The open floor plan with gourmet kitchen, washer and dryer allows all the comforts of home. There is an on-site barbecue cooking area for your convenience along with free wireless internet.
An on-island staff is available to provide cleaning, window and maintenance service.

The lanai opens to a breathtaking vista of the Pacific beyond. A volcanic natural bridge, Sunset Point and an open-mouthed ocean cave “Little Spout” complete your view of “Honu” Cove below. Named for the abundance of frolicking sea turtles that frequent the waters. Seasonally, humpback whales will entertain you while you gaze at glorious tropical sunsets. Porpoises, outriggers even Captain Andy on his evening cruise provide endless entertainment and natural beauty. Troptone high table and 4 comfortable chairs are perfect for viewing. You are on the southernmost tip of Kauai. Stars ablaze down to the ocean horizon in the evening. Sunrise coffee and sunset cocktails.

A separate bridged entrance leads to this very private, clerestory windowed unique accommodation. Two independent fully enclosed suites are perfect for 2 couples. The Ocean Suite opens to reveal the lanai and Pacific. Bath renovation included a Kohler whirlpool. The bamboo furnished Sunset suite, overlooking the pool and spa area, converts from twins to a king and has a new tiled walk-in shower.

Centrally located, the Grand Hyatt Regency Resort is a direct short seaside walk. Minutes away is Poipu Beach. Poipu is a resort area with a wide range of beaches, golf courses and restaurants for breakfast, lunch and dinner within walking or a short driving distance. (See map. )

    RE: Paradise Lost Aloha Jan, We are relunctantly back from Paradise. We all loved your condo. The views from every room were fantastic!! We couldn't count the number of whales we saw from the lanai. They were as numerous as tourists in Honolulu!! We also saw lots of turtles and dolphins. It was a wonderful experience. The trip was a reward for my secretary who has been with me ever since I got out of law school 25 years ago. She and her husband had never been to Hawaii. She cried as I pulled her out of the condo Saturday morning when we left. I am sure my wife and I will want to rent your condo again and take our 2 grandchildren! They will love it as much as we did!   • Incredible! Beautiful, spacious condo with everything you can possibly want. The views are breathtaking and the sounds of the waves breaking on the shoreline are surreal. You can't get any closer to the water than this... Just open the full wall of sliding glass doors in the master bedroom and take it all in each and every night...the breeze is to die for and in the morning let the sun call you from bed and enjoy breakfast on the lanai... When my wife and I arrived for our honeymoon she walked in and was literally overwhelmed...tears of pure joy. Words really can't describe this place... This was our 2nd time in Kauai and 2nd time staying at the Makahuena...but unit 3-203 is the one to beat. We'll definitely be repeat visitors. Till we meet again :)

  • Presumeably you're familiar with the melody: Heaven, I'm in heaven... From the moment one approaches the imposing carved entry-doors--one is immediately impressed. This architectural gem has it all; oceanfront property that competes mightily with the best hotels in the world; including the Taj, in New Dehli, India, or the LaVoile D'or at Cap Ferrat, France. A short distance from the property one can access the Heritage Trail--glory in a morning walk along this fabulous shoreline. Listen to the thurndering ocean or enjoy the music of native songbirds. Wind up your walk at the Grand Hyatt--sit quietly and savor native coffee offerings. Inhale the beauty! Celestial breezes at night, the color of the early evening sky from the lanai are intoxicating. Remember to squeeze all the juice out of each moment during your visit. This vacation spot has all the amenities: hike, bike, surf, sun bathing, natural beaches...all within walking distance. Dance under the stars at night, if you choose, to a full orchestra at the Grand Hyatt. As a repeat visitor I am happy to recommend this gem..perhaps you too will experience: Heaven!

  • Simply put: it just doesn't get any better than this. The condo offers a great layout and is furnished with style. The views are the best. From the balcony(lanai) we watched whales jumping, turtles diving, and the sun rising and setting. While the pool and parking are close-by, the unit provides a strong feeling of privacy. The location is convenient to Poipu beach and the town of Koloa, a pleasant walk to the Grand Hyatt with its amenities, and an easy site from which to launch island explorations and adventures. Kauai is the island to visit and this is the place to stay.

  • We've been to Kauai 21 times and stayed in many condos. This is by far the BEST! I actually cried when we had to leave. It's huge beyond belief and has every amenity one could ask for and is beautifully furnished. Even if the weather is bad, the interior is so bright and spacious that being 'cabin bound' is not a problem. We spent most of our time on the lanai watching the spectacular waves and sea turtles directly below us. The lanai is situated so it's comfortable and shaded all day long. There's plenty to do in the area and Makahuena is within walking distance of many of the activities. Can't wait to get back!

  • The week I spent vacationing in this unit was about as close to being a perfect vacation as one can expect in this world. I am careful about how I use words. "Awesome" is one word which is in recent years has been grossly overused in situations which do not merit its full meaning. "Awesome" is a word entirely fitting for this unit and its idyllic surroundings. Inside it is extremely airy and spacious, with high ceilings and huge picture windows. Very nice kitchen and two spacious bedroom suites, each with full bath. Makahuena is at the southern-most tip of the island, so you get gorgeously painted skies and seas at sunset and just a few yards from the building can see sunrise if you are inclined to get up that early. Sea turtles, humpback whales and spinner dolphins frolic almost daily in the nearby waters just below the lanai (porch). If all you have is a week, this island (Kaua'i) is the ideal size. In a series of day-trips you can see pretty much most of the the island and it's memorable scenery. If some places look familiar, it might be because you have seen it before at the movies. Dozens of great movies have been filmed there. This was my first trip to Hawaii. I am very glad that it was to Kaua'i, the "Garden Island." As an enthusiastic flower gardener, I was enthralled by the stunning beauty and diversity of the flora of the island. Don't miss the Allerton botanical gardens and their guided tour if you want to see a remarkable collection of gorgeous flowers, unusual trees and other plants. Large chunks of "Jurrasic Park" were filmed there! Liam
