Why the Owner Chose Newport
I fell in love with Newport, Oregon back in the early 90's while driving through town along Highway 101. There was something about Newport that stayed with me all these years and when it came time to purchase a home, I immediately thought of Newport. I planned a week long vacation and met with a realtor. This was in October and I had sunny weather the entire week (they call this realtor's weather). This was the PERFECT place for me being across the street from the ocean and with a view of the waves no less. The town is adorable with two lighthouses, Historial Nye Beach and the Historical Bay Front areas within blocks of the duplex. The duplex is located in one of the best parts of town for a vacation home. The other reason I choose Newport is because the town is the county seat with all the facilities right there; a library, several stores, casual and fine dining, the Visual Arts Center and the Performing Arts Center with their own symphony. Newport is more than just a tourist area, it is a home away from home. Even after all these years, I'm at peace when I drive into Newport.
We owned the other half of the duplex and when this side became available to purchase in 2007 and Steve and I jumped at the chance to own the entire building. Now it is possible to rent either side individually, or both sides for that larger group, family gathering, wedding party, or corporate retreat.
The Unique Benefits at this Townhome
We love to walk on the beach! The ocean and it's shore is constantly changing; from the wind swept sand designs with new and interesting patterns made daily, to the ocean waves in a storm and finally to the sunsets that are breathtaking. As my father said after a nice walk on the beach, that he truly understood why we chose Newport Oregon as our second home and had this to say, "If you ever doubt the power of the Universe, come to the Oregon Coast".
Enjoy quaint shops and fantastic restaurants in Nye Beach. Parking and beach access is available.
Overlooks the entrance to Yaquina Bay. Light was first lit in 1871. Lighthouse is open to the public with a self-guided tour.
This is a working harbor. You can drop crab rings from it's docks or simply watch the antics of the sea lions. If you enjoy boats, this the place to view them. The Historical Bay Front area also of
Oregon's tallest lighthouse. the tower stands 93 feet. The lighthouse was first lit in 1873. Enjoy the interpretive center and local tidal pools.

Nancy purchased the first half of the duplex in 2004. It was a dream come true for her! Steve and Nancy were dating then and when Steve went up to Newport to see the property, he knew she had made the right decision, as he was just as excited about the town and the property. Since then, we got married and this is our home away from home. Nancy is a professional property manager and Steve is the director of a juvenile hall. We both enjoy long walks on the beach. Nancy's interests include interior design, gardening, cooking, reading and listening to music. Steve loves to be outside taking walks, gardening, reading, and watching sports. Steve also enjoys the symphony, opera and theatre. We hope you enjoy your stay at Blair's Beach Retreat as much as we do!

Thank you for sharing your Newport home with our family this weekend. This is a beautifully decorated home that was also very comfortable for our whole family to enjoy the beach and then have a nice dinner and spend a few hours playing cards. There were so many special things about this home that I just can't stop raving about this stay. When we visit Newport again I will be renting this again.

Thank you, Nancy -- you are great to work with! your house at the beach is so pretty and comfortable, and it made our vacation so easy. It's quiet, and everything we needed was within reach. The beach is nearby, as are many attractions. It was great to just let the teenagers head out to the beach by themselves...and the way the house is laid out, we never felt like we were stepping on each other. Thanks so much for everything!

Because our duplex is set back from the street, not only do you have a really nice long driveway for extra parking, but it is VERY Quiet. We like the lay-out of the house, too. The master bedroom is far away from the living room area, to give you that extra privacy, especially if someone is watching TV late at night. Newport is a relatively small coastal town, even though it is the county seat. You could probably drive from one end of town to the other in 15-20 minutes, but the location of the duplex is centrally located and you can be to all the major attraction areas within a few minutes and can walk to several of them.

The best furnished and supplied VRBO we've ever stayed at (we've stayed in each unit). The best way to do the beach, walk across the street, down the stairs and there you are. Love having cooking facilities to have our seafood fest and access to rinse off the sand and wash the kids clothes.

All new Cuisinart stainless steel cookware, upholstered bench with throw pillows and apghan at the end of the bed in the master bedroom, a new granite top buffet table in the dining room, and a new beautiful upholstered chair in the living room. We stayed here last year for an extended and weekend and the place simply could not have been any more perfect. The house has been meticulously updated and was very clean and welcoming. This place has all the comforts you need... cozy beds, gas fireplace, Flat-screen TV, wireless, jacuzzi tub, plenty of space, and is literally just steps from the beach. We could not have been happier with our stay here and are already planning on coming back year after year. The owners are fantastic and easy to work with and we cannot thank them enough for letting us share in this wonderful place,,, Thank you Nancy and Steve!!

My family stayed for 5 nights at this splendid, warm 3 bedroom unit. It is beautifully decorated and completely stocked with first rate furniture, linens and appliances. I was amazed that the owners had not left anything to chance...including extra light bulbs and plenty of cleaning materials. It was also a delight working with the owner Nancy whose detailed check lists and suggested places to visit really came in handy. We would return in a heartbeat!!!

We were so happy to arrive at the house and find it looked exactly as it did online. It was also VERY clean. While we only were able to stay 2 nights, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. After a long drive out to the coast, and a stop along the route for a hike, we arrived at the property. We walked to a nearby restaurant for a relaxing dinner and came back to the most comfortable bed (with wonderful bed linens). It was fabulous! The house was the perfect size for the 6 of us that were staying there. The kitchen was well stocked & had everything you would need to cook a gourmet meal. For foodies,the farmer's market in Newport is also close by. There are plenty of restaurants within walking distance and plenty of places to see (The Aquarium was great) and hike if you drive up or down the coast. The owner, Nancy, was very helpful & her instructions & suggestions were perfect. There was not much of a view of the water, but that was the only down side to this rental property. But you can access the beach with a quick walk, just across the street. Thanks, Nancy . . . we had a great time!

My family enjoyed our stay and plan to return in the very near future. The place is extremely clean and very warm and inviting. I wish we had more time. It was close to all the activities we wanted to do. The view was really great and the location was quiet and peaceful. This is truly a gem that I have recommended to my family. The pictures are accurate and gave us a good idea of what we would be renting. Once you walk through the door you just go WOW. Everyone was very helpful in suggesting places to go see and also good places to eat. Once again it was probably one of the best places we have stayed.
