My husband & I really enjoyed our stay at the Seaquester. The location is great -- steps from the beach & only 2 miles from Duck. We only used the 3rd floor -- with the best views of the ocean. (There are no ocean views from the bedrooms.) The description of the house is accurate (e.g., nicely furnished & decorated, well-stocked kitchen with 2 refrigerators, TVs in every room, washer & dryer, fireplace, etc.). It was awesome to sit in the living room or on the deck and watch the rising sun, crashing waves, men fishing in the surf, and soaring birds (pelicans, seagulls, ospreys, sand pipers & sea terns). One morning we witnessed a whale migrating north and another morning we saw both ends of a double rainbow. Be sure to bring your binoculars! We enjoyed the heated pool, hot tub, and sports activities (basketball, volleyball, and horseshoes). We also enjoyed burning a “fire log” while watching a movie after dark. Nick was quick to respond to all our questions. He even came by to clean the swimming pool at the beginning of the week. Our only quibbles were the “gunky windows” and the “musty smell” in the lower levels. Nick explained that the windows had been cleaned two weeks earlier, but the weather had gunked them up again. So, we bought a squeegee and cleaned the living room sliders. The “musty smell” in the bottom floors might have been resolved by opening up the windows. Because we were living on the top floor, we didn’t bother about it. Our favorite activities included walking on the beach and riding bikes on the off-street trail. We rented bikes from Money$Worth because they deliver & pick up for free. We also enjoyed a Wild Horse Adventure Tour. In addition to seeing the wild horses, we saw dolphins surfing off shore. If you own a 4-wheel vehicle, you can drive along the beach (on Highway 12 north of Corolla) on your own. Our favorite restaurants are Aqua and the Blue Point. For gourmet take-out we recommend Steamers. And be sure to try the addictive Duck Donuts. Our favorite shops are in the Scarborough Faire Shopping Village and on Duck’s Soundside Boardwalk. In addition to the shops, you get to see some beautiful coastline habitats. We were lucky to see a sunning turtle and a grazing deer.

This home was exactly what I wanted! Oceanfront...hot tub...heated pool.....great decks....and steps from the beach! The kitchen had everything I need to cook....and having my dogs there was a plus!! The only thing that would have put it over the top for me would have been an extra small fridge for beer/wine....tv's in the bedrooms and the dead bugs on the inside of the screened porches removed...(made it feel dirty and my granddaughter doesn't like bugs) My 3 year old granddaughter loved the pool and the slide and we had an all-around great week! The weather was awesome except for one day when it was a bit windy!!

Owner response: glad you all enjoyed and hope to see you back soon. we've got it on the list to put tv's in all the bedrooms this winter, and we may take your advice on a mini-fridge downstairs if we can find the space. i'll let the housekeeper know about the bugs on the porch, thanks!

Perfect location! 2 miles north of the edge of "town," we biked with the kids to town as well as in the other direction through Pine Island. The beach is the right amount of "private" and was very dog friendly. The pool was great, and the kids loved the slide. We did run into an unidentifiable bug in the house, on the next to last night of our stay, and the house was as clean as you can expect a pet-friendly house, but we must say that this was one of our best and most memorable stays in OBX. We could see returning to this house in the future. This was our 7th year in OBX, and we tried some new places to eat. We enjoyed the Paper Canoe (probably the closest restaurant to the house), as well as Aqua, Red Sky and Blue Point for dinner, as well as Duck Deli, Duck Donuts, and our favorite lunch spot, the Bad Bean Taqueria in Timbuck II.

We had the best stay at SeaQuester...my mom(83), and two sisters flew down from CT to stay with us. A dear friend and her two teens joined our three teens, my husband and I and really enjoyed the pool, slide, and the beach The kids rented wave runners one afternoon....super cool. In all we had 6 adults, 5 teens and an infant. The house accomodated everyone and we appreciated the different levels and gathering spaces so the kids had places to hang out separate from the adults.. We laughed a lot and cooked in most nights...we loved the house, the beach and all the amenities. Thank you for such a great place to rest, relax and enjoy the shore.

My family and I arrived 8/4/12 and had a wonderful week. The grandchildren really enjoyed the pool, especially the slide. We have rented several homes and this one by far had the best equipped kitchen. The home was very clean when we arrived. Once nice item, is that they steam clean all of the carpets between rentals. There were a few minor maintenance issues. The kitchen sink had a minor leak. We called the caretaker and told him about the leak. He came over right away to fix the problem. The home layout was just like it was described on the website. The home is located just over the dunes, with a boardwalk from the house to the beach. The home is located close to shopping, etc. A couple of items I would put on my wish list would be: TV's in the bedrooms and an extra refrigerator in the kitchen. If we every return to Duck, I would definitely consider renting this home.

Owner response: hi Ya'll thanks for the honest feedback, glad you enjoyed it. we are definitely getting tv's in the bedrooms this winter. i don't think another fridge is going to fit in the kitchen, but we'll look to see if we can maybe squeeze a mini-fridge in somewhere for beverages, that's not a bad ideal. FYI future renters- we do just like most others and steam clean the carpets before the season starts and once in the middle of the summer, that just happened to be this week. if we did it every week rent would be ALOT higher...

My family stayed at the SeaQuester the week of 7/21-7/28/2012. We were extremely happy with the house, the closeness to the beach, and the pool, waterside, and hot tub. The kitchen was well stocked with everything needed to prepare meals. Nick, the caretaker, was very prompt and responded to our calls right away. The house was well-cleaned prior to our arrival and there was a goodie bag for us containing some much needed essentials. The beach here is very dog friendly and our 2 golden retrievers loved taking walks on the beach every morning. It was a fun, relaxing vacation and we are already planning our return next year!

We just returned home yesterday from spending a week at this beautiful property and can't wait to go back next year. We were there with 6 other adults, 4 children, and 2 golden retrievers and it was everything we had hoped for. The proximity to the beach was perfect considering the number of times we would have to walk back to the house for forgotten items or to take one of the children back. The adults had as much fun in the pool as the children did. The house was well stocked with everything that we could possibly have needed; the kitchen was very well appointed right down to the smallest item. The caretaker was very punctual when a rain storm knocked the power out of the hot tub. We could not think of one thing that could have made our stay at the house better. Kudos to the owners!

We rented the house the week of June 17th. You couldn't beat the location right next to the beach. Walking on a boardwalk to the beach was nice. Other places we have rented were not as easy to get to the beach even though they were ocean front. The kitchen was the best stocked kitchen we have been in, more than enough silverware and dishes. The pool and slide were great especially with the ocean being so rough with red flags up for a couple of days. The one thing that would have been nice is to have a tv in the master bedroom on the top floor. Kids and grandkids wanted to be on the tv with games and we went to bed early and could have used a tv. Definitely a great place to stay and the price was great too.

I took my mother on a vacation to relax. We were at the Seaquester the week of May 5-12, 2012. It was the most wonderful house and the beach location was perfect. To be lulled to sleep each night by the sound of the waves on the ocean was such a treat. We found the house to be clean, containing everything we could possibly need and then some. I disagree with the couple that felt there should be TV in the bedrooms; totally defeats being on the ocean and hearing the surf. The two flat-screens are sufficient....We honestly never turned the TV on the whole time we were there! We loved the heated pool, and the hot tub, would love to have our entire family share this wonderful place......looking forward to that. All in all, an outstanding vacation home.

We stayed here for a week beginning Memorial Day weekend with four adults, five kids and two dogs (lab-mixes about 65 lbs each). We all slept confortably and even had an extra bed that wasn't used. Both the location of the house and the layout were great - easy and quick walk to the beach and a lot of porch space (covered and open) for anyone, including the dogs, to relax and listed to the waves. It was also nice to have a bit of yard space for the dogs. The pool was great, and the slide definitely an added bonus that all the kids and adults took advantage of. Also nice to have a hot tub to use in the evenings after the kids were in bed. It's a quick trip to downtown Duck, and the beach wasn't at all busy, so we could spread out and enjoy ourselves. Thanks for having us all and I'd definitely recommend for anyone with kids and dogs.
