Well-kept Oceanfront home (153 Soundsea Ave) on huge lot with plenty of parking in secluded Sound Sea Village in north duck. You have a private boardwalk to the beach which is closer than most other oceanfront homes and only a few steps up and down the dune, not entire flights of stairs! Newer concrete pool, hot tub, and dog-walking area. Wifi, basketball hoop, regulation sized volleyball and horseshoe pits provide plenty of entertainment for your family.
Ground floor has a king bedroom with private hallway bathroom plus washer & dryer. Mid floor has a king master bedroom, a king bedroom with shared hall bath, and two bunk beds +single trundle in the other bedroom, plus sitting area & large flat screen TV. The top floor has a king master bedroom, kitchen, living room with large leather sectional, dining room, and real wood burning fireplace to keep you warm in the off-season!
$200 pool heat fee. Pool Heat is via heat pump, so may not be functional during cold snaps.
Well behaved housebroken pets allowed. starting with all new rez's after 4/1/11...Linens can be rented through us for a 15% discount through local vendor. Contact us for pricing. Rates do not include taxes or $50 non-refundable accidental damage waiver. 50% of total due to reserve, this is non refundable unless we find a replacement, in which case there is a $275 cancellation fee. 25% can be made if 50% downpayment is not feasible for you. At least one-third of renters must be aged 25. No smoking inside! no pitbulls, cats, or dogs under 1 year old. Please note: disposable products not provided (i.e. no soap, wood for fireplace, shampoo, tp, paper towels, etc). Tax rate is 12.75% and drops to 11.75% after 7/1/11.

We have just returned home from renting this property. Per the description it was very conviently located and close to the ocean. We were extremely disappointed in the cleanlieness of the home. The mattress pads, pillows and comforters were stained and smelled. The kitchen had food left by previous tenants still in the cabinets and had crumbs left behind. The cabinets and drawers had to be wiped out before we put anything in them. The kitchen floor had caked on food on it and was in need of a good washing. Screens for sliding doors and windows were missing leaving no means of air when airconditioning was turned off. I would not rent this home again nor recommend it to a friend.
Owner response:Hello Folks, after not having a single housekeeping complaint all year our caretaker was pointed out some items on tuesday, 3 days after this group checked in. the kitchen floor had what appeared to be fresh pasta sauce on it under the stools, absolutely not from the previous guests. then she pointed to the rest of the linoleum floor which was simply the pattern of the floor! yes the housekeeper does leave unopened dry goods in cabinets such as a box of rice and a bag of flour. we thought that was appropriate. as for the screens, we don't have them, being on the ocean too often they get left open all week by folks (which is what they wanted to do have the a/c set at 68 and leave windows open) and the house gets rained in, a/c units get overworked, and our coal-burning electric source is unfriendly to the environment. sorry your trip was so unenjoyable. i'm sure the jersey shore will welcome you back...

Our stay at the house couldn't have been better! It was the first time our family rented a home in OBX and the owners and caretaker were extremely responsive in answering all of our questions and concerns. The property was in excellent condition and the kitchen was very well equipped. The pool, especially the slide, was the best part! It was also nice to have the beach in the backyard. We all had a blast - our 2 children, our friend's family of 4, our niece and her boyfriend, and of course our golden retriever. Jim and Lynette - thank you for a wonderful stay and experience!!!

We had 6 adults and two dogs for the second week of May 2011. Jim the owner was very quick and responsive to my questions. The house and location was PERFECT for us, and had nice space between the other houses - very quiet. We were able to take the dogs and walk them on the beach everyday, hang out and fish, lounge, play frisbee, etc all day. The beach this time of year did not have many people, so we had so much space. The heated pool and hot tub was perfect especially since the days were in the 60's, felt good to be able to swim in warm water. The house was very well stocked with cooking/dining materials, we did not need anything. The location between Duck and Corolla was fantastic, and we rented bikes for the week to get around (2 miles to the Duck shopping, 10 miles to Corolla and more shopping/sites). Couldn't have asked for anything better. Thank you Jim and Lynette!!

The property was clean and well stocked with dishes, glasses, utensils, pool toys, etc. The property owner and the care taker were both courteous and responsive. We went early in the season so paying extra to heat the pool was necessary and well worth it. Our only issue was a strong urine smell in the lower levels of the house.
Owner response:carpets were just steam cleaned before ya'll arrived, and that was simply the chems and water drying, may have been a tad musty, sorry, but definitely wasn't urine smell.
