Amazing Lake Tahoe Views Overlooking Meeks Bay
- Minimum stay:2-7 nights
- Internet:No
- Pets allowed:No
- Wheel chair accessible:No
The home is a beautiful family cabin overlooking Meeks Bay with a full lake view. It has 4 bedrooms and 2 baths. Three of the bedrooms have nice lake views, and the fourth has filtered lake views as well. The entrance is on the top level where the master bedroom with a king bed is located as well as the kitchen, living room and dining room. The best feature is enjoying the expansive and scenic views from the kitchen, living room and dining room with your family or friends. With the master bedroom and bath on the top level, there is easy access to the main living areas.
There are 3 additional bedrooms along with a second bathroom downstairs. There is a large deck with comfortable seating as well as a stainless gas BBQ on the top level and also a second private deck on lower level. The decks offer great lake views and are beautiful for relaxing and having a BBQ; guests enjoy seeing the sunset colors or sunrise over the lake and seeing both Meeks Bay and across the lake views.
WiFi COMING summer of 2013!!
~WINTER SNOWBOARDING/SKIING: The home is only about 4 miles from Homewood Ski Resort which has great snowboarding and skiing and Beautiful wide open lake views. Driving to Alpine Meadows is also not far (approximately 20 mins.) and one of our favorite resorts; it's great for families.
~SUMMER FEATURES:
The home is very close to Meeks Bay Beach and Resort which has great lake activities for all ages and is one of the best beach areas on the lake. In the summer, Meeks Bay offers swimming, boating, and has a marina and a lodge which provide snacks and gift items. At the beach there is snack bar as well as other water activities like kayaks and paddle boats. There is a sand volleyball court and boat rentals at Meeks Bay. To see what Meeks Bay has to offer google Meeks Bay Resort. It is a great family resort with fun activities for all ages!
Our home is located in a quiet and relaxing neighborhood, this is truly in a special mountain setting. There is also easy access to hiking on the Meeks Bay trail above Meeks Bay Resort up to lakes and the Desolation Wilderness area.
Our house is very close to the beach as there is a woodsy pathway starting at the house (only a 5 to 10 minute walk) that leads you down to the beautiful white sandy beach at Meeks Bay in the summer. (This is across highway 89.) The walk down is also a beautiful quiet walk and area to visit in the winter.
If you head down highway 89 toward the south shore, you will arrive at beautiful Emerald Bay which is about a 15-20 minute drive on highway 89. There are spectacular hiking trails, waterfalls and tours of the Vikingsholm available; this is run by the State Parks. There is a trail down to Emerald Bay where there are tours of Vikingsholm available. Sugar Pine Point State Park is also only a few miles north and is the location of the historic Erhman Mansion with available tours and a beautiful lake and pier area, picnic areas as well as hiking and biking trails.
Another great activity is to catch the bike trail which is 1/4 mile down from the home across highway 89 and goes all the way in to Tahoe City.
Once you experience this area and home, you will want to come back year after year!!

Our family had a fantastic weeklong vacation at this beautiful property! Stunning views of Lake Tahoe and the mountains as well as great access to trails, historic sites, parks, great restaurants and phenomenal skiing made this house the perfect fit for us.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, romantic getaway, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, sightseeing.
Owner response: Suzanne and family, We are so glad you had a wonderful stay, enjoyed our views and got to see some of the great activities that are so close by our place! We are also happy to hear that it all worked out coming off of a far away flight as well. We hope you will return again!

My wife and I had the pleasure of finding a short mid-week stay to stay at this delightful family cabin with stunning views of the lake and surrounding mountains. It had been 25 years since we left Tahoe last and we were very pleased to find it not too drastically changed. Kitchen was very pleasant to work in - we prepared most or meal in-house and enjoyed them on the deck enjoying the stunning view. We were very active everyday but the house would have been perfect for curling up with a good book. The lake and beach is just a short modest hike down a path just alongside the house. We made a couple of forays into Tahoe City and South Lake Tahoe but spent more time hiking with trips to Grass Lake in the Desolation Wilderness and a memorable hike to Fallen Leaf Lake. The owner was very easy to work with and we hope to return again but won't wait so long this time. My review name says kids but VRBO the kids are out on our own and it's just we two.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, romantic getaway, families with teenagers, girls getaway, sightseeing.
Owner response: Tom, We are so glad you enjoyed your stay and were able to do so many great hikes and activities in the mountains and around the lake! We hope you will be back again. Thanks! Linda

Here's to the wonderful and amazing trip in one of the most beautiful places I have ever seen! We were here with a big family 20+ people (at different cabins) that we reunited with. It was such a good time to reunite with everyone. Today (our last day) I had prayer time with my son down on a trail on a rock between the pine trees. The second day we were here my sister and I sat on the patio and watched the sunrise all in all we went kayaking, fishing and biking. Thank you for allowing us to stay here and enjoy all of this beauty! ShareenDid you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

I had such a wonderful time this week with my family here at the cabin. I do not get to see them much since I am away at college. Lake Tahoe was the perfect place to catch up through kyaking, biking, and fishing. Cheers!! ElaineDid you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

Thanks for the beautiful cabin. We had a blast. We had a family reunion dinner with banana splits and yes, smores. I really enjoyed my coffee in the morning on the patio. Our trip from Orange County, Ca. included kayaking, fishing, biking and spending many nights watching spiderman video with my grandson and eating popcorn with a beautiful fire burning. What a great time had by all! K and C FamiliesDid you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

Monica arranged our trip and a good time was had by all. I love this cabin! Julie, Katie, Sarah and Monica and I (Joan E) stayed here and our friends were at Theresas. Loved it! Owner info
About the owner: Our cabin is owned by two families and was built by our parents years ago because Meeks Bay was our parent's favorite area to go on vacation and get away to relax. We also love Meeks Bay and have memories that go back to the old lodge and family acitivities that happened when Meeks was run by the Kehlet Family. The old lodge was amazing and had so much character. We still are very fortunate to be able to enjoy the pristine nature of the beautiful beach and surrounding area. It never grows old. The new managment of Meeks Bay has done a very excellent job of keeping it grounds looking beautiful and keeping the character of an old Tahoe Resort. Both of our families love to swim, take walks on the trails and hike, to ride the bike trail and to enjoy all that Tahoe has to offer!
The Unique Benefits at this House:
When you go stay at our cabin, it is totally relaxing. You get to breathe the fresh mountain air.....enjoy the crystal clear cool water and beautiful light sand at Meeks Bay. If you don't do too much you return home very rejuvenated. You will get the urge to go back once you have been there.........The best part is the gorgeous lake view you can enjoy from the house year round.
