  • This was a great rental for the price. If you are comfortable with a cabin and not expecting a resort experience then this is a good choice. The fully stocked kitchen was great for cooking meals when we wanted to stay in and it came with the standard stove/oven and pots/pans/dishes/utensils. The washing machine was a nice addition, although you'll have to dry your clothes on a clothesline, which was fine by us. Tania (the manager who lives and works close by) was very helpful and always there to answer her phone when we needed assistance. She was able to help us aquire a cell phone to use, find an internet cafe and get a credible taxi driver. A few things to note, there were some ants that decided to take over the house one day (supposedly normal in Honduras?) but with some raid that was provided and a few hoses we took care of it. Other than that I'd have to say that the bugs were less than I expected. No spiders, some mosquitos in the house (likely our fault) and one cockroach in two weeks time. Also note that power goes out on Roatan often and did in the house a few times, but emergency battery-powered lamps are provided. Lastly, be warned that there's a healthy amount of roosters living (and cock-a-doodle-do-ing) next door but if you get up early anyway it's no big deal. Overall - house is great, pictures do not do it justice. It's an amazing location and the kitchen is nice to have. Ants, roosters, electric and some pretty firm beds can be a problem but for Honduras we'd say that our stay was fantastic. :-)

    In a tropical country you have to expect some bugs! The large ants that periodically sweep through houses are apparently looking for cockroaches (so I've been told but I don't know if this is true) if you leave them, in an hour or two they will all be gone! (a bit disconcerting if you are bug-phobic-Raid is the alternative) Mosquitoes are an issue on Roatan and it is extremely important that you keep the screen doors closed when you have the doors open. Again if it is a problem, spray with raid before you go out. About the roosters, its true! This is a rustic location and not for those expecting a resort experience as Aileen so rightly states. Thanks Aileen for an honest and (I hope) helpful testimonial.

  • This is a lovely home just a few minutes walk from the centre of west end. It is spacious and well appointed, with large decks for relaxing and a full kitchen, and clothes washer. Everything you need is only minutes away including shops, snorkelling/diving and restaurants. Enjoy some peace and quiet in this beautiful island home.
