Luxury, decorator owned home in the safe and friendly uptown section of New Orleans, Louisiana. This home is walking distance to many of the greatest restaurants, shopping, and live music that New Orleans has to offer.
Taxi service is easily accessible and an inexpensive ride to the French quarter, museums and Frenchman Street. The home features French door access from both bedrooms onto a beautifully lush New Orleans brick courtyard with fish pond, dining area, fire pit and torchiers.
This is not a shotgun home (one room behind another whereby there is alot of traffic in all rooms) rather, one room behind another on 2 sides which allows for more privacy. Quite the Gem!

I am a long-time and long-term visitor to New Orleans and have stayed at many different types of places in many different areas. This home is a treat! My spouse and our best friends stayed here for a week during March 2009 and our only regret was that we couldn't stay longer! While the outside of the house is unassuming--and the neighborhood could be misleading if you don't understand New Orleans' flavor--the interior of the house is uniquely decorated, the amenities are upscale, and the home contains everything you need. There's even clothing for dressing up if the spirit of the city hits you! There is ample free parking on the street (usually right in front of the house) and you can walk to many shops on Magazine Street which is just about 3 short blocks away. You'll have ample access to a food market, restaurants and boutiques for shopping. If you have good legs you can walk a little farther to the streetcar on St Charles Ave, otherwise you'll need a car/cab to make it to the French Quarter area. We walked around the area at night, but I admit to feeling a little timid. The neighbors are quick to say/wave hello so the moment is what you make it. The home is not very (young) kid-friendly, but is great for most traveling adults or respectful teenagers. This is mainly because the house is teeming with artwork and sculptures. There is a washer/dryer in the home as well as a full-size fridge and professional level stove. The kitchen is FULLY stocked. The beds are soft and have quality linen and pillows. If you prefer a firm rest, well now you know. The tiniest drawback is that one bedroom has an incredibly small shower and no tub...it was an awfully tight fit for my 6'3" husband. The home makes up for it though in that there's a walk-out to the private patio from this bedroom. I THINK smoking may be allowed outside (please ask the owner!) If you have physical disabilities, there are a couple of steps into the home and out onto the patio. Also, a wheelchair probably won't fit (ask the owner, again). The owner, Cathy, was fabulous to make arrangments with and handle payment. She is not on-site, but has basically thought of all you'll need in advance anyway. She is available via a quick phone call, however. Be daring! Make a reservation and enjoy an authentic taste of New Orleans!
Recommended for:Adventure seekers, romantic getaway, sightseeing, tourists without a car, age 55+, families with teenagers, girls getaway.
