WIDE, LOVELY VIEW TO QUIET THE HEART
An Alaskan house with a 340 degree view of the sea, mountains, islands, a bird sanctuary, and the twinkling lights of Anchorage at night.
This homeowner-crafted house is perched on the brim of a large ravine, literally on the edge of wilderness and only 15 minutes from midtown Anchorage.
SPACE and SUNSHINE
The suite is the upper view level of the house. A separate exterior entrance leads to the suite which has a living room, kitchen/dining room, a bathroom, and a bedroom (Two smaller suites are downstairs, see description below. The prices listed in the rate section of this listing are the prices just for the upstairs suite.)
COTTAGE ATMOSPHERE
CORPORATE TRAVELERS WELCOME
Seeing the antique furniture and old-world decor, one child called it "old-fashioned nowadays." If you want definite Alaskan-made flavor with a hint of cottage spice, this is your place.
ADVENTURES AND ASPECTS
Hundreds of miles of Alaskan wilderness can be seen from the windows and many adventuring aspects of Alaska are nearby: a skiing resort, a zoo, an indoor water park, lake beaches, historic trails and an early-days gold mine.
Whether you are a long-distance traveler or a local Alaskan wanting to stay in Anchorage frequently or occasionally for your shopping and in-town activities, you can benefit from this place. There is one queen bed and a twin bed offered as the bed arrangement in the suite. A pullout queen-size sleeper sofa is available for an extra charge but be aware that it fills up the living room.
Two downstairs areas are available as different locations.
One is a single room, moderately large, with a queen bed plus a twin. The bathroom is a few steps away. The bathroom is a bit unfinished and has a shower, sink, and toilet but no bathtub. The access is via the private entrance area which does not go through anybody else's private living rooms. There is a laundry area between the two rental areas. The price for this smaller area is $110 per night.
The second downstairs area is a living room/kitchen/dining room with an sunny 6x6' entryway for a library and reading room. The bathroom is a shared bathroom with the room mentioned just above. The bed is a double bed and a twin bed (ask for details). The price is $150 per night.
Each area has a view of the ocean and the city lights. Overall the three-part home can sleep 11 but the dining table seats only 8.
For photos of these other two areas, check back soon. (1/31/12)

We had a wonderful stay at the SeaView Cottage during one of our most memorable holidays ever. Lois, our hostess, was warm and informative -- finding the perfect balance of privacy and hospitality. The cottage is very comfortable with all the amenities one could need. We found it centrally located with easy access to Anchorage and to all points south -- of which we took full advantage of on our day treks. The views are spectacular and since our visit was during the summer, the long days allowed us to take full advantage of the sights. I really enjoyed how the house is nestled in the hills, but still in a nicely populated location. We plan to return & would recommend to anyone looking for a lovely long or short retreat.
