean and St. Thomas and it is surrounded by garden walls and verdant foliage and flowers.
Perelandra is very-well provisioned. Its kitchen provides everything you'll need to fix snacks for the beach, make your own exotic drinks to sip poolside or while watching the sunset, or to prepare that romantic dinner for just the two of you. Special kitchen features include a new stainless steel refrigerator, stainless steel range chef-quality pots and pans, and designer dinnerware for both indoor and outdoor dining.
Additional amenities also include a new large Washer and Dryer; phones upstairs and down, with answering machine; beach chairs and towels; and picnic coolers. See extensive list below of all additional amenities provided for your comfort and convenience. All items are top quality.

We visited PERELANDRA in late January/early February, 2012. Very comfortable and spacious (for two couples) home overlooking Cruz Bay. Great location for conveniently getting to town, the north shore beaches and even the East End. Restaurants are very good in St John, but best to cook your own and eat breakfast and dinner while enjoying the view from the upper deck. House was in very good condition, having just been renovated, but for one or two things that needed tweaking (e.g. the refrigerator needed to be adjusted) the rental agent was most responsive. I would recommend a stay at PERELANDRA.
Owner response:We are so glad everyone is enjoying the renovations at Perelandra. We were just there ourselves, enjoying the new decks and that bug free screen porch. My favorite is eating breakfast on the deck watching the sailboats and even some cruise ships sailing by. We are constantly doing things to make Perelandra even better. And we are so lucky to have our management company in place to see to the things our guests need during their stay in a timely manner.

St John is an Island Gem

Our stay at Perelandra was very enjoyable. The house has a beautiful view and the pool is a nice ending to the day after the beach. If you are not a beach person, don't go to St John. The beaches on the island are outstanding. Nothwithstanding, St John is a quirky island. It's a basic place, not very polished, nor has it succumbed to a look nor feel like a tourist mecca. There are only 2 hotels on the Island, and if you like staying in a hotel skip St John. Everything is low key. All you need is shorts, tee shirts and a bathing suit. Don't be surprised if your taxi driver simply stops and says hello to a passerby. We were on St John in 2001 and to its credit, not much has changed. Taking the ferry from St. Thomas is an added bonus as you arrive on St John's dock at Cruz Bay. You must rent a car and ride around the small island. Just be careful, very careful, as you must drive on the left and it is very easy to move right... as I did. Also, when driving, be aware you are driving on what were old donkey paths and you will encounter some hairpin turns on hilly roads. Make sure you acquaint yourself with what 1st and 2nd gear are used for on the car. No worries though...it's fun! But get out of Cruz Bay and take the North Road to the beaches and also visit Coral Bay. Here you will see the wild donkeys, Mongoose and chickens roaming about. Also, it looks like serious sailors anchor their boats in Coral Bay. Back in Cruz Bay, if you want to experience some excellent local barbeque, go to Uncle Joe's right in the middle of town. It's about as low keyed a place you can experience but very enjoyable. Also I suggest you keep the hurricane shutters closed during the day to keep the house cool and make a left when you reach the bottom of the hill, called "Jacob's Ladder." After the left, you can make a u-turn at St John's Market and head back into St John.... You have to rent Perelandra to understand what I have said. Lastly, I read in an above review, that it was noisy (from critters) at night. To me, that noise was wonderful. By the 3/4 night you don't even hear the critters and not to hear automobiles, airplanes nor any sound from your neighbors, etc., etc. was a joy.
Owner response:We are so glad you enjoyed your stay at Perelandra. St John is indeed a gem! We love it so much. Two thirds of the island is a National Park so there will never be the high rises and huge hotel complexes you see on other islands. We are so lucky! Perelandra is the perfect place to experience St. John. You can look at at the sea, watch the sunsets and then the twinkling lights of St. Thomas. Cruz Bay, only five minutes away has all the shopping and variety of restaurants you could want and the beaches are a short drive away. We are happy to share Perelandra with you. If you come back you will see the improvements we are doing to the villa in September and October. We are replacing the wooden decks with cut coral, adding a screen porch to part of the upper deck, getting all new outdoor furniture and appliances and upgrading the kitchen and bathroom cabinets. Perelandra will be even better soon.

We had a wonderful time during our stay at Perelandra. We were greeted at the Cruz Bay dock by property management, who 1st took us to our car rental and then to the house. She was very nice and made us feel welcome. There are so many positives about Perelandra. The View from the Deck is beautiful. There are lots of Iguana's hanging out in the tree tops and humming birds at the feeder. The house is very clean and you feel safe there. The landscaping makes the house very private. The kitchen is stocked with dishes, cutlery, glasses, spices etc. There also a very nice grill on the deck. There are 2 supermarkets just a few minutes drive away. The pool is very nice and clean. There is also a washer and dryer at the house so you can pack lighter. We enjoyed the wireless internet and a very nice Stereo that you can connect to your Ipod. The upstairs bedroom is nice and has a great view. The only cons: The downstairs bedroom has a little bit of a musty smell to it and the air conditioner is right next to the bed, so blows on your head as you sleep. The main part of the house can get a little warm if there is no breeze even with the ceiling fans. Overall we had a amazing time.
Owner response:We are so pleased you enjoyed Perelandra. We really appreciate Cimarron, our management company. They really take care of our guests. We are trying to make Perelandra a wonderful vacation rental and feel the privacy and views make it a very special place. We are now making plans to make Perelandra even more beautiful by replacing all the wood decks with cut coral, adding a screened porch to the upper deck, adding an out door shower as well as all new outdoor furniture and replacing all the appliances as well as upgrading the kitchen and bathroom cabinets. Come back and see it all.

This home is amazing for a very private & relaxing getaway. We spent our honeymoon here & we were happy with the quality for the price. I wish St John had more small "couples" places so we didn't have to waste an entire sweet downstairs - we never really used it but its so difficult to find a 1 br place $$ wise, I get that. I will say both good & bad (very little bad about this place). The views from this home are AMAZING! The decor & cleanliness are excellent. The pool was serviced and the gardens were attended to during our stay & everyone was very polite/unobtrusive of our privacy. The pool is AWESOME after a long day at the beach & perfect for a lazy day at "home." Overall this is an amazing villa. But, I have to report the little bit of bad we encountered here.....(as tiny as it is-thats what eveyone wants to be aware of right?)(we traveled in the 1st week of may-our wedding was april 30th). Being a sun/warmth lover, to our suprise we found the heat to be un-escapeable. The bedroom AC (which is the only one in the unit) took MANY HOURS to make the room even somewhat comfortable. We were also asked upon arrrival to keep it off until the evening to save electric..we respected that request. I very much understand that & agree with it..this is a "green island"! However, by the end of our stay we were overwhelmed by the heat & NEVER felt the reported breezes on the island (again...maybe just our week) LOL...we cherished our moments in our rental vehicle with AC after the extreeemly hot weather. We loved this rental...I highly recommend it....but it needs better AC for the seasons that do not benefit from the tradewinds. One last note. This villa is serviced by cistern water (very common for the island). So, expect to purchase drinking water. Expect to take an "island shower" (which is fine!) and expect the tap water to smell like garbage. Hey...its all worth it to be green" and experience this gem of an island. I want to say...this review is more inclusive of the bad. But< I wish I had this info going in. OVERALL...this is a gem & I hope we can return one day! Perelandra is amazing & St John is a gift that we all need to experience!!!
Owner response:Thanks for the review on your stay a year ago. As the new owners since February we just finished reading your 11 page write up in our guest book. We are happy see that you wrote that "this was your best getaway to date" . We have just finished our first 10 day stay- coincidentally at the end of May. We certainly agree that the view is great and the pool was terrific after a day at the beach. As to the "bad" we had no issues with the air conditioners and used the ceiling fans most of the time which kept us cool and comfortable. As there are no wells anywhere on St. John all the house water comes from cisterns. We didn't notice any odor from the water, though we did buy bottled water as we did when we were renters on St. John before we were lucky enough to buy Perelandra. You are welcome back to Perelandra anytime.

Perelandra was just want we wanted - very private, with a pool, and an awesome view of Cruz Bay. There are 2 bedrooms, but we only used the upstairs one one. (The downstairs one was almost identical, with its own full bathroom.) The bed was comfy and both bedrooms have an A/C unit which kept it plenty cold. The only reason I didn't choose "Excellent" for "Sleep Quality" was because the bugs and birds at night are very loud. :) You could see that as charming or annoying - but it's just part of the island experience! The location of the villa is perfect - far enough away from the main road to be quiet and private, up on the hillside with a GREAT view, and still within a 5 minute drive of main Cruz Bay, and within 15 minute drive of the north shore beaches. We loved the full kitchen and BBQ grill - we ate most of our meals right in the villa. Perelandra also has satellite TV, wireless internet access, plenty of island guidebooks to help you out, and all the beach items you'll need - chairs, towels, coolers, umbrella, etc. The property owners were fantastic to work with - very responsive and knowledgable, and even called us while we were there to make sure things were going well. And the local property management company (Cimmaron St. John) took excellent care of us - met us at the ferry, showed us to the car rental agency, pointed out all the major things we'd need (grocery story, market, etc), and responded to all our questions and needs throughout our stay.
Owner response:We couldn't agree more. St John and Perelandra are magical places. You even learn to love the magical sounds of the birds and bugs, all part of a tropical evening. Don't forget the wonderful sunsets we get at night. Perfect for a special trip to paradise.

We just spent 8 days at Perelandra and were very sorry to leave. The house is very well designed and looks even better in person than the pictures. The view from the decks is really just spectacular. It was wonderful to sit out in the deck in the morning for breakfast, and for cocktails at night - watching the sunset and then the lights come out on St. Thomas. The house was very convenient to Cruz Bay and its great restaurants, the grocery store, and just a 10-15 minute ride to most of the North Shore beaches. There were 4 of us and there was plenty of space with the bedrooms on different levels and two levels of decks to enjoy. Linda was also very responsive to questions we had and gave us a call during our visit to make sure everything was OK - the management company was also great, and answered any questions we had promptly. Everything was handled very professionally and we felt very well taken care of. It's a great place to stay and we would highly recommend it!
Owner response:We appreciate this glowing review! The views are the reason we bought this villa. We are trying to make Perelandra an even more spectacular place. Come and see for yourselves. We really appreciate our management company, Cimmaron and work together to make our guests comfortable and happy.

We had a wonderful anniversary trip to St John's staying at Perelandra. Everything was perfect and more amazing than we expected. We really enjoyed drinking cocktails and watching sunsets on the deck and visiting the national seashore beaches. I highly recommend staying here and we are hoping to come back soon!
Owner response:We are so glad you had a wonderful time. Thank you for staying with us. Yes, Perelandra is a romantic getaway, perfect for a honeymoon or anniversary. Sitting on our deck watching the sailboats by day and the sunsets and twinkling lights of St. Thomas by night is a highlight of our villa. We do hope to see you again.
