My husband, son and I met my in-laws in St. Maarten for a family vacation. It's a wonderful, relaxed, homey place, And of course the weather is amazing, the beaches are amazing, the food's amazing. . . you really can't do better. The great thing about the villa is that it's organized like two seperate but connected apartments, so my husband and I had our own space as well as loads of shared space to hang out with the family. I also like the flexibility of being able to prepare a nice meal or - in our case - bake a birthday cake in the villa itself, or it's super easy to go out, as well. (You can get some fantastic ribs nearby!) We like to rent a car and go exploring the bakeries, beaches, and markets all over the island, but if you really just need a break and want to sit on the beach for a week, you could very easily park your bottom on a chair at the resort beach and snooze your vacation away quite happily. There are also some amazing short trips and day trips that leave right from the resort - we went snorkling and we went over to Saba, a volcanic island nearby. Go go go. You won't regret it. Also, Lynn is a fantastic resource - it seems like she really knows and loves St. Maarten - every recommendation she gave us was spot on.Recommended for: Families with teenagers, sightseeing, tourists without a car, girls getaway, romantic getaway, families with young children.

We had an absolutely wonderful vacation! Our villa was clean, nicely decorated, it felt just like home. Great location overlooking the marina, we enjoyed the deck and the view of the boats going in & out. Walking distance to several restaurants, bars and grocery store. The photos on the web-site are exactly what it looks like, no surprises. Lynn did a good job of answering our questions before we left and was so nice to work with. The staff was friendly and helpful. I think next time we would rent a car for a couple of the days during the stay. We took the local bus for $1.50 per person, enjoyed talking to the local people. Safety was never an issue. Would recommend to anyone!Recommended for: Age 55+, sightseeing, tourists without a car, girls getaway, romantic getaway.

Our stay at Simpson Bay Resort was everything we had hoped it to be. The rooms were spacious, clean, and the ocean view spectacular. The resort staff was friendly and helpful. We found the website accurately depicted the accommodations both pictorially and descriptively. We found the owner to be very knowledgeable and a pleasure to do business with. The island beaches were clean and some of the most beautiful we have ever seen. The turquoise blue water lures you in. The cuisine was delicious and affordable. Our days were filled with relaxing on the beach, listening to the ocean, experiencing the island markets, and enjoying the resort amenities. We found the resort location to be ideal with dining, and shopping within walking distance. One of our favorite activities was the Coastal Cruise. A great opportunity to have a drink and see the shoreline from a different perspective. Very cool! My husband and I highly recommend this vacation get away. My husband and I stayed at the Marina Residences with our daughter and had a truly wonderful vacation. The residences were gorgeous and we loved the ocean-side pools. We were close to water-sports, shopping and restaurants. My family and I have been all over the caribbean but keep coming back to St. Maarten. We love the Simpson Bay Marina and Resort because it is close to everything we like: great restaurants, shopping and I feel safe letting my kids go out on their own at the resort because of the security. The water is incredible; some of the bluest I have ever seen. Last time we took several of our friends and several times we shared dinners outside on one of the verandas at the pool. The kids could swim while we had our cocktails. Everyone was happy!Recommended for: Families with teenagers, age 55+, people with disabilities, sightseeing, tourists without a car, pet owners, girls getaway, romantic getaway, families with young children, adventure seekers.

This was our third year at the Marina residences, and each year it gets better. The rooms are gorgeous and the service and amenities impeccable. We're already counting the days until next year.Recommended for: Age 55+, tourists without a car, girls getaway, romantic getaway, families with young children.

Just got back (end of April) from another wonderful vacation. We've been coming down to St. Maarten for years and Pelican/Simpson Bay is the only place to stay. Great location, amenities and activities. Number 1 when you first get there make sure you sign up for the sunset cruise, the best value on the island. Lynn, the wonderful woman that we rent from, has units in the older section of the resort and also the new Marina Residence. Personally I prefer the Caladium, a bit more comfortable, more my idea of an island getaway. But for those that prefer 5 star luxury, the Residence is the way to go. Lynn is also a regular on the island and has provided great advice on things to do and places to eat. Speaking of eating, one of our best activities is to have dinner on the patio next to the Caladium pool with friends and family, usually a pot-luck affair. When Lynn has been on the island at the same time she has even joined us for dinner; she makes a mean pasta dish.Recommended for: Families with teenagers, age 55+, people with disabilities, sightseeing, tourists without a car, girls getaway, romantic getaway, families with young children, adventure seekers.

This is not for everyone. You must enjoy spectacular sunsets, warm blue Carribean water, friendly people, and great beaches. The unit was immaculate and very comfortable.
