Thank you to our host Sandy and Tim who were both very kind, helpful and generous with their time to offer guidance and recommendations for places to see as well as things to do. We enjoyed our week (7/30-8/6/2011) at the cottage with our two daughters, ages 16 and 21. My 16 year old has already announced that she wants two weeks next year. The cottage is a lovely place surrounded with tall pines and on the shores of Markee Lake. The location is a very peaceful relaxing location with the occasional call of the loons. The living room has about 14 screened in windows which allows nice ventilation and also allows the sounds of nature to visit you. A powerful ceiling fan also does a great job bouncing air down the gabled pine ceiling. I found the room a great location for napping and searching the web. Tim had recently added a window air conditioner to the living room if temps warranted, but we were fine without it. If you are into fishing, this lake offers the opportunity for large fish. We caught many pike and large bass. Our catch included a 32 inch Northern Pike. The fish were released back to the lake for you to catch on your visit. The week we were there, we found success using red crawfish colored Wigglewart crank bait made by Storm. The cabin itself is well equipped. I like my internet and my TV at night and this cottage has high speed internet and DIRECTV. In the kitchen, it has the little extras that some rentals lack, such a pizza pans, cutters, etc. If you want a nightly fire, Tim has a covered reserve of aged firewood cut and stacked. Sleeping: The bed in the bedroom was very comfy. I know the photo of the bedroom might make the room look cramped but actually, that is not the case. There is plenty of room on each side of the bed. In the living room, you will find a full sized day bed. Underneath that day bed is an equal sized flat rollout bed already made up. In addition, there are two couches, a rocker and a recline chair with footstool, in the living room for sitting and napping. You cannot go wrong in selecting this cabin. I would recommend bringing some seat cushions for the boat, but other than that, you are set for a relaxing and wonderfully located vacation with this rental. Thank you again Tim and Sandy. Chris

We stayed in the cottage early Spring (mid-May) and it was amazing! The cottage is much bigger than you'd expect from the pictures, and has so much charm! It has views on both lakes and the location is perfect! We enjoyed the feeling to be right in the middle of nature, with the eagles and loons around you, frogs singing, and especially watching the beavers on the little lake next to the cottage! In addition, it is not far away from the state parks. It was a perfect week for us, and we would like to thank our hosts very much for that! :)
Owner response:We also enjoy all the beauty and solitude that the wildlife and nature provides for us as we live next door to the cabin and enjoy sharing our property with others! Come check our place out! -Sandy and Tim

Thanks to Tim and Sandy for an ideal, relaxing stay at their cozy, immaculate, comfortable cottage in such a beautiful, quiet natural area. My wife and our 6 and 9 year old girls loved our time there, the amazing nature: Eagles, loons, beaver, loons, paddling on the lake, enjoying the woods and the fun nearby attractions. It was exactly what we needed, even better that it looks by its description and pictures. We hope to return soon!

We enjoyed our stay at Markee Lake. It was a nice cottage to relax and also close to the activities our kids enjoy. We went shopping in Nisswa, biking on the Bunyan Trail, swimming at Pelican Beach, and even crossed the Mississippi River at Itasca State Park. We liked the convenience of the Brainerd Lakes Area activities yet a quiet and clean place to rest and relax. Thanks to Tim and Sandy for sharing their beautiful cottage and we've already booked our 2 weeks for next summer! Kolette

We are a family of 4 with 2 young kids and we all think this is the best of all the cabins we ever stayed. It has everything you ever needed. The lake is nice and quiet, not a crowded lake at all. We caught lots of fish with the motor boat provided. Sandy and Tim are really nice and friendly and we feel lucky to have a cabin like this for our vacation.

A great getaway cabin, perfect for a long weekend or week away. Very nicely renovated with a very spacious living room, and plenty of things to keep you busy. Our girls loved fishing off the dock and looking at the beaver dams on Little Markee Lake. We will definitely keep this top on our list for our next vacation.

My family had a wonderful time at the cabin. We were welcomed to a spacious cabin with everything we needed to enjoy the quiet and the outdoors. The water was very clear and our children loved chasing the sunnies and wading ducks. The campfire was a nice ending to a quiet day. It was very peaceful and relaxing, and I will recommend this getaway to all of my friends. Thank you for making us feel welcome!
