The Trout House is nestled on the banks of a trout stream with stunning views of the Absaroka, Crazy, and Gallatin Mountain Ranges and is offered year round for your flyfishing adventure, vacation retreat, family outing, intimate wedding, Thanksgiving and Christmas holidays, or romantic hideaway.
The Trout House is perfectly located in the heart of Paradise Valley and at the base of 11,000 ft. Emigrant Mountain. This beautiful log cabin offers you all the comforts and conveniences of home in a most extraordinary setting. Three cozy bedrooms and two full baths comfortably accommodate six to eight guests. The vaulted great room with stone fireplace opens into the gourmet's kitchen and dining area. Large windows offer spectacular views of the Absaroka Range and the surrounding foothills.
Six Mile Creek meanders year round through a grove of cottonwoods surrounding the Trout House. From June through September our authentic Plains Indian Tipi will sleep three additional guests. The Tipi is tucked into the cottonwoods next to the creek and has it’s own campfire ring. We also offer The Guest Cabin, a smaller log cabin which accommodates up to four guests. The Cabin is heated, has a private bath, a queen log bed and a set of log bunkbeds, microwave, beverage fridge, library, music system, telephone, and stunning views of the surrounding mountains. For rates, photos and additional info please visit our Guest Cabin listing or the Trout House site. Trout House guests have private access to over a million acres of public land, including those in the Gallatin National Forest and the Absaroka/Beartooth Wilderness. There are trails to hike, peaks to climb and pristine areas to explore.
The Trout House is at the epicenter of some of the best flyfishing in the Rockies, and "flyfishing IS spoken here". Anglers enjoy floating the Yellowstone River, fishing gin clear mountain streams, or matching their skills with wary spring creek trout on DePuy, Armstrong, or Nelson Spring Creeks. The fabled rivers and streams of Yellowstone National Park, the Gardner, Lamar, Soda Butte and Slough Creek to name a few, are only a short distance up the Valley. The fishing doesn’t get any better than here. After a day of hiking, fishing, trail riding, exploring, or skiing you can schedule a relaxing in house massage, before slipping into the stream side spa.
The abundance and variety of wildlife is what makes this Rocky Mountain location so exceptional. Bring your binoculars and camera, as, depending on the season, you'll have the opportunity to see mule deer, elk, wolves, mountain goats, big horn sheep, white tail deer, bear, moose, and mountain lion. There are numerous bird species in Paradise Valley including, American bald and golden eagles, owls, hawks, falcons, wading birds, four species of hummingbird, and song birds, including our state bird, the melodious western meadowlark.
As the seasons change so do the vistas and activities available to Trout House guests. In the Spring migratory birds return, new-born calf elk appear on the mountain, the first tiny wildflowers bloom, and the streams open for fishing in late May. As Summer unfolds, the meadows turn to green, the robins have their chicks, elk and deer are minding their young, rodeo season is under way, dry fly fishing gears up, floating the wild Yellowstone River is enjoyed, and horseback riding and hiking are always fun with wildflowers in full bloom. With Fall approaching and the days getting shorter, streamer flys are thrown, elk are bulging, bears feast on apples, mushrooms and late summer berries, tomatoes ripen, and hummingbirds head south. The cottonwoods and aspens slip on their golden coats, the nights are cooler and flannel sheets and wool blankets are welcomed. When winter sets in and snow is on the mountain, the squirrels, finches and chickadees cluster at the feeder, elk and deer graze the foothills, skiers head for the slopes or the back country, fireplaces warm the toes, and luxuriating in the spa with stars so brilliant in the cold clear skies, makes for the end of a perfect day.
The Trout House is exquisitely furnished, beautifully appointed, and perfectly located for your Montana adventure. We welcome your inquiry.
